“They traveled far, far away from the Slime Hope they knew and started fighting enemy after enemy. The ones leading them through the battles were the Four Great Heroes we all know and Love today. Bugs, an Orange Slime who has fought harder than anyone but they also lost a lot during the journey. I remember him as the one who always encouraged others at their lowest. His favorite saying was ‘You can do this, then you can do anything. All you have to do is keep trying.’

“Brave, a Blue Slime who fought with everything she had to make sure everyone was kept safe during the journey. She’ll also tell you a few white lies just so you’re not in trouble. She kept the stories alive when she finally reached here and she’ll be glad to know that those stories live on.

“Finally, a Purple Slime called Protect. I’m sure she’s around here somewhere but be warned, Protect is the one you should watch out for. When we were traveling she was the first one to spot danger and the last one to finish the battles, she took protection to another level for her young age. But that didn’t mean we all were not terrified when she would twitch in her sleep. Anything could set her off.

“There you have it, the Four Slime Warrior’s. The true great Heroes of Slime Hope.”

“Who was the last one?”

“Yeah! What about the Leader?”

“The Journey here was long and fraught with many dangers, with each step they took they got stronger and most importantly away from the dangers behind them. They Crossed River’s of Lava, Oceans of Water, Through the Thick Fog, Over Gaping Holes in the Ground and finally through the Quietest, Calmest Forests any of us has ever seen. That was where they decided their new home was going to be.” The young Slime’s had hung onto every word, gasping at the horrors they faced and cheering them on, to laughing. “The Four Great Slime Warrior’s, Bugs, Brave, Protect and Untameable.”

“Whoa!”

“They all taught each other the old ways and taught the new generation of Slime Warrior’s. Even though they felt that they were not valued enough, they were everything to me.”

“If they were so great,” the Orange Slime spoke up. “Why are we always cowering in fear now?”

“I’m not sure, it would have been better to move when those monsters started getting closer. But all of you stayed, for what reason I couldn’t tell you for I do not know.”

“Why didn’t you wake up sooner?”

“Where are the Slime Warrior’s now?”

“Who are they?”

“I guard during the Night, as for the Slime Warriors, those Three I trusted as Friends. As for Who they are, well, they could be you.”

“Oob, time for bed!” the Orange Slime was about to speak again but the one calling interrupted once more. “Untameable, you’re awake early today! Thank you for protecting us during the night.”

The little Slime’s went to the bigger ones, who seem to be Caretakers, and squeezed under the roots of the large trees. The larger Slime’s, as soon as the little ones were safely away, fell from the tree’s branches and started their patrols.

“Mr. Untameable, after all this time you still remember me,” an Old Purple Slime approached them this time instead of the usual Old Orange one. “Thank you for telling everyone that I was a Slime Warrior. A Warrior called Protect.”

“I knew you would get that I was talking about you, it’s been too long, Protect.”

“It has and the years are treating me well. You never talk about the Journey here, now we know where we’ve come from. Slime Hope, do you think we could ever return?”

“I’m not sure,” they said honestly. They knew the place was made up and they don’t know if it is a place that can be visited. “What has happened to Brave?”

“She’s... she has lived a long life as I have. She will forever be remembered as the Slime that traveled with you- us from Slime Hope. I’m sure my son will pass on the stories we tell.”

“Ma you should be resting, what are you doing out here?” A Medium Purple Slime wandered to them.

“Son, meet Mr. Untameable. He’ll tell you all about the stories you’ve heard when we were young,” Protect smiled, the son looking at them with skepticism.

“He doesn’t look old.”

“He’s a very special type of Slime. A Tamable Slime, so he won’t age like the rest of us. It’s what makes him strong and wise. Someday you’ll see why we hold him in such high regard, right now he’s resting. He’s traveled a long way from home and fought such strong opponents along the way just to protect us and you.”

“Mr. Untameable,” the young Purple Slime started respectfully, “Thank you for bringing us here, to a place where we get slain everyday for fun!”

“Son!” they knew that the young Slime wanted to say more. It also didn’t go past them that the Slime hated them for staying here not helping. They knew that when the shadows and monsters started getting closer it was only a matter of time of what was going to happen. They didn’t think it would happen this soon, but now that they think about it, what was the life expectancy of a Slime?

“When the monsters started getting close, I knew what was going to happen.”

“Why didn’t you move us?!” the young Slime asked. They act like they were meant to lead them like he did in the stories, when in truth they had spawned with them and they made up stories of what had happened.

“Why didn’t any of you move?” they countered their question, “Leaving me here is your best choice and yet you all stayed.”

“Because!” the young Purple Slime started but then started to think, “This is our home.”

