You take a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment settling upon you. You begin to recite the ancient text, your voice strong and steady as you weave the intricate words together. The Pharaoh and his courtiers listen intently, their expressions ranging from surprise to admiration. Crown Prince Nefer-Hotep, however, remains silent, his eyes never leaving your face.
As you recite the sacred text, you feel a deep connection to the words, your voice resonating with the power of the ancient teachings. The Pharaoh's advisor listens closely, his eyes widening as you flawlessly recite the intricate phrases and ideas.
"To take on any before me shalt grant thee punishment in my honor. How doth thou expect to outrun me? When I, am already here? Fear not the harshness of thy neighbor, for if he seek to turn ye away from my path of double truths, thou must strike him down and decorate thine living space with his bones, drink from thy cup of his blood and feast for thyself of his organs. It is not a sin to miss a round of laughter for the evening, it is a very deadly sin indeed to miss all laughter for a moon drowning in total, laugh or thou shalt be laughed at as ye taketh thyn last breath. Be not afriad to die for me, for death be a blessing all good Onnori must embrace to worship me in the correct way. It is more a corruption to turn thy back than to lift thy head in my temple"
The Pharaoh himself nods in approval, a small smile playing on his lips. When you finish, the chamber falls silent.
The Pharaoh leans forward in his throne, his eyes boring into yours. "You have proven yourself worthy, my friend. Your knowledge of our sacred teachings is truly impressive." He pauses for a moment, his gaze shifting to take in the other members of his court.
The High Priest you met earlier winks at you, grinning.
"You may proceed," says the Pharaoh, his voice resonating with authority. As you step forward, you feel a surge of adrenaline coursing through your veins. You bow low before the Pharaoh, your head pressed to the cold, hard stone.
As you rise, you feel the weight of the Pharaoh's blessing upon you. The High Priest steps forward, his eyes twinkling with excitement. "You are about to undergo a series of trials that will test your physical and mental limits," he says, his voice low and intense.
You nod, steeling yourself for the challenges ahead. The High Priest leads you through a series of winding corridors, the walls adorned with intricate hieroglyphs and paintings depicting scenes of ancient battles and religious rituals.
After what seems like hours, you arrive at a large, ornate door. The High Priest gestures for you to enter, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. You take a deep breath and push open the door, stepping into a dimly lit chamber. The room is dominated by a large, rectangular pool of murky water.
Around its edges, a series of platforms rise and fall with the undulating water, each one bearing a different obstacle or challenge. You can feel your heart race as you take in the scene before you. The High Priest smirks, clearly pleased with your reaction. "Welcome to the Trials of the Pharaoh."
You gulp, looking at the ominous pool before you. "I am ready, High Priest. Let the trials begin." Your voice is steady, though your heart is pounding in your chest. The High Priest nods, his eyes never leaving yours. "Very well," he says, his voice ringing with authority.
The water in the pool begins to churn, small waves rippling outwards. Suddenly, the first platform rises from the depths, bearing a gleaming sword. You steel yourself, bracing for what comes next. The High Priest steps back, motioning for you to approach the platform.
You nod, understanding the gravity of the situation.. As you approach the platform, you feel your heart pounding in your chest. The sword gleams in the dim light, its edge razor sharp.
You grip the hilt of the sword tightly, feeling the cool metal against your sweaty palms. Slowly, you raise it above your head, preparing for the first challenge. Goblins make their way out of the murky depths toward you!
With a cry of determination, you leap onto the platform, raising the sword above your head. The goblins emerge from the water, their small, bestial eyes fixed on you. You can feel the adrenaline coursing through your veins as you prepare for battle.
The first goblin leaps forward, its sharp claws gleaming in the dim light. You parry its attack with your sword, the metal clashing against the goblin's leather armor.
You spin out of the way as another goblin attacks, avoiding its claws by mere inches. The battle rages on, your sword flashing in the dim light as you defend yourself against the onslaught of goblins. As you fight, you notice that the water level in the pool is steadily rising.
You take a deep breath, your mind racing as you try to formulate a plan. The High Priest watches impassively from the sidelines, his face devoid of emotion. You can feel the water lapping at your feet now, the platform starting to tremble under your weight.
You leap from one platform to another, avoiding the grasping claws of the goblins. Your sword flashes in the dim light, cutting down one goblin after another. But even as you fight, you can feel the water rising steadily, the force of it pushing you back towards the center of the pool.
Suddenly, an idea strikes you. You leap off the platform and onto another, higher one. As you expected, the goblins follow you. You turn to face them, your sword at the ready. "Now!" you shout, and with a great cry, you and the goblins leap together into the water.
