Viola guided the group to a secret basement in the house. Walking through it, the group arrives at a spacious room, where a beautiful woman is reviewing her papers, Viola says:
"Excuse me, ma'am, but I bring guests--"
"What brings you here Viola? I'm a little busy to answer–"
His speech is interrupted when he looks at the group, especially at Leslie.
"Leslie, the hawk!"
Rudra thinks to himself: "(...Hawk... So that's how he is known by everyone...)"
The Courtesan introduces herself as Audreyn, and greets the group. Leslie resumes: "We haven't seen each other for a long time; Viola has grown up a lot."
Viola reveals herself to be Audreyn's daughter, and remains in the room. Leslie asks about the situation in the city and the region:
"How have things been since my last visit?"
"Not much has changed. Not many supplies, not much cavalry... inequality reigns in this messy zone."
"Part of the "massage parlor" expenses have gone to helping those in need."
Arianna, upon hearing this, was surprised, thinking to herself:
" (...the establishment's money is used for those in need...) "
Leslie responds, "Your heart has gone soft after all this time..."
She sighs: "The girls at the establishment also try to help, but even though this is the best establishment in the region, the movement here has gradually decreased due to rumors of advances by Galèsia's troops."
"And Aleonia's damn thing doesn't do anything to make them back down–!"
"Arggh–! This is frustrating me so much...! Why such inequality?"
"Don't say that, my mother. You're doing your best at the end of it all..."
Leslie takes a deep breath and asks about the letters:
"Have you been receiving letters from Magnusson?"
"Magni hasn't been sending many letters to his informants for almost a month, and mine are never likely to arrive... so I'm just withholding outdated information for now, I can't be of much help, Leslie..."
Leslie responds, "Keep your head up, Courtesan, none of this is your fault."
"We're in deep shit too."
she asks, "What happened? Did you manage to get the letter to Lord Dallbert in Lisithea?"
"Yes, but the mission was worthless. The city was decimated a while later, we had to flee in a hurry, Obelisk decided to stay and collect information."
Arianna turns her face to the side, a sign of sadness because of what happened to her city.
"You know... that bastard never dies. He has active eyes all the way from Balterlutt to Hault."
"I hope he's okay..."
The courtesan turns her gaze to the group and says:
"I see you have acquired good men since last time." – Audreyn's words leave the knights confused.
" (...So there were others before us...and they did not have a favorable fate...) ".
Leslie responds: "These people really are survivors. They've been through so much and they haven't even pissed themselves yet."
Edmond replied: "What do you mean, still!?"
The courtesan laughs with relief, and replies: "Don't pay attention to Leslie's sense of humor; he's always been like that."
The conversation takes a more strategic turn, Leslie argues with Audreyn about a new route, Leslie: "Audreyn, we can't continue, because of the rain."
She replies: "Yes... this region has strong geological problems such as landslides and rocks. Moving from here to another city is asking for suicide."
"However, I can provide you with a safer alternative."
The courtesan asks her daughter Viola to leave and look at the entrance to the establishment, and asks Leslie for her map, and takes a pen and ink, and begins to draw a crossing, and says:
"You will have to take a detour along the road main road that leads to Livero, and enter through the forest of Oraccio."
Leslie asks: "Oraccio!? That killer forest!? Are you crazy, Audreyn?"
"I know Oraccio will never be a good option for any merchant, but that's the only option you have without having to deal with rockslides and landslides."
Leslie puts his hand on his head, thinking hard: "Urghhh... I didn't want to risk it... but I guess I have no choice."
"Any alternative will leave you having to deal with Lupards, beasts or battlefield soldiers."
Leslie, without a
choice, agrees with Audreyn's words and her strategy.
Everything was moving forward so they could leave, even with the heavy rain slightly decreasing, when the group hears screams from the hall, it was Viola, so the group decides to go, but Audrey interrupts them: "No--! You have to stay here!"
Connor says: "But… what about her!?"
"What do you think will happen if whoever is up there sees you? I'll go there."
"Leslie, get ready. I don't know what we'll have to face now." So, Audreyn went to resolve the situation upstairs.
The Courtesan arrived upstairs, and attended to soldiers who pressed her daughter on the group that entered the establishment:
"Excuse me, Lady Courtesan; Some civilians informed me that they saw a group of mysterious, hooded people on horses coming to this region."
Audreyn, wanting to deflect the area Sergeant's questions, says:
"I don't know what you're talking about, Sergeant. No hooded group came in here."
