Chapter 11.
Rose Thorn.
Muriel had been tense all this time, because the Beast had never come to his property and much less had attacked so brutally in that way, it was as if he was trying to warn that the limits had been exceeded or maybe somehow some idiot with a hero complex had come to challenge him and in revenge had told him that he lived on his property... damn it, everything was so confusing for him, that he had not even been able to sleep well at night, because his body was kept in a completely stressful state of alert, he had not even been able to take a bite of his new acquisition and perhaps this also bothered him, but the headache he felt was so great, that it made the tea he was drinking in his mouth taste like rotten blood: it was disgusting and totally tiring, but somehow he had to face it, since in the town it had already been rumored that the Beast had attacked him leaving many wounded on one of his properties and he as a man could not let his reputation be stained to that level, so taking a horse he left to the town, entered a tavern and everyone began to murmur around him: look, that's the one who said he kept the Beast at bay; I heard that he attacked you and has a lot of dead people on your property, you're a fraud, if you get along so well with the Beast, ¿Why don't you serve him as a better concubine? These types of comments that were heard so close and so far echoed in Muriel's ears, who grabbed the glass cup she was drinking beer from and smashed it against the floor, she stood up and spoke with authority: ¿why are you small-time bastards gossiping so much behind my back, that you attacked me, that you didn't, how do you know what really happened?,then a fat man who was eating simply said: rumors say that the Beast attacked you and left you a lot of dead people on one of your properties, but Muriel was not going to stop there and answered, the Beast has not attacked me, he simply came to my property to look for those who were no longer of any use to me to feed on; On my property there are no dead people, there are not even scratches on the walls, he wanted me to feed him and since I am so kind I allowed him to enter and feed with those I had previously selected, so stop spreading things that are not true because the Beast obeys me and only me, and unless you want to see it in your houses tonight, you better not raise any more false testimonies in my name, ¿Is that clear?
The people present were impressed with the words the man had given, it was almost as if he was warning them not to bother him and not to make him angry; if that were completely real the man was the number one enemy of the poor town, because the Beast would be left in the background if he was the one who decided who lived and who died and despite being as handsome and manly almost like a rose he had a temperament like the thorns on the stem of that flower, maybe it was not the poison that the town had been blindly taking…
