Under the details written in the notebook, there was a picture with the flower that he was looking for, which helped him on his search
The boy spotted the flower, right near a few purple frogs, with spiky skin. The flower had the shape of the triangle on top, and the color orange, a type of flower which he saw the first time in his life.
He ripped one of many, straight from the green stem. While in his hand, it quickly turned into a pixelated form that dissolved inside his left forearm, startling and scaring him for a quick second. After it dissolved, he only felt a slight sting inside his skin, but then, the sting just disappeared. A red paint circled around the forearm that the flower dissolved into, forming itself all the way towards the middle of his bicep. On the surface of the skin, right in the middle, there was something written on its skin, just like a tattoo. It was a sentence, and a few numbers on it"
"Progression 050/000? What does that mean?"
Asked the boy, reading the words written inside his forearm, contemplating on it for a few seconds, then he went back to collecting the flower that he needed.
After taking another flower, really curious to see if it adds to the last one, it did the same thing as last time, adding to the “Progression” effects from his arm.
"Woah!"
Exclaimed the boy, filled with awe, widening his eyes, amazed by the mechanics of the “Progression effect”.
The red painting on his arm grew slowly but surely, towards his face where it stopped right when it arrived at his chin. It was like a shadow was dancing across his skin, coloring him in a colorful, bright-red color. The numbers and the word remained as well, in a 3D, blue colored concrete form.
The 3D word and the numbers started bothering him, by getting itchy, like a broken bone healing inside a gypsum.
Scratching the hard and yet, thin surface, he didn’t feel comfort, because the itchiness from his arm was only something in his head, so he just gave up and tried to cope with the discomfort from it.
"Aaah, I guess I'll just leave you here"
Sighted the boy, giving up with the tomfoolery.
The notebook started floating, right behind him, vibrating with clear and continuous sounds, and vibrating in movement, turning in a roll, and unturning a few times, in a slow movement.
“Wait, notebook, c’mere!”
Exclaimed the boy, jumping as high as he could, catching the notebook right before it would get to a height where he couldn’t catch it anymore.
At that moment, a realization came to his mind. If he would let the book out of his grasp, would it still float?
He did as he thought, and the book started floating again.
“Maybe that’s why I have this chain around my waist. And I thought it was only for character design”
Taking out black chain that looked like it was made out of a “glassy” material, the boy locked it to the edge down-right, edge of the notebook. While finishing the last security measures, making sure that the chain was closed into the belt support and the edge of the notebook, letting the chain be, for a few seconds, he searched for the pen, in hopes that he didn’t lose it.
But the pen was already in a place that was carved inside the wooden cover of the notebook, right under the “Starter” word.
Narrowing his eyes, thinking how did the pain get up there, inside the notebook, two meters in the air, a little bit over him, he extended his hand, taking out the metal pen, wanting to look at it for a quick second, trying to understand it.
Taking it out from its carved place, the boy accidentally dropped the pen, forgetting how heavy it was. Wanting to pick up the metal pen, without him doing anything, it rapidly flew inside its carved place, inside the wooden cover of the notebook.
Freezing in place for a quick second, widening his eyes, the boy changed his look at the pen from inside the wooden cover.
“Awesome!”
Whispered the boy, dumbfounded
Checking out the white notebook, to see what the sound was about, it automatically opened itself, in a page with the word “Quest” as the title, written in thick, fancy, black letters. But this time, the title “Word”, was cornered in a pale, yellow color.
Underneath the title, there was a new sentence, written in small letters, as well as an empty square, which found its place right near the sentence, in the same size as the letters in which the quest sentence was written in.
“Find the Hermi flower”
Quoting the sentence, the boy read the details of the Quest.
“The Hermi flower is an item located in the “Long Life forest”. It’s a small plant, with an open top, colored in purple, with four, flat, square-edges.
“Four flat square edges? This place is getting more and more confusing”
Monologues the boy, nodding his head sideways, while exhaling deeply.
Bewildered about the direction he had to go to search for the Hermi flower, a few seconds after, a half of a meter in width, pale-blue, glowing mist. appeared in front of him out of the thin air, leading him inside the depths of the forest.
“If the nature is showing me the path towards the flower and not in some kind of trap that would eliminate me, then this is really convenient”
Said the boy, nodding happily at the long, pale-blue, glowing path.
The path suddenly stopped. Looking around for the flower, he saw the plant stuck to a thin and long tree.
Seeing it in person, it was much more beautiful than it was drawn in the notebook. The flower had 3D, purple petals, in the shape of squares. A moment before gently getting it out from the tree, the boy looked at it one more time, with a slight smirk on his face, rotating it in a slow pace before it transformed into a many-pixelated wind, which fuzed into his left forearm.
Because he may need more of these plants in the future, he took a handful more, without knowing how much he needed them in the next quest.
At a clap, the notebook took out a vibrant and clear sound again. Extending his towards it, he saw something changed in it. It had a big red button on its cover.
“A button? What for?”
Asked the boy, puzzled, narrowing his eyes while taking the notebook in his own two hands, looking at it more carefully.
“Well, I hope I won’t get poisoned or drop a trap on myself by pressing it”
Pressing the button with the thumb from his left hand, while holding it in a steady position with the other four fingers of his left hand and his right hand, his left forearm started glowing with aura.
“Woooah, amazing!”
Exclaimed the boy with a silent whisper, while the inside of his eyes reflected the glowing pale-green mist, with small dots inside it, making it look like families of fireflies leaving for a new journey, a new life and a new adventure.
The pale-green mist that came out from the skin of his left forearm, now followed its path through the long trees, lighting up the dark spaces, where there wasn’t space for light to go in, making a calm and enchanting path of light inside the natural darkness.
Looking back at his left forearm, he saw that the numbers changed.
“Progression 000/001”
“Does this mean that I am evolving in some sort of way?”
The boy nodded in a sign of acceptance at his own words, while still looking at the number on his forearm.
He dropped himself down on the ground, letting the small amounts of dim light from the bright clear and sunny sky warm up his body in a few places.
Inhaling the crystal clear, fresh smell of the grass that still wasn’t dry from a previous rain, and the smell of pine leaves, the boy closed his eyes and exhaled deeply. In the background, the chirps of the various birds could be heard, singsonging with calming noises, which are echoed from distant parts.
Stopping his moment of relaxation, the notebook, covering half of his face in a shadow, made the same noise as before
“Ooh, another quest?!”
Asked the boy, raising his back from the warm ground, happily reaching for the floating notebook.
After taking the notebook in his two hands, it opened with the same wind-cutting motion, shifting between pages, it turned to a new page, unnoticed by him until now.
The page was titled “Achievements”, with the same ink and font, as the other titles from the notebook.
“Achievements?” This is new”
In the page, there was a pictogram of a pale-green cream inside a wooden bowl, which was equal with other two pictograms of the flowers that he picked, the "Hermi flower" and the "Sharp Petal" "
"The Sharp Petal flower looks exactly like the orange conned flower, so it should be that"
Monologued the boy.
Underneath the small pictograms, that filled the higher part of the page, there were details written about the cream
“The “Flower cream” is a special and natural healing cream that gives you three vitality points”
Cited the boy
The flower cream was a recipe that will help him in the future quests, and it can be made as many times as he wants, but only if he has the flowers shown in the recipe.
“Vitality? Is that something related to my health?”
Asked the boy, looking in another direction, thinking intensely about his own question, for a quick second.
Right underneath the flower cream recipe, there were countless numbers of gray-filled pictograms, equaling with two, three or even more pictograms.
