The Sun Rises When The Moon Falls [Gender Neutral Reader X Sun N Moon]

Chapter 16: Broken Moon part 2

Chapter 16: Broken Moon part 2

Aug 03, 2024

You couldn't help but feel a surge of satisfaction. The connection you were forming with Eclipse felt genuine and heartwarming. It was a step towards breaking down the barriers between you, towards understanding and acceptance.

This was nice, you two being friends for a bit. Even if it is just for a bit. You don't know if after this Eclipse was going to be scared of you again but deep down you hoped not.

Suddenly, a loud crash echoed through the room. Startled, you turned toward the source of the sound, only to find Moon standing in the doorway, his expression a mix of exhaustion and determination.

Moon's sudden appearance in the room surprised you, breaking the intimate moment you were sharing with Eclipse. His exhausted expression and determined gaze immediately caught your attention, making you wonder what had happened to bring him here in such a state.

Eclipse, too, seemed taken aback by Moon's entrance. His body tensed, his eyes darting nervously between the two of you. The progress you had made in easing his fear seemed to dissipate in an instant, replaced by a familiar sense of apprehension.

"Moon, what's wrong?" you asked, concern lacing your voice as you moved closer to him.

"Nothing."

Moon's response caught you off guard. His curt reply, accompanied by a dismissive wave of his hand, gave you the impression that something was indeed wrong, but he wasn't willing to share it with you. Your concern grew, and you exchanged a worried glance with Eclipse.

Ignoring Moon's attempt to brush off the question, you pressed further, determined to find out what had caused him to appear in such a state.

"Come on, Moon," you urged, your voice firm yet gentle. "I can see that something's bothering you. Please, let me help."

"I told you it's nothing. Just Sun."

Moon's words hung in the air, leaving a sense of unease in the room. His mention of Sun's name piqued your interest, and you couldn't help but wonder what had happened between the two of them.

"Moon did something happen when you two transformed?"

Moon made a low growl and advanced deeper into the daycare, going towards his tower, most likely going to hide from you. When he passed you, you noticed a large gash on his arm. It reminded you of the time Sun got broken and you mentally reminded yourself to ask about it later.

You immediately reached out to grab Moon's arm, concern etched across your face as you examined the deep gash. oil trickled down his arm, staining the fabric of his pants and wrist ribbons. It was clear that this was more than just a minor injury.

"Moon, you're hurt," you exclaimed, your voice filled with worry. "What happened? We need to treat this right away."

Moon tried to pull away, a scowl on his face. "I said it's nothing," he muttered, his voice filled with a mix of frustration and pain.

Your grip tightened on the animatronic's arm, not allowing him to go anywhere. "We both know that's bullshit, Moon," you snapped, ignoring the slight twinge in your chest when you heard your own tone of voice.

Moon jerked his arm out of your grasp, his scowl deepening. The frustration and pain in his voice were evident as he snapped, "I said it's nothing."

You took a step back, momentarily stunned by his sudden aggression. But you quickly composed yourself, refusing to let his defensive response deter you from helping him. You knew that Moon had developed a tendency to bottle up his emotions and put on a tough front, but you couldn't ignore the obvious pain he was in.

"Moon, please," you pleaded, your voice softening. "I'm just trying to help. We're a team, remember? We need to trust each other."

He hesitated for a moment, his eyes flickering with a mix of anger and vulnerability. You could see the internal struggle playing out in his expression, the battle between his pride and the desire to let someone in.

Finally, Moon let out a heavy sigh, his shoulders slumping slightly. "Fine," he grumbled, relenting. "I... I got into a fight with Sun during our transformation. It got out of hand. We opened our coating on a stray piece of metal."

Moon's confession reminded you of his first encounter.

Gently, you reached out to touch the gash, your fingertips grazing the torn metal. Moon winced at the contact, but he didn't pull away this time. Instead, he allowed you to examine the injury, his gaze filled with a mixture of pain and vulnerability.

"This looks serious, Moon," you said softly, your voice filled with concern. "We need to go to Parts and Service to fix this."

Moon nodded, his expression a mixture of gratitude and resignation. He seemed to understand that he couldn't brush off his injuries any longer, that he needed someone to take care of him.

You guided Moon towards the door, his injured arm cradled gently in your hands. As you stepped into the hallway, you noticed Eclipse hesitating behind you, a mixture of worry and fear etched on his face.

"Virus," you called out, turning to face him.

Eclipse's eyes widened at the mention of his 'name', his body frozen in uncertainty. He had been observing the scene unfold, his fear momentarily forgotten in the face of Moon's injury. But now, his fear resurfaced.

You could see the fear beginning to creep back into Eclipse's eyes, his body tensing up as he hesitated in the doorway. Contemplating whether to leave the safety of the daycare or not.

But you couldn't let Eclipse retreat back into his fear, not when he was beginning to open up and trust you. Determination filled your voice as you called out to him, urging him to stay.

"Virus, it's okay," you reassured him, your voice calm yet firm. "Moon needs our help right now. We can't let our fear hold us back from taking care of each other."

Eclipse's gaze flickered between you and Moon, his fear warring with the desire to help. Slowly, he took a hesitant step forward, his curiosity and concern coming out.

"I... I want to help too," he murmured, his voice laced with determination.

A small smile tugged at the corners of your lips as you reached out to Eclipse, offering him a reassuring hand. He tentatively took it, allowing you to guide him towards Parts and Service alongside Moon.

★★★

The air in Parts and Service was thick with the scent of oil and metal. The room was a labyrinth of spare parts and flickering lights. It was a place where broken things were mended, where wounds were healed. You saw that Liam wasn't here so you knew that you had to do it yourself.

You guided Moon to the metal cylinder, its surface gleaming under the dim lighting. Carefully, you helped him sit down, his injured arm resting gently on the cold surface. Moon winced as he settled into position, the pain evident in his eyes. You strapped him in, using the metal restraints to keep him still.

Eclipse stood beside you, his eyes wide as he took in the scene before him. The sight of the broken animatronics and scattered tools seemed to unnerve him, but he remained by your side, his determination unwavering.

You turned your attention back to Moon, gently examining his arm. The gash was deep, the torn metal jagged and uneven. It would require precision and care to fix properly. Or, you could just replace the coating.

You carefully assessed Moon's arm, knowing that the damage went beyond a simple repair. The torn metal was too extensive, and trying to fix it would only result in a compromised coating. Replacement was the best option, even though it meant removing Moon's original coating and replacing it with a new one.

With a heavy sigh, you turned to the shelves lined with replacement coatings, searching for one that would match Moon's original appearance. Eclipse watched silently, his gaze shifting between you and the broken animatronic, his expression a mix of concern and curiosity.

As you retrieved the appropriate coating, Eclipse's voice broke the silence. "Will Moon be okay?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine worry.

You turned to face him, your expression softening. "Yes, Eclipse, he'll be okay," you assured him, your voice gentle yet firm. "We'll fix him up, and he'll be as good as new."

Eclipse nodded, his anxious gaze never leaving Moon. It was clear that he still had doubts that Moon could be fixed. But his determination to support was stronger, and he trusted you. Even if it was slight.