"And I kindly ask you not to harass my girls, especially my daughter if you don't want to be deported from your position by your superiors who are also associated with this establishment."
Soon, the sergeant let go of Viola. The girls at the establishment began to stare at the sergeant, putting pressure on him, and he responded to Courtesan: "I-I think I went a little too far..."
"I apologize for causing this confusion."
"I'm withdrawing for now"
she replies: "It's already late, if this happens again, the doors of this establishment will be closed to you."
"We do not adhere to violence."
So, the sergeant leaves for a moment, Audreyn asks Viola to prepare the back exit for the group. Audreyn returns to the room quickly, and excitedly says:
"You must leave as quickly as possible!"
Rudra asks, “What happened?”
she responds, "The sergeant and soldiers are patrolling the place, and it won't be long until they find you."
"Viola is preparing the exit from the back for you"
Lloyd asks, "But what about our horses–?"
The courtesan interrupts: "I'll deal with them-! Just go quickly!"
The group decides to go up accompanied by Audreyn, and Viola guided them back to the exit of the establishment. Meanwhile, the Sergeant who was outside, observed 11 horses in the stable, and decides to return inside.
The group follows Viola and Audreyn, when they hear the noise, and the scream of the sergeant from before. Audreyn says:
"Viola, take them out, I'll slow you down."
"But mom–!"
"There's no time, take them!"
Viola, worried and sad, decides to take them under her mother's insistence. Audreyn returns to the Sergeant and says:
"I think I was pretty clear with the warning before, Sargent–"
Before she could finish her sentence, Audreyn had a sword pointed at her neck.
"Looks like you've been having some special guests, huh?"
"(...Damn, the horses... he must have seen them in the stables...)."
The sergeant asks succinctly: "Where...are...they?"
She remains adamant about the sergeant's question, she says:
"Even if I knew, it has nothing to do with this establishment, and with us."
"Last time, before I denounce you as a traitor who harbors fugitives".
The girls at the establishment looked scared at Audreyn's situation. Soon, other soldiers arrived:
"Sir, your orders!".
"Search every corner of this establishment. They can't have gone very far."
...
On the way out, there were alleys where they could avoid the soldiers' focus, Viola says:
"You can follow this path, always to the right, and you will come across the exit gates."
“Thank you very much, Viola.”, Leslie thanked
“Your mother would be proud of your resilience.”
Viola looks down, sad, and Leslie understands his situation, and said that they will do everything possible to end all inequality in the country.
Leaving Viola behind and running through the rain-soaked alleys, the group follows Viola's direction to the gates.
Edmond says, "These alleys look like wormholes!"
Gael responds: "Have you ever been to one?"
Edgar says, "This is no time for sarcasm! Come on."
After running for a while, they found the route to the exit. Leslie says:
"Over here! quickly!"
"But-! Our horses!" - Edmond asked
"I don't think we can do anything about that, they are in the establishment." - Gael responds.
Soon, from inside, the sounds of strong hooves could be heard heading towards the exit, it was the horses, Arianna says:
"The horses-!"
Edgar says, "But...how?"
On the horizon was Viola, who shouted, "Make this effort worthwhile! For my mother, for Bathus, for the whole country–!"
Leslie and the group nod at Viola's words. They recover their horses and say goodbye.
Walking a certain path, Alyfir says indignantly:
"I can't believe it--! We ran away again! And again! Without doing anything."
"Alyfir, I know you're outraged, but we need to calm down–" - Gael tries to calm Alyfir.
"No-! We see good people getting hurt, even though they are innocent!", but is interrupted by Bart
"We can't do anything--!" - Humbert also shares his frustration.
The rest of the group remains silent, frustrated that they can't do anything. Leslie asks everyone to stop the horses, and says:
"All of you. Let's go back and save the Courtesan and the place."
Everyone is confused by Leslie's words, Edgar asks:
"Why now!?".
"Do you think I'm not frustrated too, YOU SHITS!?"
"I've seen worse than you've ever seen on this earth–!"
"Unfortunately, yet another good-hearted member of our alliance has gone to the injustice of our country–!"
"And that makes me mad enough to skin dozens of Galèsian soldiers."
Everyone lowers their heads. Leslie continues:
"I understand your condition, but…, we have responsibilities that we must follow."
"The Courtesan sacrificed everything so we could escape safely. All because of this venture, so we have to make it worth it, you idiots–!"
The captain words weren't the most comforting, but they made solid sense given the current situation. Everyone continued with their heads held high, with the rain stopping, leaving the weather cloudy and late for the next route, The Dense Oraccio Forest.
