Chapter 15 [END]

Chapter 15 [END]

Aug 16, 2024

"I want chocolate," Arthur mumbled out of the blue as we were watching TV, his head resting on my lap. I stopped running my fingers through his hair and was about to get up when he let out a noise of disapproval, almost like a whine.

"No, don't stop," he insisted, and I took a deep breath, knowing that Arthur would cry if I laughed at him.

"What do you want, Arthur? Chocolate or more 'petting'?" I asked, and he stared at me with furrowed brows, deep in thought.

"Both," he finally muttered, and I chuckled, shaking my head.

"Let me guess, our six-month-old baby wants chocolate, and you, you want affection?" I asked. He stared at me before nodding. I let out an amused laugh and bent down to peck his nose. My hand moved to his stomach, and I soothingly rubbed his belly.

"Hey, baby, is it true that you want chocolate, or is Daddy lying?" I cooed softly. I felt a kick and gasped, looking at Arthur.

"He just kicked! He's saying his Daddy isn’t a liar," I teased, and Arthur smiled.

"Told you!" he exclaimed, and I hummed.

"Blase," I called, and the bodyguard appeared within seconds.

"Yes, sir?" he asked.

"Can you go bring some chocolate?" I requested, resuming my gentle caresses through Arthur's hair.

He replied with a quick "Yes, sir," before rushing to the kitchen.

"Are you excited to find out the gender tomorrow?" I asked, and he smiled before nodding.

"Yeah, I am! I don’t mind whether it’s a girl or a boy. But we need to know so we can prepare for their arrival," Arthur said.

Initially, we were reluctant to know the gender. We wanted it to be a surprise, but both mine and Arthur's fathers insisted that being prepared was better.

"Alright then, eat your chocolate, and let’s go to bed," I said, and he bit his lip.

"I want pineapple now," he said shyly, and I chuckled, shaking my head.

"Alright, Daddy, let’s get you some pineapple," I cooed, and he blushed.

"I'm sorry for bothering you so much," Arthur whispered sadly, and I frowned.

"Oh, my sweet man, I don’t mind. I love taking care of you," I whispered, hugging him. His bump was in the way, but I knelt beside him with a smile. I lifted his shirt and gently rubbed my hand on his belly.

"Hi, baby, how are you doing in there? It's okay, just three more months, and you'll be able to see the world. I won’t lie, it’s not always a great place, but it’s our world, okay?  We shouldn’t hate it; instead, we should love what was gifted to us. Your Daddy and I will make sure you love this world, even while knowing its flaws. We’re eagerly awaiting your arrival, little one," I whispered before pressing a kiss on Arthur’s stomach. The baby kicked again, and I chuckled, looking up only to see Arthur’s teary eyes.

"What’s wrong? Are you hurt? Are you in pain?" I asked, concerned, and Arthur shook his head.

"I remember all the times I said I didn’t want a baby, a-and I can’t believe I ever said I didn’t want to carry our child," he whimpered, and I hugged him tightly. He buried his face in my neck, and I bit my lip to keep from smiling. Arthur continued to ramble about how our child should never know that he once hesitated to carry them. All I could do was rub his back and let him talk his heart out.

Oh, how much I love this man.

"Arthur?" I called softly, and he hummed in response.

"I love you," I whispered in his ear, and he sniffled.

"I love you too—if you give me my pineapple," he replied seriously, and that’s all it took for me to burst out laughing, making Arthur smile.

...

"Is something wrong?" I asked hesitantly as Claude stared at the screen in confusion.

"Huh?" he asked, and Arthur stiffened.

"Is something wrong with our baby?" Arthur asked, his voice trembling slightly. Claude shook his head.

"Nothing is wrong with your babies," he said, and I frowned.

"Babies?" I asked, confused, and he smiled.

"Two boys—there are two. The last time we checked, you were two months along, and it seems that one little one was hiding behind his brother," Claude explained. I stared at Arthur, who was now gazing down at his belly.

"I’m sorry, little one, I never talked to you! How are you, too? I swear I love you just as much as your brother! I didn’t mean to ignore you," Arthur exclaimed, rubbing his belly, and my heart melted at the sight of a fussing Arthur.

My man was carrying OUR babies.

"Are both of them healthy?" I asked, and Claude ruffled my hair affectionately.