“Well then, Defend it. Defend it properly or leave to the Deeper side of the forest. Because only the Strong can stand up to them now. From what I’ve seen, you’ve all grown weak,” they had to make them see reason, and the best way was to hurt them. They don’t want to see anymore terrified Slime’s or hear any terrified screams. They didn’t want to be the one that would end the lives of these Slime’s who have come so far on their own. They have to leave so they won’t be hunted down for Experience Points and Loot. From what they experienced earlier they can’t be harmed by the Player’s.

“You’re just going to abandon us now?” he was still mad. “After all we’ve done?”

“I better not see any of you in the morning.” It was their turn to protect them. The Slime’s around them were quiet then started to go about their nightly routine. The young Purple Slime huffed then went off with the others, Protect sat with them worried.

“I’m so sorry, Mr. Untameable... He’s not-”

“No need to apologize, if anything it’s my fault for not telling either of you to leave me behind.”

“How could we?”

“You should. I’m a Tamable Slime and with all of you gone from this area those monsters will leave as well. Leave me behind, you can come back and visit every now and then but only if it’s safe enough to return. I don’t want any more of you to get hurt just because of me.”

“You would do this for us?”

“And more, we’ve come this far have we not? Even though your story was a bit of a white lie. I still consider you a Slime Warrior.”

“I have noticed some of the Old Slime’s merging with you, do you think that we can send our old to you instead? To give them a more peaceful passing.”

“I’d be honored, you are the new Leader now. What you say goes and I know you still have one last Journey in you to lead them to safety once more, Protect.”

“We will leave tonight. Please take care Mr. Untameable, we will miss you, we will always remember the brave things you’ve done. Good night, Hero of Slime Hope.”

“Good night, Slime Warrior Protect, Leader of Slime Hope.”

Noise.

There was nothing but talking nearby.

Opening their eyes they saw a large group of Player’s standing there staring. Glancing around they noticed that it was just them and no other Slime in sight, so it must have been quite some time since the other Slime’s have left. Or not enough...

Well, looking at them it seems they were now the center of attention.

“It’s awake!” A Player with a dark robe called out and tried to walk forward but was pushed aside by others who also wanted to get closer.

“Quick give it something!” Someone shouted farther away, Player’s of different kinds shoved many objects or food items in their face and the repeated text on the Green Screen popped up.

The shock was frightening and having so many things and faces shoved towards them was nerve wracking! Whatever came up with the idea of trying to tame them was psychotic or just did it for a Quest.

‘Forget this! If this is going to happen repeatedly then I’d rather the Auto thing be turned on!’

“Aw man! I got rejected as well! No wonder it's called Untameable on the Forums.”

“This slime sucks!”

‘There! Take that Things words to heart! Don’t get a Slime for a Pet! Also, why are they all crowding me? Why would anyone want a Slime to Tame? Some sort of Quest? Menu,’ The same Blank Green Screen showed. Staring at the blank screen showed no signs of life or movement. Their body stretched out in different directions as if they were a snake yawning, then they closed their eyes.

“The thing fell asleep? This is-”

The screen startled them but then they started to laugh to themselves in little quivers, closing their eyes again they started to hear that the crowd was starting to thin out. After a little while they opened their eyes again, the Player’s had moved along once they realized that they wouldn’t get anywhere with them ‘sleeping’.

They relaxed now as they started to see their surroundings better, the town seems to have gotten bigger. A few added buildings here and there but nothing else was noteworthy. The green waves on the other hand had a few new buildings dotted along the hills. They were sure it was important to the Player’s some way or another.

The Player’s that weren’t interested in them were walking by on the dirt path, they wore different robes and armour, they heard some of them talking about their Quests and what they needed next or where they were heading. Some walked out further and brought up a scroll of some sort and disappeared.

The sounds didn’t bother them as much as they thought it would at first. But the Dark and Silence was still preferable to them but this was alright. They tried their own Menu screen again but was met with the same thing as before.

‘Haven’t they fixed this yet?’

‘... Well, at least I know it’s there. Just not for me, what do I have to do to unlock this?’

‘Where’s the nearest Slime?’ mostly thinking to themselves, the Green Screen showed a message again.

‘You’re going to break at some point. Stop,’ they weren’t surprised that the Screen might be alive or the thing behind it was. They knew that if the Error messages kept popping up they were going to get looked at, how they knew was still a mystery to them. The Player’s were starting to die down and a familiar sound was heard.

[’OLD SLIME’ would like to MERGE with you.]

They were relieved at the messages as they rolled in and when they looked at he Menu it showed everything again. ‘Guess I can’t leave it unchecked for too long.’

Going into their Inventory they took the Coin out and ate it. They hoped that whatever it does it fixes most of the problems that have been popping up.
