The following day, Roderic escorted Kai to the academy’s armory—a vast hall filled with racks upon racks of weapons, each crafted with precision and care. The armory was a treasure trove of swords, spears, axes, and other implements of war, all waiting for the hands of a skilled warrior.
Kai’s eyes widened as he took in the array of weapons. He had never seen so many in one place, each blade gleaming under the light that streamed in through the high windows. The air was thick with the scent of oiled steel and leather, a heady reminder of the power that these weapons could unleash.
“This is where you will choose your weapon,” Roderic said, his voice calm and measured. “The weapon you select today will be your companion throughout your training and beyond. Choose wisely, for it will become an extension of your will.”
Kai nodded, feeling the weight of the decision before him. He moved slowly through the rows of weapons, his eyes scanning the various blades and hilts. He could feel the energy of the weapons, each one radiating a unique aura, as if calling out to him.
He paused in front of a rack that held a collection of large swords, similar to the one Roderic wielded. These swords were massive, their blades broad and heavy, yet they had a certain elegance about them, a sense of power tempered by grace.
One sword, in particular, caught Kai’s eye. It was slightly shorter than Roderic’s but just as wide, with a beautifully crafted hilt wrapped in dark leather. The blade was etched with intricate designs that seemed to tell a story of battles fought and victories won.
Kai reached out, his hand trembling slightly, and grasped the hilt. The moment his fingers closed around it, he felt a surge of energy, as if the sword itself recognized him as its rightful wielder. The weight of the sword was substantial, yet it felt natural in his grip, as if it had been made for him.
“This one,” Kai said quietly, turning to Roderic. “I choose this one.”
Roderic nodded approvingly. “A fine choice. That blade was forged by one of the greatest swordsmiths of our time. It’s a weapon that demands respect and discipline. You’ve chosen well.”
Kai felt a sense of pride and resolve wash over him as he held the sword. This would be the weapon that would carry him through his training, the weapon he would use to seek justice for his family. He was ready to begin.
