Djé||é was desperately searching for his friend in the moving streets of sand in Ossain’oosá, where the roads shifted by the minute and no path remained the same. His friend had been accused of witchcraft by the Faithful of the Comb and was condemned to death.
He wanted to save his friend because he knew she wasn't a witch; she was the only person who had ever shown him kindness. However, the Faithful of the Comb had imprisoned her in a stone cell. Though they weren't fighters, they possessed much greater physical strength than Djé||é, who was just a child.
Djé||é ran as fast as he could when they took her to the dungeon, but the ostriches they rode were too swift for him. He tried to convince everyone of her innocence, but no one believed him. As the time for her execution approached, Djé||é couldn't stop crying, knowing that the only person who cared about him was about to be stoned to death. But just before the first stone touched her skin, she combed her hair with a strange-looking comb and vanished before everyone's eyes. Djé||é was left stupefied.
