Love Beyond Measures [Book 2]

Chapter IV: Kiss Me, We're On Fire, Babe

Chapter IV: Kiss Me, We're On Fire, Babe

Aug 12, 2024

Johnny's POV

The next day.

Johnny awoke to the sensation of warm air on my face. He shifted slightly.

"Sweetheart, we have to get up," Daniel said while giving him a kiss on the forehead.

Johnny smiled, my eyes still closed.

"I know you're awake, Johnny. Get up," Daniel grumbled, hitting him with a pillow.

Johnny shielded himself. "Ok, ok, I'm awake."

Johnny got up and went to the bathroom.

"Hurry up, we have to get to the airport."

"Alright, Larusso, chill," Johnny responded.

Johnny took a shower, putting on some black jeans and a blue shirt with a flower print on it.

When he re-entered the bedroom, Daniel was looking at him, arms crossed.

"What?" Johnny asked.

"You haven't called me by my last name in so long," Daniel mumbled.

"Must've slipped out," Johnny quickly replied.

"Yeah, probably," he commented, his voice sad.

Johnny rolled his eyes, laughing. "I'm sorry, c'mere sunshine."

Daniel smiled and went up to him, arms wide, to give him a little hug. Johnny gave him a chaste kiss on the lips, making him giggle.

"Better?" Johnny asked.

He gave me a sloppy kiss before replying, "Better."

"Don't forget to bring your suitcase and passport downstairs," Daniel reminded him.

"I won't"

Johnny went downstairs with his passport and suitcase in his hand. They were only going on the honeymoon for about a week, so he didn't pack too much.

Being the sweet husband he is, he decided to take Daniel's suitcase downstairs for him. Little did he know that was a terrible mistake. Daniel's suitcase was extremely heavy. Johnny couldn't even get it down the first flight of stairs.

"Sunshine, do you have bricks in your suitcase or something? Why is it so heavy?"

Daniel got out of the shower; he was wearing some grey shorts and a white t-shirt.

Daniel sighed when he saw Johnny struggling. "I just packed the essentials, it's not that heavy."

He picked it up with ease and carried it down the stairs.

"Stop being so dramatic, Johnny."

Johnny was so confused, he was almost certain that I'm stronger than Daniel.

Johnny shook my head, coming back to reality. He ran downstairs.

"What do you want for breakfast?" he asked Daniel.

"What? Johnny, we don't have time for breakfast; we can get something at the airport."

"But I'm starving," Johnny whined.

"I don't give a fuck, just put on your shoes and get in the car."

"Bossy," Johnny mumbled under my breath.

Johnny put on his white shoes and tied his laces. He took his suitcase and went outside to the car, not bothering to wait for Daniel.

He put his suitcase in the trunk and got into the car.

"Hurry up, sunshine; we don't want to miss our flight, do we?" Johnny snickered.

Daniel huffed and marched outside, placing his suitcase in the trunk, closing it, and entering the car.

Once Daniel got in, he turned on the engine, and before they knew it, they were speeding off.

**

Their apartment was an hour away from the airport, so they had some time to kill. Speaking of their apartment, Johnny was thinking of upgrading it to an actual house since he actually had the money. You might be wondering what his job is. He now works as a lawyer at Bobby's dad's law firm. He's been doing it for the past few years behind Daniel's back. He knew he probably should've told him, but he wanted to surprise him. Johnny thinks it will be worth it in the end.

"Can I put some music on?" Daniel asked, startling Johnny.

Johnny hummed in approval as he put on the song "Time After Time."

Johnny groaned, "Why can't we put some rock music on?"

"Johnny, we've had this conversation before."

Johnny huffed. Whatever, I don't have time to argue now.

**

When they made it to the airport, they checked our baggage in, and since they had some time to kill, they went to the shops.

Much to Johnny's disapproval, they went to a perfume shop.

"What do you want to get?" Johnny asked Daniel.

"We need to get something for my relatives who didn't come to the wedding."

Johnny groaned, "But airport stuff is so expensive, why can't we just get something when we get there?"

Daniel rolled his eyes. "You're not paying for it, so you have nothing to worry about."

They spent a while in the shops, buying gifts for Daniel's relatives, before they had to board our flight.

Let's get this honeymoon started.

**

The first thing they did when they got to Rome was, of course, go to the Pantheon. It was beautiful. The Pantheon had dull, worn shades of grey and brown, showing how old it was.

After that, they made a quick stop at the Trevi Fountain. Johnny took a coin out of his pocket and threw it in.

"What did you wish for?" Daniel asked.

"I can't tell you." Johnny chirped, "I wish for someone to get all they want in life."

