Context-
The Sensenmann are children (5-16) who have died but still wish to live.
They are granted a second life, not as humans but as Reapers, who guide humans through their lives until it’s time to take their souls.

Or children who have died but are not sure where to go after death, and has been in limbo guiding others for a while.
(Like Rory, but that’s a story for another day:)

But those same Reapers can swap souls with the living if the living is on the verge of death and is not aware.
(They have to erase every memory they have of them)

So when Matts went out into the hall and she saw those images floating around, she was just seeing her memories of her life, or her life was flashing before her eyes, and if she reaches the end of the hall…
Not gonna tell cuz that’s a spoiler.
Will she reach the end? Who knows!

(Also there are other ways of Sensenmann being reborn, but that’s another spoiler ;)
