I don't have time to waste, I need to go to Legorio now!
Leaving the house at full speed, I run along the dirt roads that take me to Legorio.
It's hard to maintain a running pace, especially because I've never strengthened my body to become more resistant to fatigue.
I don't think I've ever reached the kingdom as quickly as I did this time.
As I get close to the large entrance gate, I can see more soldiers than usual moving quickly.
Entering the kingdom, the soldiers are checking the houses and helping people evacuate.
Apparently, they are already preparing for the attack.
As I'm passing by the houses, I see Yanma, William's fencing teacher.
I've never had a true conversation with her, it seems like we'll have to get to know each other before a war.
Approaching her, I see soldiers carrying furniture stop outside a house while she talks to civilians, they are probably the residents of that house.
Yanma says something to a knight near her, and he guides the man and woman somewhere.
"Good morning!" I say with a bit of embarrassment as I walk closer.
Yanma turns to me and analyzes me from head to toe.
"You must be William's brother, right?" How did she guess?
I guess it doesn't matter now...
"That's right. I thought I never introduced myself." I say.
"William told me about you." She speaks. "Seeing you more calmly, you are a lot like your brother." Yanma adds.
"Hmm..." I give a small smile as I scratch the back of my head, not knowing what to say. "What is the situation?" I ask without blinking.
"We are evacuating the population." She's looking around. "What are you doing here?" She asks.
"I decided that I need to act, I need to protect what is important to me..."
"In other words, you want to participate in the war." Yanma deduces.
"Basically..." I say. "Are you going to be against this?" I ask, already knowing the answer.
"Of course I am. But I'm sure telling you to go home isn't going to work, is it?" She says.
"Exactly." I respond smiling.
"I'm not going to say I trust you because I've never seen you fight, but I have high expectations, Light Rods." When someone says my full name, they mean it!
"Yes ma'am!" I think this is how a superior responds...
"Heh." Yanma lets out a small laugh. "The only thing you have that's similar to your brother is your face, because your personality is completely different." She concludes.
"I fully agree..."
"Either way, know that in a war you will see things you never wanted." She takes on a more serious voice. "You might actually die, and you won't get a second chance."
When it comes to death, I have a degree.
"Relax, dying is just a detail." I answer.
Yanma looks confused, and I can understand.
Speaking of dying, could it be that if I die in this world, I will be reincarnated in another world, or perhaps in my old world?
I don't think it's time for me to cosplay Aristotle now...
"You're really different from your brother..." Yanma says. "If you want, you can help with the evacuation of the civilians, it would be a great help." She says.
"Your wish is an order."
"You can treat me normally, okay?"
"I almost forgot." I start walking, but I remember I still have something to discuss, so I turn to her again. "When will the super-powered adventurers arrive?" I ask.
"Rodic and Zoe?" She questions. "Rodic was in the kingdom of Flirmon when the news arrived; he will probably arrive this morning or this morning." She responds. "The Supreme Mage is expected to arrive in two or three days." She adds.
Two or three days?
It means that Marco might arrive before she does.
"That means we'll have to hold off Marco's army until she arrives..." I think out loud.
"Not exactly." Yanma heard me. "We will fight for victory. We shouldn't hold on to the hope that the Supreme Magician will solve everything; it may seem contradictory, but I don't want to give her trouble." Yanma completes.
It makes sense. I shouldn't imagine that we will win just because of the Supreme Mage. We must try to defeat Marco with our own strength.
"I understood." I say. "Let's beat Marco before Zoe arrives!"
"I hope so..." Yanma comments.
"Good luck." I say. "We'll need." I pass through Yanma, looking for families who are still moving their furniture out of their homes.
I approach them and offer my help, which they accept without hesitation.
This was repeated a few times as he collaborated with the residents and knights to evacuate the population.
The knights had prepared carriages and carts that would take the villagers and their furniture to a nearby village to the north, in route to the kingdom of Flirmon.
There, they will stay until the issue is resolved.
During my work, I was thinking about the safe and its relationship with Epic Weapons.
Does Legorio have a traitor?
If it is a traitor, it must be someone who is close to the king or close to the vault.
I can only remember those two guards I saw when I was in the castle.
But even if they know that an Epic Weapon is there, they wouldn't be able to leave Legorio without leaving a trace...
Maybe Yanma knows something about it, but I don't know if she will answer because this must be something extremely secret.
Night arrives, and the clouds try to cover the moon. The few remaining residents are already retreating to the north gate.
The royal family is leaving the castle, and in the distance, I see Ryza leaving through the front gates along with the king and queen.
In front of the castle, a carriage is waiting to take them to safety.
Ryza lifts her head and watches me from a distance. Immediately, she comes running over with a somewhat worried look.
She arrives in front of me, panting.
"What are you doing here?" She asks as she catches her breath.
"I will fight." I respond smiling.
"Are you crazy?!" Ryza exclaims. "You should stay with your family. There's no way of knowing if you'll stay alive. I know you're strong, but this is too much!" She speaks without giving me the opportunity to say anything. "You... You're not going to die, are you?" Ryza gets teary-eyed as she tries to hold back crying.
I move closer and look into her eyes. So I put my hand on his shoulder.
"Don't worry; I'm strong." I answer seriously. "I need to act, I need to protect the place I love. I can't stand by while everyone is fighting."
Ryza stands there with wide eyes. She then rests her head on my chest and holds my arms.
"If you die, I'll kill you!" She says and runs to the carriage.
I think she understood me...
After a few minutes have passed, I rest on a bench in the square in front of the castle.
Hera and Richard must be worried, I don't usually come home late.
I'm sorry, parents, but I'm going to have to sleep in the kingdom.
I just worry about William. He will definitely look for me. I just hope he doesn't come to the kingdom before the battle begins.
Suddenly, I see some soldiers leaving their position to go to the east gate, something must be happening there.
Rising from the bench, I follow the knights until I see the great eastern gate, which is opening.
Until, a black carriage, with golden edges and white horses pulling it, begins to pass through the gates.
Yanma is also waiting for the carriage, just like all the knights.
When the carriage crosses completely, it stops, and its door opens.
It's very dark, and the little light coming from the lamps makes the lighting yellowish.
"Who is he?" I ask Yanma.
"This is the gold badge adventurer, Rodic Redlar."