Daniel looked at Johnny, confused. "What? Why didn't you wish for something for yourself?"

Johnny smiled, "I have everything I need and more now."

"You're so cheesy," Daniel grinned, though Johnny knew he wasn't truly content with his life.

You see, Daniel has always wanted kids. Since the day we decided to date, he's always been on and on about kids.

They haven't really talked about having kids, yeah, sometimes the topic is brought up, but it's always glossed over.

Johnny loves children and would like to have one, but he is unsure if he would be a good father. His dad abandoned his mom before he was even born, and Sid is a conceited jerk, so he's never had a male role model in his life, and then they are also debating whether to use a surrogate or adopt. Right now, everything is simply overwhelming.

"You okay?" Daniel asked, his voice filled with concern.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Let's go meet your relatives."

They got on a train and made their way to Florence.

**

The train ride was interesting, to say the least, but they finally arrived in Florence and were getting closer to Daniel's extended family's house. Johnny wasn't going to lie, he was a bit nervous as it was his first time meeting them.

When they got to the entrance, I stopped dead in my tracks. Johnny knew Daniel talked about him a lot to them, but what if they think Johnny's weird and not good for him?

"You've been quiet since the train ride; are you sure everything is okay?" He asked.

"Uhh..."

"What's wrong?"

"I'm a bit nervous to meet your family," Johnny admitted.

"What? There's no need to worry; I've told them so much about you; it's like they've known you for your whole life."

Johnny shuddered. "That means you probably told them how we met." I said, putting air quotes around the word "met.".

He rubbed his neck. "Yeah, I have."

Johnny sighed "That's exactly why I'm nervous, they probably think I have anger issues or something."

Daniel frowned. "Of course they don't, if you did, I wouldn't be with you now."

Johnny forced a smile. "Yeah, you're right, let's just go."

Johnny took Daniel's hand, and they walked up the stairs to Daniel's relatives apartment. Daniel knocked on the door, and it was immediately opened. A bunch of small girls and boys ran up to him.

"Uncle Daniel is here," they yelled in unison.

'Uncle?' Johnny thought Daniel didn't have any siblings.

"They're my cousins, but they call me Uncle," Daniel replied, like he was reading Johnny's mind.

"Oh," Johnny murmured. "That makes sense."

"We've been waiting for you guys for so long, everyone is in the kitchen," said one of the little girls.

"Well, let's go then," Daniel giggled, excited.

The kids led them to the kitchen, where all the adults were sitting. They were speaking Italian, Johnny assumed, so he couldn't understand what they were saying. Johnny was praying that they weren't planning my murder.

"Hey, zie, zii, nonno e nonna." Daniel greeted them, Johnny assumed he was saying hi to them because he started the sentence with "Hey."

His aunties got up from their seats and gave Daniel a big hug.

"Sei cresciuto così tanto dall'ultima volta che ti ho visto" One of Daniel's aunts exclaimed excitedly as she pinched his cheeks and planted a wet kiss on one of them.

"Yeah, I know," he uttered.

"I assume this is your husband. That you were you talking about?" His uncle asked.

"Mhm" He exclaimed, "Everyone, meet Johnny."

It was silent for a few minutes, everyone was staring at Johnny while he awkwardly stood there feeling uncomfortable.

Another one of his aunts spoke up. "È molto bello, vero? Quanto è bravo a letto?" she smirked.

Daniel blushed profusely, his hands covering his face. "That's none of your business," he spluttered.

"What did she say?" Johnny whispered to him.

"She just said you were handsome," he whispered back, still blushing.

Johnny smiled, feeling satisfied. Of course, he was handsome, just look at him.

Johnny didn't know a lot of Italian, but he knew a few basic phrases like saying thank you and saying goodbye, so he thought it was a good idea to at least say thank you for the compliment.

"Grazie!" Johnny thanked them.

They laughed, hugging Johnny and giving him sloppy kisses on the cheek. Johnny giggled, remembering how nervous he was to meet Daniel's family. He was glad they made me feel welcomed.

**

They spent a few hours at their house, talking about how they met, our wedding, and things like that.

Johnny checked the time; it was around 8 p.m. "Should we go to a hotel?" Johnny asked Daniel.

"No! Niente albergo, dormirai qui stanotte!" His grandma practically yelled.

"No, it's ok." Daniel reassured her, "We can just go to a hotel."

"Non c'è motivo di litigare con tua nonna, accettalo e basta." His grandpa groaned, annoyed.

Daniel huffed "Grandma wants us to stay the night. Is that ok with you?"

"As long as you're there, I'm fine with anything."

He smiled. "Where are we sleeping?"

