Dark Moon: The Awakening Vol.1

Chapter 5: Unraveling Mysteries Part 1

Chapter 5: Unraveling Mysteries Part 1

Aug 18, 2024

The following day, Sooha struggled to focus in class. The exhaustion from her nightmare and the lingering effects of her newfound strength made it difficult to concentrate. Her interactions with the boys felt different; their concern for her well-being seemed to amplify her own anxieties.

During lunch, Sooha joined Heli and the others in the cafeteria. They chatted casually, trying to lift her spirits.

“Feeling any better today?” Heli asked, sliding a tray of food towards her.

“Just a bit tired,” Sooha replied, forcing a smile. “But I’m managing.”

Jakah, ever perceptive, studied her closely. “You seem a bit off. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.”

“Thanks, Jakah,” Sooha said. She appreciated their concern but was determined not to let it show how troubled she was.

After lunch, Sooha found herself drawn to the library. The rows of books provided a welcome distraction from her restless thoughts. As she wandered the aisles, she searched for anything that might offer answers about her nightmares and the mysterious strength she had felt. Her fingers brushed over the spines of countless volumes, but nothing seemed to stand out.

Lost in thought, Sooha didn’t notice Heli approaching until he spoke. “Hey, Sooha. Mind if I join you?”

Sooha looked up, startled. “Oh, Heli. Sure, I’m just browsing.”

As they walked together, Sooha couldn’t help but notice how Heli’s presence made her feel more at ease. They talked about their favorite books and shared recommendations, but Sooha’s mind kept drifting back to her nightmares and the shadows.

Later that evening, Sooha decided to visit the school’s old observatory, a place she had heard was rarely used but offered a quiet refuge. She hoped the solitude would help her sort through her thoughts.

The observatory was a large, dimly lit room filled with old telescopes and star charts. Sooha approached one of the telescopes and peered through it, trying to focus on the stars. The familiar view of the night sky offered a sense of calm, but the memory of her nightmare still haunted her.

As she turned away from the telescope, she noticed something peculiar. On a dusty shelf, she found an old journal with a worn leather cover. Curiosity piqued, she opened it and began to read.

The journal appeared to belong to someone from many years ago, detailing strange occurrences and cryptic notes about shadows and supernatural beings. Some entries mentioned dreams similar to what Sooha had experienced. The more she read, the more she felt a connection between the journal’s contents and her own experiences.

“Is everything alright?” a voice asked suddenly, making Sooha jump. It was Jaan, who had followed her to the observatory after noticing her departure earlier.

“Oh, Jaan,” Sooha said, trying to hide the journal behind her back. “I didn’t expect to see you here.”

Jaan’s eyes fell on the journal. “What’s that?”

Sooha hesitated before showing him the book. “I found this old journal. It seems to have some entries about supernatural occurrences. I thought it might help me understand these nightmares I’ve been having.”

Jaan looked through the journal’s pages, his expression thoughtful. “This is interesting. Some of this aligns with things I’ve heard about. Maybe it could be connected to what you’re experiencing.”

Sooha nodded, feeling a glimmer of hope. “Do you think it could help me figure out what’s happening?”

“It’s possible,” Jaan replied. “But it might take some time to piece everything together. For now, just be careful. There’s more to this place than meets the eye.”

As they left the observatory, Sooha couldn’t shake the feeling that she was on the brink of uncovering something significant. The journal’s entries had sparked a new sense of determination within her.

Back in her dorm room that night, Sooha studied the journal’s contents, determined to find answers. The moonlight streaming through the window cast eerie shadows on the walls, but Sooha was resolute. She needed to understand her nightmares, her mysterious strength, and the connection to the shadows that seemed to haunt her.

With each page she turned, Sooha felt herself drawn deeper into the mystery. She knew that the answers she sought were intertwined with the secrets of Decelis Academy and her own hidden past.

As she closed the journal and prepared for bed, Sooha felt a renewed sense of purpose. She was no longer merely a transfer student; she was a part of something larger, something she was determined to unravel.