The water is freezing cold, but you push through the pain as you swim towards the edge of the pool. The goblins are quickly overwhelmed by the icy water, their small bodies unable to handle the shock. As you reach the side, you haul yourself out of the water, gasping for air.
The High Priest nods approvingly as he watches you emerge from the water. "Well done," he says, his voice ringing with admiration.
You smile weakly, still catching your breath. "Thank you," you reply, your teeth chattering from the cold.
"Time for the next trial" The High Priest leads you into a dark corridor.
You follow the High Priest into the dark corridor, your heart pounding with anticipation. As you walk, you can feel the weight of the Pharaoh's blessing upon you, bolstering your courage. Suddenly, the corridor opens up into a large, brightly lit chamber.
The chamber is filled with a dazzling array of shimmering crystals, each one reflecting the light in a thousand different ways. In the center of the room stands a pedestal, upon which rests a glittering crown. You gasp as you take in the sight before you.
The High Priest gestures towards the pedestal. "The next trial is simple," he says, his voice echoing through the chamber. "You must navigate your way through the maze of crystals without touching the floor."
You nod, understanding the challenge before you. The crystals shift and move as you approach, their reflections blurring and distorting the world around you. You step onto the first crystal, feeling it vibrate beneath your feet. You leap from one crystal to another, your movements fluid and graceful.
The High Priest watches intently as you navigate through the maze of crystals. He seems impressed by your agility and balance. After what feels like an eternity, you reach the pedestal and grasp the glittering crown. You feel a surge of power course through your veins as you place the crown upon your head.
The High Priest nods approvingly. "Well done," he says, his voice ringing with admiration. "You have almost proven yourself worthy of the Pharaoh's blessing." You feel a sense of accomplishment wash over you as you stand before the High Priest, clad in the glittering crown.
"But all that glitters is not gold" he whispers into your ear as the crown turns into a snake! the snake slithers away and he leads you after it. "The next trial is here" he leads you to another chamber and the snake has grown in size, a massive hissing cobra that towers over you both. "Defeat the beast"
You gulp, looking at the massive cobra before you. "Understood," you reply, your voice steady despite the fear coursing through your veins. The snake rears back, its hood spreading wide as it prepares to strike. You tense, ready to dodge the deadly blow.
As the snake lunges forward, you leap to the side, narrowly avoiding the strike. The snake hisses angrily as it turns to face you again. You can feel your heart pounding in your chest, your breath coming faster.
The High Priest watches intently as you dance around the snake, avoiding its deadly strikes. Suddenly, he motions for you to stop. You freeze, wondering what's happening. "It's time for the final test," he says, his voice echoing through the chamber.
You nod, steeling yourself for what comes next. The snake coils and uncoils, its massive body undulating in the dim light. Suddenly, it launches itself towards you, its jaws wide open. You dodge to the side, feeling the hot breath of the snake on your skin.
The snake circles around you, its tail lashing out in a deadly whip. You leap over it, landing lightly on the ground. The High Priest steps forward, holding out a small vial filled with a clear liquid. "Drink this," he says, his voice steady.
You take the vial from him, your hands shaking slightly. "What is it?" you ask, your voice barely above a whisper. "It's the antidote," he replies, his eyes fixed on you. "Drink it and face the snake again." You nod, taking a deep breath.
You raise the vial to your lips and drink the clear liquid inside. Immediately, you feel a rush of energy coursing through your veins. You turn to face the snake again, feeling a sense of determination wash over you. The snake rears back, its hood spreading wide as it prepares to strike.
Suddenly, you remember the potion you drank earlier. You steady yourself and take a deep breath. As the snake lunges again, you dodge to the side, feeling a surge of power course through your veins. You leap over the snake's tail, landing lightly on the ground.
The High Priest watches in amazement as you effortlessly evade the snake's attacks. "Impressive," he murmurs. The snake hisses angrily, its body coiling and uncoiling as it tries to strike you.
You step forward, your eyes fixed on the snake. You can feel the power coursing through your veins, giving you strength and agility beyond your wildest dreams. The snake lunges again, but you're ready for it this time.
You dodge to the side, feeling the heat of its breath on your skin. Suddenly, you lash out with your sword, slicing through the air with a sharp whistle. The blade connects with the snake's neck, severing its head from its body.
The snake's body writhes for a moment before going still. You stand there, panting heavily, your sword held aloft in triumph. The High Priest steps forward, a look of admiration on his face. "Well done," he says, reaching out to place a hand on your shoulder.
You feel a surge of energy course through your veins as you look up at the High Priest. "Thank you," you reply, your voice ringing with confidence. The High Priest nods, his eyes fixed on you. "You have now truly proven yourself worthy of the Pharaoh's blessing."