"One is slightly smaller than the other, but he’s not that tiny! He’s receiving enough nutrients; it’s just that the older one is getting most of the food," he said reassuringly.

"There won’t be any complications, right?" Arthur asked, worry lacing his voice.

"No, there shouldn’t be. Just eat healthily and avoid stress, okay?" Claude advised, and Arthur nodded.

When we got home, Arthur immediately hugged me.

"You—you don’t have any problem with this, right?" Arthur asked, his voice full of concern, and I frowned.

"Of course not, Arthur! Why would I have any problem?" I asked, confused, and he sighed in relief.

"Thank you," he mumbled, nuzzling into my chest.

"It’s okay, Arthur."

Weeks passed, and Arthur’s belly grew even larger. I massaged his ankles, thighs, and back every night to help him sleep, and only allowed him to go out into the garden. Strangely enough, the puppies were incredibly calm around him. They would sniff his belly, and Arthur would talk to them and to our children. It seemed like the pups understood that Arthur was pregnant. Even though they’re three years old, Arthur and I still call them puppies instead of dogs. We consider them our babies, even though they’ve grown up.

Nine months had passed, and there were no signs of abnormalities or complications.

[If you're not interested in the details about male pregnancy, skip to the bolded word]

The body of a male who can carry a child is different. They still have all the typical male anatomy, but with an additional stretchable opening below the scrotum through which the baby is delivered. It’s similar to a woman’s reproductive system, except males don’t have a clitoris or vagina. This opening is a result of bodily development and mutation. The first male to give birth was created in a laboratory, and his child was naturally born with male anatomy and the same opening. Anyway, let’s not dwell on this too much.

"William," Arthur groaned, snapping me out of my thoughts. I quickly walked towards him, seeing the pain on his face.

"What’s wrong?" I asked, concerned, and he winced.

"I think I’m going into labor. The babies are trying to push their way out, but my water hasn’t broken yet—"

At that moment, he froze, standing stiffly, and I winced.

Ah, there it goes.

"Come on! It’s okay, we’ll reach the clinic in a minute," I said, helping him up.

"Claude!" I yelled, and the man, who was in the kitchen, rushed over. About ten days ago, Arthur passed the nine-month mark, and Claude advised us to stay at his house for safety. Simon and Claude had been taking great care of Arthur and me. Simon seemed really excited for the babies' arrival, and Arthur and I decided to make him and Kaiden the godfathers of one of our kids, while Lucifer and Jace would be the godfathers of the other.

Claude carried Arthur to his clinic and gently placed him on a bed.

"Alright, take a deep breath, and all you need to do is push, okay?" Claude instructed, and Arthur nodded. He looked at me and gripped my hand tightly.

"If I die, everything belongs to you," he whispered, and I rolled my eyes, bending down to peck his forehead.

"You dramatic man, your property is the last thing I care about," I teased, and Claude snorted.

"Focus here! He’s having a baby!" Claude reminded us sternly.

At that moment, Arthur groaned and squeezed my hand.

Oh boy, it’s okay, Arthur, I’m here.

...

The cries of two newborns filled the room as Claude held our sons in his arms. Arthur was panting and sweating heavily, while tears filled my eyes as I looked at the two tiny, blood-covered babies. They were absolutely beautiful.

"Here you go, have you thought of names?" Claude asked softly, as Simon looked on in awe. Claude proceeded to clean the babies while they continued to cry.

"Adrian Adam Carson," Arthur whispered, and I smiled.

"The younger one will be Iris Carson. Simon, would you do us the honor of naming him?" I asked, and Simon froze. He bit his lip, tears filling his eyes.

"Jess," he whispered, and I smiled.

"Jess Iris Carson."

I held my two angels in my arms, gazing down at their sleeping forms. Adam was the bigger one, and Iris was noticeably smaller. Claude assured me that they were both healthy and that nothing was amiss. Arthur had yet to open his eyes since he was still resting. Simon had carefully dressed them in clean, disinfected cloths, and I let him hold them. He looked so happy cradling the babies, and I knew that both Claude and Simon were going to be an integral part of our children's lives. I had known Simon for nine months now, and we often hung out together. He would visit Arthur, and Arthur was happy to let him bond with our babies.

