August 10th, 2006, in Rozer Academy, one of the two major Warrior Training Academies in Ticu. Rozer Academy trains young Warriors for about a year before being distributed into Warrior Squads. Cygil Rozer and his older brother Cyrus Rozer sit down with their grandfather and academy president, Ted Rozer, to discuss this year's applicants to the Academy.
“It’s about time for this year’s draft, Grandpa.“ says Cyrus.
*Cyrus Rozer, a 30-year-old Warrior with slick black hair and light brown eyes. Cyrus has been working for his grandpa as a teacher for seven years at Rozer Academy.*
“I have a good feeling about this year.” says Cygil.
*Cygil Rozer, a 27-year-old Warrior who also has slick black hair, but unlike his brother, Cygil has dark brown eyes. Cygil has only been a teacher for three years now as he came in to replace his father's retirement.*
“Very well, grab me the list of applications, Cygil.” says Ted, “Cyrus, how many students have decided to stay for year two?”
“Two, I believe.”
*Ted Rozer, a 73-year-old retired Warrior. Ted lost all his hair because it was burned off in a skirmish with a fire user. After retiring, Ted had the Academy built so that he could continue to support Ticu.*
“Here you go, grandpa.” Cygil hands over copies of the list to both Ted and Cyrus.
Ted gazes over the sheet of paper. “Ah, sixty-seven applicants this year, twelve more than last year.”
“Now then, shall we begin?”
The three men read through all 67 applications, and Cyrus and Cygil note down some students they want in their class. Since they are relatives of the owner, they get to pick out the students for their class, and the rest get funneled out to the other teachers.
“Since your class won the Rozer Academy tournament last year and you’ll only be picking six times this year, how about you start us off, Cyrus.”
“Ah, thanks, but no thanks. My little bro should go first. His class did get completely swept last year.” Cyrus boasts.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Since you’re just so kind, I’ll go first.” Cygil skims through his list.
“Ah, that was his name. First, I’ll go with Kareem Coleman; it says here that he’s taken down criminals who broke into his house. That's a pretty great feat for someone with zero formal training. Secondly, I’ll pick Zachary Nelson, a natural hothead with great raw strength.”
“Good picks, good picks.” says Cyrus, “The applicant I’ll choose first is Dakota Green, who states that he’s always willing to work and is very motivated to become an official Warrior. Next, I’ll go with Marcel Howard; his application and stats are similar to Dakota’s, although Marcel has the added benefit of being gifted with natural speed.”
“Marcel was on my list, too… nevertheless, my next picks have already been planned. I’ll go with the identical twins from Oakney, Kye and Kian Carter. These two have been through a lot already, losing everything at such a young age. Although they also are pretty lucky due to the fact they’ve been receiving training from Dean Clarke for about four years now.”
“Great choices from you both so far. Who’s next?” asks Ted.
“Hmm, I think I’ll go with Evie Silva.” says Cyrus, “She’s pretty smart, and I think she has potential. Secondly, I pick Darren Doyle. Darren has a slight learning disability and struggles with being distracted, just like you when we were in school. I’d like us to help him grow from that, just like you did.”
“I didn’t know you had a soft side, Cy.” jokes Cygil, “Anyways, I’ll go with Jackson Price and Amber Burns for my fifth and sixth class members. Just like the twins I just picked, Jackson has also been receiving training from Dean Clarke for about four years, plus he’s a smart kid. As for Amber, I chose her for two reasons. First, she’s the little sister of Jett Burns, the B-Rank Warrior and former student of Rozer Academy. Jett has an incredibly strong power called “Infiltrate”; I’ve heard she’s also awakened this power. The second reason is that she’s close friends with Zachary. Hopefully, if he ever goes overboard, she can stop him.”
“You aren’t playing around this year, huh? For my final picks, I’ll go with Austin Young and Alvin Young, who are two-thirds of a set of triplets. I had a hard decision picking just two, but I think I made the right choice. Austin is the strongest of the three, and Alvin is the smartest. I hate splitting them up, but that’s just how it’ll have to be.”
“Pretty cruel if you ask me.” jokes Cygil, “I’ll take Apollo Young then. He’s the most balanced of the three, and I believe being separated from his brothers will go a long way in his development. And for my final pick, I’ll go with Allen Villanueva. Allen doesn’t have much going for him, but he is incredibly built for his age, with muscles that rival some grown adults.”
“Alright, perfect.” says Ted, “For the final list, we have Kareem Coleman, Zachary Nelson, Kye Carter, Kian Carter, Jackson Price, Amber Burns, Allen Villanueva, and Apollo Young going to Cygil’s class. While Dakota Green, Marcel Howard, Evie Silva, Darren Doyle, Austin Young, Alvin Young, and two returning students will be in Cyrus’ class. I’ll split up the rest of the students and have the acceptance letters sent out so everyone is ready for the first day on the twentieth of August.”
“Yeah, sounds good to me.” replies Cyrus.
“Same here.” says Cygil.
“Great, meeting dismissed.”
Ten days later, the 62 selected students arrive at the prestigious Academy and eagerly wait as the door opens. Walking in, they find a huge common area on the first floor filled with couches, vending machines, and even a pool table. The group admires all of the expensive furniture until they are approached by Ted, Cygil, Cyrus, and the six other teachers.
“Welcome, first-year students! My name is Cyrus Rozer, and I'm a teacher here at the Academy.”
“And I’m Cygil Rozer, also a teacher here.”
“And my name is Ted Rozer, the owner of the Academy. Just so you know, the nine of us have high expectations and hope that all of you will grow into a Warrior that you can be proud of. With that being said, all sixty-two of you were hand-picked and separated into one of the eight classes.”
“As your teacher, I will put my all into teaching you students and treat you respectfully. I expect all of you to do the same, and I sincerely hope we all get along.” says Cygil.
“Also, towards the end of the year, all eight classes will head to head. Think of it as friendly competition.” explains Cyrus.
“Now, if there are no further questions, we will separate you into your respective classes.”
The six other teachers read off their students' names and headed into their classrooms, leaving the 14 students selected by Cygil and Cyrus.
“Dakota, Marcel, Evie, Darren, Austin, and Alvin, you are all with me.” says Cyrus.
“And Kareem, Zachary, Kye, Kian, Jackson, Amber, Apollo, and Allen, you’re with me.” says Cygil.
“I’m not with my brothers?!” asks Apollo, “What’s up with that!”
“It’s okay, Apollo.” says Alvin.
“Yeah, at least all three of us got into the school in the first place.” Austin adds.
“I guess so...”
“Why does our class only have six?” asks Evie.
“Oh, don’t worry; we aren't handicapped. Two students who decided to return from last year are also in our class.” Cyrus explains.
“These two second-year students, in particular, are already allowed to go on missions, so they’re probably out on one as we speak.” Ted adds, “Anyways, children, I must go now, but it was a pleasure to meet you all. Your teachers will take great care of you guys, and if you have more questions, don’t hesitate to ask them.” Ted leaves.
“Are there any more questions before we split?” asks Cyrus.
The kids shake their heads.
“Alright then, my six, come with me. It was nice meeting the rest of you. Congratulations again on making it to Rozer Academy!”