They had to sleep with the kids as there weren't enough rooms. It wasn't that bad, but Johnny thought they were going to get a private room, y'know, because they were on their honeymoon. Whatever, even if they did, they couldn't possibly do anything without anyone hearing us.

'Next time' I thought 'Definitely next time'

**

They said their goodbyes to Daniel's family the next day, which was oddly sentimental.

"You'll come meet us next time, right?"

"Of course," Daniel said. "My husband and I will." He smiled, making the kids explode with excitement.

They were making their way to the train station when Daniel nudged Johnny on the shoulder.

"That wasn't too bad, was it?"

"Yeah, I guess it wasn't." Johnny smiled.

"Ok, since we've done everything I want to do, what do you want to do?" Daniel asked.

Johnny thought for a second that, if I'm being honest, the only thing Johnny wanted was to be able to strip Daniel naked and make love to him, but he understood that he had to wait.

"Um..." he began, "Maybe we can chill out, y'know? Just walk around Rome and stuff."

Daniel beamed, "Yeah, of course."

Daniel wrapped his arm around Johnny's arm. They took another train to Rome and walked around, taking in the sights. They visited some more tourist attractions, like the Colosseum, St. Peter's Basilica, and the Vatican & Sistine Chapel.

The scenery was absolutely stunning, and Johnny felt extremely happy that they still had five days left before they had to leave.

Along the way, Johnny saw a man selling roses. Daniel was too immersed in everything to see him buy one.

"For you, sunshine," Johnny cooed, tucking a strand of hair from behind his ear and placing the rose on it.

He brought his hand up to feel the flower. He looked at Johnny and grinned.

He then turned around, searching for what? I don't know, Daniel came dangerously close to Johnny.

"I wonder how I can repay you," he purred in an extremely sultry voice.

Johnny started sweating, Johnny didn't know this was going to happen.

"Um, there is a restaurant nearby, and I'm kind of hungry. Wanna go?"

Daniel whined, "Fine."

He looked a bit sad, so Johnny said, "Don't get me wrong, I want to make love to you, but I'm starving."

That got him to smile. "You make everything sound so cheesy. Let's eat then."

They entered a pizzeria instead of the restaurant I wanted to go to. Daniel says that since we're in Italy, they have to try some fresh pizza. Johnny didn't complain, though it's fucking pizza.

They were immediately seated, as it wasn't that crowded.

"Hey, I'm Melanie, I'll be your waiter today. What can I get you?"

Johnny shrugged. "I'll get a pepperoni pizza."

Daniel rolled his eyes. "Can I have the mushroom, olive, onion, bell pepper, and pickled jalapeños pizza, please?"

"Yeah, of course." Melanie chirped, "I'll be right with you."

Daniel huffed "We're in Italy, the inventors of pizza, and you choose pepperoni?"

"What's wrong with that?" Johnny asked.

"Nothing's wrong; it's just a bit basic, don't you think?"

"I'll take a bite of yours," Johnny answered.

"I promise you'll like it!" He cheered.

A few minutes later, they got the pizzas. They dug into their pizza, and of course it was delicious. You could never go wrong with pepperoni. Daniel was eating his pizza too; it seemed like he enjoyed it. A bit of tomato sauce fell on his chin.

"Here, let me." Johnny picked up a napkin and wiped the sauce off his chin.

"Thank you, baby." He whispered affectionately, "Now eat my pizza." He held up a slice in front of Johnny.

Johnny sighed and took a bite. Johnny thought it would taste gross, but it was surprisingly nice. All the flavours came together perfectly.

Johnny nodded in approval. "It's actually pretty good."

Daniel laughed. "See, I told you."

They finished eating, and Melanie came back with the bill. Much to Daniel's protests, I paid.

"Give her a tip, she was nice," Daniel said. Johnny did, and we left the pizzeria.

They checked into the hotel. They arrived at their room and went in.

"You know you need to stop paying for everything. I know you're like rich and stuff now, but still," Daniel complained.

Johnny shoved Daniel up against the wall and passionately kissed his lips. Daniel was momentarily taken aback, then swiftly reciprocated by kissing Johnny and wrapping his arms around Johnny's neck. Johnny ran his fingers through Daniel's hair, gently tugging as he gasped, granting his tongue total entry into Daniel's mouth.

Daniel pushed me back a little. "We just ate a couple of minutes ago."

"Sunshine, I swear to God, I need you right now. I don't care," Daniel breathed out.

Daniel nodded and then drew Johnny in for a wet kiss. Their bodies were tightly pressed against the wall, breathing heavily as their lips met. Johnny could sense their intertwined breath and feel the pulse of their joint heartbeat as they fumbled to remove one another's clothing.

What happened next? I'll let you decide.
