Dark Moon: The Awakening Vol.1

Chapter 2: Getting Acquainted

Chapter 2: Getting Acquainted

Aug 16, 2024

The morning sun filtered through the tall windows of Decelis Academy, casting a golden hue over the campus. Sooha had spent the night reviewing her schedule and organizing her new dorm room, but the promise of a fresh day ahead filled her with a mix of nervous excitement.
As she walked through the bustling corridors on her way to her first class, she spotted Heli and the others waiting near the entrance. They had become familiar faces in her whirlwind of a first day, and Sooha found herself hoping that they might become friends.
“Morning, Sooha!” Heli greeted cheerfully, his bright smile lighting up his face. “How’s it going so far?”
“It’s going well,” Sooha replied, returning his smile. “I’m just trying to get used to everything.”
“No worries,” Jaan said, his voice calm and reassuring. “It’ll take some time, but you’ll get the hang of it. Want to join us for breakfast before classes start?”
Sooha hesitated for a moment but quickly decided that a friendly gesture was just what she needed. “Sure, I’d like that.”
The group led Sooha to the cafeteria, where an assortment of food was laid out. They made their way to a large table, and as they sat down, the conversation flowed naturally.
“So, what do you think of Decelis so far?” Shion asked, his playful demeanor making it easy to relax around him.
“It’s impressive,” Sooha admitted, looking around at the grandeur of the cafeteria. “But it’s also a bit overwhelming.”
“Yeah, it can be a lot to take in at first,” Jakah said, his eyes focused on his breakfast. “But once you get to know the place, it’ll start to feel like home.”
Noa, who had been quietly observing, added, “If you need any help with anything, just let us know. We’re around.”
Sooha nodded, grateful for their offer. “Thanks, I appreciate it.”
As they ate, Sooha learned more about her new acquaintances. Heli was enthusiastic about his role as the unofficial leader of their group, while Jaan had a knack for being a calming presence. Shion’s energetic personality was a stark contrast to Jakah’s more reserved and thoughtful nature. Noa, though quiet, had a calm demeanor that was oddly comforting.
“So, what do you like to do in your free time?” Jino asked, his curiosity evident.
“I love reading,” Sooha said, her eyes lighting up. “That’s actually one of the reasons I chose Decelis. I heard they have an amazing library.”
“Oh, the library is incredible,” Heli said. “We can show you around sometime. We’re always there, and it’s a great place to relax.”
“That would be great,” Sooha said, smiling. “I’d love that.”
As breakfast came to an end, the group headed to their first classes. Sooha found herself enjoying their company more and more. Their genuine friendliness made her feel welcome, and their support helped ease her anxiety about her new environment.
Later that afternoon, after her classes had concluded, Sooha was heading to the library when she spotted the group waiting for her.
“We thought we’d help you find your way,” Shion said with a grin. “It’s easy to get lost in this place if you’re not careful.”
“Thank you,” Sooha said, touched by their thoughtfulness. “I really appreciate it.”
As they walked together, the conversation continued effortlessly. Sooha found herself opening up about her past experiences and her love for books, while the boys shared stories about their time at Decelis.
When they finally reached the library, Sooha’s eyes widened at the sight of the vast collection of books. The walls were lined with shelves filled with volumes of every genre imaginable, and the space was bathed in a warm, inviting glow.
“This is amazing,” Sooha said, her voice filled with awe.
“We knew you’d like it,” Jakah said with a slight smile. “Feel free to explore. We’ll be around if you need us.”
As Sooha wandered through the aisles, she felt a sense of belonging she hadn’t experienced in a long time. The boys’ genuine attempts to befriend her and their shared interests made her feel like she was starting to find her place at Decelis.
By the end of the day, Sooha was exhausted but content. She had made new friends and found a space where she felt she could be herself. As she walked back to her dorm, she couldn’t help but feel hopeful about the future.
“Today was good,” Sooha said to herself, a smile tugging at her lips. “I think I’m going to like it here.”
With that, she entered her dorm room, ready to embrace whatever the next day had in store.
