"I have a proposal. What if I purchase a train ticket for you so you can stay with me? We can discuss the specifics when we meet face to face for the first time?"
" I don't know. What if you're a serial killer or something?! I watch a lot of documarties about women meeting a stranger on the internet.
"You amuse me! Even after two years of knowing me, you still make those silly remarks. It pains me when you refer to me as a stranger; I believed we were friends. Why do you have such a low opinion of me?""
I guess he's right
"Alright, I'll share my location with you and locate the nearest train station within walking distance."
Kaelynnee navigated to the icon in the app, marked the precise location, and shortly after, her online companion sent her the confirmation ticket and purchase receipt. After closing the tab, she searched for Mazon train station and started walking.
Oh, it's only 3.3 miles from here.
Arriving at the Mazon train station, she was surprised by its size. It took her a moment to consult the map and figure out her location. Eventually, she approached a clerk, presented the confirmation number and receipt, and received her ticket. Kaelynnee felt nervous, thinking it might be a scam, but she decided to follow through. She was amazed that her online friend had actually purchased a ticket for her, despite all the evidence.
The intercom announced, "The train to S city will be arriving shortly."
As she was about to board the train her phone was buzzing and as she looked down, it was her manager. She looked up at the train and hesitated to take another step.
Maybe my manager would consider giving me an advance payment. It might sound a bit absurd. What should I say when I pick up?
As she was about to walk away from boarding the train, a uniformed gentleman halted her movement. Politely, he inquired, "Ma'am, where are you headed? Aren't you planning to catch the train?"
She glanced at her ringing phone, indicating an incoming call, and then at the man in front of her with a sense of uncertainty. "I've reconsidered. I don't believe I want to board the train anymore. I'm unable to afford this journey. Could you please refund the ticket or do something about it?"
The man glanced at the ticket, puzzled. "Did you know you're a platinum gold member? Are you certain you want a refund for your ticket?"
What's a platinum gold member? Hell! I don't know know what a platinum is.
Giving her phone another glance, it went straight to voicemail and then shut down. Feeling lost and with no alternative, she boarded the train. To her surprise, a uniformed man guided her to a different, much more luxurious train with fancy cushioned seats. Nervous, she could feel her heart beating rapidly in her chest when suddenly someone approached her with a menu to select the items she desired.
"Oh, I apologize. I can't afford this. Please take the menu back," Kaelynnee says politely with a hint of embarrassment.
"Excuse me, there seems to be a misunderstanding. These items are exclusive to our platinum gold members. I'll return shortly to collect your card," the server clarified.
She found a socket available to charge her phone. Plugging it in, her phone powered up within minutes. Disregarding the notification, she eagerly launched the app Anonymously Chat and opened her conversation with her online friend in utter disbelief.
" What is this place? I never heard of such a membership where they just give people free food. What am I suppose to do? Should I leave?"
"Order to your heart's content. This platinum gold is just a few dollars. No need to worry about the cost."
" THANKS!"
" See you soon bun-bun"
Where does these nicknames even come from?
Kaelynnee scanned the menu with a variety of intriguing expressions. Her eyes widened at the sight of lobster in fine print. Having never tried it due to its high cost, she decided to order nearly everything on the menu and captured each dish in a photo to cherish the moment.
So, this is what he does when he send me the picture? Perhaps, I should send him something to let him know that I'm enjoying myself.'
She chose to send him the picture, and he responded with a smiley face.Shortly after slipping into a food coma, she peacefully drifted off to sleep. She slept through the entire journey, missing out on the scenic views. It had been such a long time since she had slept so well that she forgot all her worries for 19 hours.
"We have reached your destination. We are now in City S. Please ensure a safe departure from the train," the announcement was made over the intercom.
She promptly stood up and exited the train along with the other passengers. As she unplugged her charger, placed it in her bag, and held her phone, she found herself once again lost at a map, unsure of the exit location. After seeking assistance, she managed to navigate her way out of the bustling train station. Standing outside on the sidewalk, she gazed at her phone, texting her online friend repeatedly, yet to receive a response.
How come he's not responding to my messages?
She scrolled through their messages and noticed that he had shared his address. Entering it into her phone's GPS, she set off on foot, clutching her backpack tightly. Nervous about meeting her online friend in real life, she pondered whether he would match the personality she had imagined, considering the various facets he must possess to purchase her ticket online.
Arriving at some luxurious apartments, she was amazed by the most expensive ones she had ever seen. Taking the elevator to the 9th floor, she finally reached the door numbered 917. Her heart raced with excitement at the idea of meeting her online friend in person as she pressed the doorbell.
Maybe he didn't hear it. Maybe I didn't press the doorbell hard enough.
She repeatedly pressed the doorbell, feeling her heart race as she heard the door unlock from the inside. The door opened slowly, revealing a man with impeccable muscles and a six-pack. Annoyed, he asked, "Who's there?" Their eyes met, and his towel slipped off.