Adam, the older and bigger one, had my gray eyes and Arthur's blonde hair, while Jess had Arthur's brown eyes and black hair. Neither Arthur nor I had black hair, but my dad did. The feel and texture of Jess's hair were just like my dad's—soft and curly. Thankfully, I took biology classes and understood how alleles work, explaining Iris's hair.

Lucifer, Winter, my dad, Kaiden, Jace, Papa (Arthur's dad), and Cassandra were on their way here.

Arthur let out a groan as his eyes slowly opened. When he saw me, his gaze immediately fixed on the two little ones in my arms, his eyes welling up with emotion.

"Would you like to hold them?" I asked, and Arthur nodded. He sat up in bed and, with shaky hands, took the two boys into his arms. They stirred, opened their tiny eyes to look at Arthur, and then closed them again.

"Hi, babies. I'm your daddy, the one who carried you and talked to you every single night. Do you remember me?" Arthur asked, and I chuckled.

"They won’t remember, Arthur," I said, and he laughed softly.

"I want to kiss them, but I know we shouldn’t touch and kiss newborns too much because they’re so fragile and susceptible to bacteria," Arthur said, and I hummed in agreement. He gently stroked their cheeks, and one of the babies opened his eyes, staring at Arthur with big gray eyes. Arthur smiled through his tears.

"Hey, Adam, you have your Papa’s eyes and your Dada’s hair," he said, and I grinned.

"Jess has your eyes," I added, and Arthur’s smile widened.

"Our two boys, Adam and Jess Carson," he cooed.

Just then, my entire family arrived, and they all stared at Arthur in awe.

Arthur looked at his dad and smiled. "Hi, Dad. Hi, Papa," he greeted both our fathers. He called his dad 'Dad' and mine 'Papa,' while I called my dad 'Dad' and his 'Papa.'

"You can hold your grandchildren if you’d like," Arthur offered, and they stared at him in shock.

"Children?" they asked, and I grinned.

"Surprise!" I said, and they were indeed surprised.

Arthur and I had wanted to keep it a secret.

Dad and Papa each took a baby in their arms, and Dad gently touched Iris's hair.

"He has my hair," he whispered, and I chuckled.

"Iris Jess Carson Grey," I said.

"And this one? He has your eyes," Papa remarked, and I smiled.

"Adam Adrian Carson."

Dad and Papa started cooing at the babies and reminded us of the 'no kissing the baby' rule.

"Can I hold them?" Jace squeaked, and I smiled.

"Of course you can, Jace," I exclaimed.

Winter walked over to me and smiled. "Hi, congratulations on your babies," he whispered shyly. When he bit his lip, I knew he was blushing, which made me chuckle.

"Thank you, Winter," I said.

"C-Can I talk to Arthur?" he asked, his eyes glancing at Lucifer, who was proudly holding his two nephews in his arms, and I smirked.

"Are you thinking about having a baby, Winter?" I teased, and he bit his lip again.

"Not now, but maybe when I’m 24, in another three years. I just want to talk to someone who knows what it feels like to carry a child," he said, and I patted his shoulder.

"No need to stress, yeah? Go talk to Arthur; he’ll be glad to help you. You know he’s fond of you now that his jealous phase has passed," I teased, and Winter chuckled.

Arthur saw how happy Lucifer was with Winter. Apparently, Arthur had told me that Lucifer had always been a quiet child. He had been reserved, and Arthur was the only one he really opened up to. But since he was 14 and met Winter, Lucifer had started to become more outgoing. Arthur had told me that Lucifer was labeled as a bad boy in school with no friends. Everyone thought he acted that way to appear cool, but the truth was that Lucifer struggled to make real friends. Seeing Winter so comfortable with Lucifer made Arthur like Winter even more.

The proof was Arthur currently holding Winter’s hand. Winter was kneeling next to Arthur’s bed, and Arthur was smiling, gently talking with him.

"Should I be jealous of them?" Lucifer asked, and I smiled, looking at him before shaking my head.

"Nah. Anyway, what’s your thought about having your own baby?" I asked, and Lucifer smiled.

"I definitely want one with my princess. When the time comes, I’ll be really happy," he said.

I looked around and saw my entire family smiling and cooing at the babies. Even Simon was here, chatting with my dad and friends.

I was heartbroken when the person I loved—Winter—loved someone else, but it turned out that God had other plans. I used to have only my dad and my two friends, but now, I have this huge family.

Thank you for everything I’ve been given, God.

Thank you.
