The hospitals soon noticed something must have gone wrong and immediately raised an alarm, in which the government decided to raise an emergency alert and took measures by transferring all infected patients to the isolation center. A few hours after doing so, a first death was reported and the situation turned out for the worse.

A middle aged smart looking man hypothesized that the appearance of this sickness is connected to the red glow outside that appeared only at night. Some of the people believed him, but experts don't due to lack of evidence. Soon, his hypothesis was discarded and he never appeared on the tv screen again.

No one can tell whether he was right or wrong, however, the patterns of diseases and the appearance of illnesses always followed each other in different parts of the world. The rapid turn of events truly caught everyone off guard and panic rippled uncontrollably.

In this day, not one single person was allowed to go out and medical personnel were dispatched in different part of the cities wearing protective equipment to protect themselves. The tv stations reported that the infections affected thousands of people, where fifty percent were babies under two years old. Another fifty percent for children, forty percent for elderly but only one percent for young adults.

This statistics alarmed everyone.

Even Lance who was quietly sitting in his bed frown at this statement. It seems an outside force is deliberately targeting those who are physically weak or not yet developed individuals.

On the third and fourth day, the number of people killed and infected rise to an alarming rate. Not to mention that no young adults or teenagers were counted on the death toll. The red clouds in the night were spreading even further.

Someone in the internet spread the words of that smart looking middle aged man with the evidences of reports that when the red clouds appeared in one place, the sudden illness would instantly spread like wildfire in that area a few hours later.

This evidence was enough to cause massive panic. And gangsters in all corners of the street started to take advantage of this incident by vandalizing, destroying and stealing properties. Many radicals have also came out of the closet to shout that these are the last earth's final days.

On the fifth day, people are busy listening to the news. Nobody has yet noticed… That the medical personnel who knocked on their houses from time to time to check on their well being and brought them rations disappeared. The police patrol cars, military tanks and other convoys used by the government in crisis have also disappeared.

In short, the people were suddenly abandoned and left alone to fend off by themselves.

Watching the young teenagers who were no older than Lance that were in a state of trance made him nervous. This reaction was obvious because these young ones lost their parents. Now that they are alone, they don't know what to do.

After two days, the rations in their houses have run out. These forced the people to come out of their homes and seek shelter where there are plenty of food.

In the afternoon of the seventh day, the tv broadcast an alert to the survivors. Because of the alarming death toll, they are asking the survivors to gather in the north port military base. It seems the infections is airborne and there's a huge possibility that being exposed in the open for a longer period of time will cause a severe illness like high fever.

The dark red clouds seemed to release some toxins that caused such infections. This force everyone to abandon their homes and travel towards the north port military base.

Watching all these incidents being broadcasted live made Lance's scalp numb. He observed from the camera's angle that the sky, even though its still daytime, has some of the red glowing dark clouds that are supposed to appear in night made its appearance.

When a bird's point of view was shot, Lance noticeably paled when the direction that these people were going was actually a trap. The military base was indeed in the north, however, hundreds of hideous looking three meter tall aliens were lying dormant, waiting for their prey to enter their territory.

And what's even weird is the fact that the people in military uniforms were actually behind those aliens but they are not shooting. They seemed to be waiting for orders.

Lance slightly lean his body forward when he noticed that a first group of survivors finally appeared in the main road. He observed the movement of these aliens. They crawl around the building walls and glass pillars as if their long hands have sticky substance that let them stick securely in flat surfaces.

Their movements are extremely fast and nimble. Jumping from one building to another, they use their limbs like how spiders use their webs. When the survivors saw these 'things', they instantly turn around and run away.

Their fear won over their courage to face these things. In a flash, the aliens pounced on them and ate them without leaving any piece of flesh behind.

After a few more hours, another group of survivors appeared, but unlike the first group, they stood up on their ground and fight. These people seemed to have stolen guns from somewhere and used it to defend themselves.

They put up a fight. Even though there are many casualties in their side, they never give up. As Lance watch this scene he became perplexed…

The aliens… seemed to have no intention to kill these new batch of survivors?

Indeed, the aliens held back and did not attack as fiercely as the first. Strangely, the military personnel moved in accordance with the alien's movements. They immediately rushed in to shoot at the aliens. But none of their bullets hit a vital part. Lance had witnessed how hard and thick the skins of the aliens were. So these shots are useless, but the aliens acted as if they were hit fatally.

Lance begins to doubt that these two sides are actually communicating and working together. The aliens are there to attack survivors. Not to kill but to test them. If the group were too scared to put up a fight, they would be eliminated. If they are brave enough to face these strange aliens, then the military will put an act of saving them.

As Lance watched the scene unfold, he was more convinced that his doubts were true.

[This is the screening tests the aliens conducted in judging humans.]

[Those who are strong enough to defend themselves will be spared. And the weaklings will be eliminated on the spot….But not entirely.]

Lance frowned. "What do you mean by that last sentence?"

The scenery on the screen changed. This time, it was inside the north port military base. It seems the forces of the personnel were divided by two. One side has almost a hundred aliens standing by their side. This group has the most advantage. They quickly surrounded the opposing group.

The opposing group did not expect most of their comrades to be taken by the invading aliens. What's even more horrifying is that they are under these aliens' control.

Before the opposing group could react, something exploded from their weapons. Causing their hands to bleed from the explosion. The aliens took this split second as a chance and immediately extended their tentacles into the open wound.

The seedlings were immediately planted into the bloodstream. In just a few seconds, no military personnel survived. All men were parasitized on the spot.

Lance can feel his skin crawl in disgust seeing this scene.

[The aliens have higher intelligence capabilities. Prior to invading Earth, they studied the ways of humans. Cultures, history, language, laws, and habits. Everything has been assimilated in their minds. So living like humans is easy for them.]

Lance clenched his fist. "Then why did they come here?"

[These mecha alien species have their planet destroyed by the infested alien species. Remember the monster aliens? They are classified as the infested alien species that attack, reproduce and kill all living things on one planet before they move on to another healthy living planet.]

The scenery on the screen change. This time, the leftover of the world that was destroyed was evident in all corners of each continent. Three-fourths of the overall human population was eliminated.

Then, at the center of this massive human habitat destruction, a new life form suddenly appeared from the sky. It was a type of unidentified microbe. After it settled in the middle of chaos, it leaked out and spread rapidly. Swallowing what's left in human civilization at a terrifying speed.

This unidentified microbe dyed the objects black and white. It also has caused an abnormal mutation in animals. Giving birth to the unspeakable beasts that roamed around in the highly affected places. The more the microbe spread, the more it stole away the plant, animals, and human life.
