Lance dazedly stared at the reply of the other person. At first, this statement sound ridiculous and absurd. His anger instantly rose up from his chest. But then he recalled all the things he experienced after he died in the national championship.
The intensive pain he went through. The transformation of his appearance that resulted from being drowned of the black fluid, and the horrible monster he saw in the reflection…
Lance's breath shakily. This development was getting more and more outrageous or perhaps all of this was just a dream. Lance vigorously twisted his arm, in the hopes that he would finally wake up from this strange dream and meet Alice who was waiting for him. (A/N: No, she's not HAHAHA XD)
Yet, in the end, this dream wasn't a dream and the pain was a real pain.
Inexplicable emotions overwhelmed him and he could not breath well. He inhaled and exhaled slowly. Trying to calm himself down.
He caught a glimpse of the chat box screen. The other person must have waited for a period of time for his response. But since he did not even bothered to, they become impatient.
Lance forcibly close his eyes. After he made sure he'd stabilize his emotions, that's when he opened them again.
The words that the other person and the mechanical voice in his head uttered were like hammers that are drilling countless nails to his heart.
[The things you experienced are not a bug or a result of a game system issue.]
[This world is not a game, but your world is.]
Lance felt that something just exploded in his head. And a sickly painful experience surge up.
For a second, he was still laying down on the bed. And then the next, he got up
and tried to get out of the sheets. But dizziness that hammered his skull
caused him to lose balance and collapse on the floor.
The words that he just read from the chat box became a hazy memory. It's like
something is purposely trying to extract something on his head, blurring
everything in his path.
His stomach churned. He knew he just heard something incredible from the mechanical voice. However, he could not remember any details and the last thing that he could recall is the mechanical voice saying [Everything you believe in is a lie.]
Deep inside, Lance knew there was something more….
Something more important.
He could not see clearly what was in front of him. He relied on his memories and tried to recall it back.
But the more he tried to do so, the more his stomach churned, as if he just swallowed a live parasite.
Using his last effort, he tried to stand up but his knees gave up on his weight and he fell down. The sudden motion caused him to throw up in the ground unceremoniously.
He hadn't eaten anything for the last twenty four hours. There was supposed to be nothing inside to throw up. Yet, a handful of pitch black fluid flooded out of his mouth, taking along with it lumps that are the remnants of his organs and stains of his red blood. Some of the fluid sprayed on the bed sheets. The pure white clean as a snow sheets was quickly dotted with many black spots. Not a moment later, these spots instantly ate the surrounding color patches.
The pitch black fluid Lance vomited are the same fluid that can be found in the
monster alien base.
It took a long time before Lance stopped vomiting. His chest and stomach are
still bombarded with pain, his head is also spinning. Yet Lance tried to raise
his eyes and fix his gaze to the chat box.
He knew the main reason why he was vomiting is because of the information displayed in the chat box. He knew some outside force is trying to eradicate this information from his memory. Making him forget of the ugly truth he discovered.
But Lance persisted.
"This world is not a game but my world is."
He read the sentences word after word, not ceasing to stop and vomit the uneasy feeling. Even though he have to endure his sick stomach and the splitting head ache, making his memory groggy. He still did not stop reading those words aloud through gritted teeth.
[The host's previous connection to the Suit's main system is trying to cleanse your memory.]
[Please continue your efforts to read these words again and again to successfully disconnect from the Suit's main control.]
Lance became aware of the mechanical voice in his head when it suddenly said,
[Congratulations, you have successfully removed yourself from the 'Suit's main system. Host, please note that everything in this world will be revealed unto you and the false information from that other side will be removed.]
[The memory instilled by the main system into your head shall be deleted in five minutes.]
At the same time, the alarm in the room he was in rang loudly.
Lance knew there were people gathering in front of his room door. He can hear the hurrying footsteps and the hushed voices from the other side.
He knew he was trapped inside this room because of what happened earlier. But who could have taken him here?
Lance did not move from his position and continued to ponder on the things that just happened to him. The pain was alleviated slightly and he can now stand on his own two feet. When he lifted his gaze towards the door, a series of lines, figures and numbers appeared in his eye sight.
Like a camera lens focusing in one direction. Lance saw with his own two eyes how his sight sharpened beyond a normal human. The sensitivity of his senses were ten times more precise. Without directly opening the door, he knew there were a total of ten people behind the door. Most of them have lighter and slower footsteps. Which made him conclude they are part of the army in a human fortress.
Their voices were extremely low and barely audible, but Lance managed to catch
all of what they said.
"Are you sure he's alive?"
"Yes."
"Corruption index?"
The man who just answered 'Yes' sighed. "It's the same as before. The Repair Department should take a look at our machines… Could be because this one is outdated it kept displaying the same figures without fluctuation."
"Continue to monitor his body index. Make sure the substance from the alien base is completely out of his system. Right after, perform the testing procedure. We cannot afford to delay. The annual monster hunting festival is only six months away. The trainees still need to pass the gate examination for the fortresses."
"I understand."
What followed are the retreating footsteps of seven people from his door.
"How should we explain the losses of nine trainees Sir?"
The man sighed. "Accidents happen all the time. Just put in the reports that a monster attacked and killed all of them. The Marshals will accept that since it's pretty common for mutated animals to escape the forest and roam around the base."
"What should we do with the dead body of the mutated animal sir? Send it to the Research Lab?"
"No, contact them and have them arrange to pick up the body. Since its a new mutation, we don't know how to handle the body without getting ourselves corrupted. The protective equipment we have can only protect us up to the 70th fortress. It's certainly not enough to control the unknown corruption that mutated animal has."
"Yes sir… I understand."
Inside the room, Lance quietly listened to their conversation. It wasn't until a sharp ding sounded in his forehead that he regained some clarity.

There was indeed a small button with the word 'Ace' at the pop up screen. Lance raised his fingers and tapped on the button. He wasn't a little bit curious what this all means nor does he believe all of this is real.
Actually, he doesn't know what to think.
The words from that person in the administration had not sink in fully. He was extremely exhausted; he just wanted to sleep all this stuff away and not think about anything.
But the information of the person he replaced was sent to his head.
The young man's name is Ace. He lived in a city called Northern Lights. Because of the alien invasion, the human population significantly decrease. Some of the surviving humans relied on the advance technology of the government and live in a secluded islands full of modernized weapon.
The Northern Lights is one of the islands that has 50,000 population. To prevent the monster aliens from increasing in number, the youngsters between 12 to 15 were forced to enter the training camp and train under the strict military orders.
