Chapter 8: That Darn Slime!

Staring down the many faces that were shoved into theirs once more, it was no surprise that there were new people. None of them were interesting to actually consider the thought to join with and also none of them gave them any food first!

Rude.

Do they think that this pile of Pixels wouldn’t want to eat something after waking up? Or were they too dissociated from the real world that the game is only that. ‘Can they stop poking me with the swords and arrows?’

Having enough with the ‘No Respect’ they deserve to have their weapons taken away forever! It would be very funny to eat the weapons right in front of them. ‘Oh so perfect! To eat the weapons and gain Skills and never see their ugly faces again! HA!’

Taking a quick look at the Skills to make sure they hadn’t read it wrong and put the idea to work. It was also helpful that the Coin they had was tasty, the other metals in the game could also be delicious. Although the thought of taking damage was worrying, the Skill didn’t really specify what they could eat and what Skill chance they had.

Trying it anyways!

Anything that can go wrong is that it doesn’t work or they break the System. Either one works! ‘Ooooh so fun!’

The closest item was a sword and it was lovely looking! Engravings of fire near the hilt and different coloured jewels on the hilt itself. The tip of the sword had a stone that looked special and the scent on the blade was oily. Seriously! Poking them with such an extravagant sword and not expecting it to get eaten? Darn near shame to give up such a nice offering!

Looking at the swell sword they yawned stretching themselves out like a Snake yawning and quickly grabbed a hold of the sword. It was too late to get a better grip on the sword as they started dragging it towards their Core. Through the process they grabbed the other pointy objects that were thrust towards them in a taunting manner and they devoured it when the weapons reached their Core. Sighing they returned to their natural spherical shape and quivered in a little yawn as they rested against the tree after such a big meal. Most of the Player’s had backed away with their prized weapons going back into their Inventory and a few running away as if they were gonna hunt them down.

A few stayed and watched what they would do next only to be disappointed that it was in fact Nothing.

They did absolutely nothing.

They kept their eyes partly open to see what was happening around them and also just trying to stay awake long enough to see what else was going on. A few had come up with their trinkets and offerings that wasn’t appealing in the slightest with their added clause. They decided that the hardest refusal was to Sleep.

Or eat them.

Now that’s a better idea!

‘Ah, it was a good idea... they’re just walking away now. Dust it all,’ they nestled to the tree trying to relax from the recent stress of having so many ugly faces shoved into theirs. They felt the energy drain the moment they seen that someone was walking towards them, someone stopped them and they walked away. They hoped that they won’t come back, knowing that was just wishful thinking.

They gave a lasting look at their surroundings, the gentle breeze through the trees, the once short grass was now taller, the once thin path was now wider and showed dirt. The walls to the town were made of wooden planks. The Players leaving the town vary, they’re not sure if it’s by level that they arrive by. If anything this could be the second town that the Player’s visit or it could be the fifth. Deciding that this was not worth the effort they turned to the rolling hills where there were a few structures that stood out. They were towers or rock structures, they figured that there was someone out there making all those and they were making markers. Trying to see past the hills was near impossible, if there was anything out there at all.

With the active town beside them the monsters in the area were not showing up as often anymore, they either moved or were slain in their Spawn point like they were. Well aside from being tired, they were glad that the Slime’s didn’t have to worry about their lives anymore than necessary. If they kept with their training they would be at a very high level by now.

Staying up any longer was proving to be difficult, they hoped that they won’t sleep for long again. It’s nice being in the present for the update of the world.

The world filled with smoke and getting the people in the building out was difficult. He knew it was stupid idea to just run in on his own and his lack of knowledge only proved it. Looking around they noticed an open window and he instructed the others to go to it. They quickly went to the window and started yelling. Draven made sure that they didn’t trample on each other in their haste.

The Water Drips down...” Draven continued to sing to hopefully calm the children. What it did was calm the adults down too as they sang along. Their collected singing was louder than the roaring flames that was starting to crackle against the wooden floors. The smoke starting to turn black from its light grey.

Waking up they looked around, ‘This guy has a nice voice when they sing, a little scratchy but that could be from the smoke. I wonder what happened to them and why I’m seeing these visions? Or are they visions?’

A young Red and Silver Slime was currently running around with Player’s behind it. The spotted them awake and alert and ran towards them and hid behind them, the Player’s stopped and retreated. ‘Word must have gone around that they can’t attack them or their weapons will get swallowed up. Hahaha!’

“S-scary...”

“It’s fine little one, they won’t get to close if they value their weapons. You are out early... or late well either way just stay with me and the Slime Warrior’s will come for you.” The dual coloured Slime only shivered and tried to bury itself in their side.

“I don’t like this, please take me away from here!”

“Easy now, you’re gonna pop me if you continue like that, your thorns are sharp you know.”

“I don’t want to be here! Huh?”

[STEALTH FOOT: User is No longer Seen when Skill is Active.]

[DETONATE: A Last Resort Skill that will cause the User to Expand and Explode. Defeats the Enemy.]

[FORTUNATE: Fortune Shines down on the User Increasing the User’s Luck in gaining Extra Rewards after Defeating an Enemy.]

[THORN ARMOUR: A Skill to Harm the Enemy upon Attack. Deals 20 Damage.]

‘That little one had so many Skills it could use, why wouldn’t it? Was it too softhearted? Well, they’re safe now, where ever they are.’ They looked at the Players walking past and noticed that they weren’t coming by as often. It seems they got the message that they were ‘Untameable’ for a reason. Settling against the tree they watched the Players pass by, it seems lights were strung up along the dirt path.

They noticed someone by the entrance now, they were wearing armour and what looked like a crest of some kind. That must be the Guards that stand at the Gates. The lights flickered on in a warm glow and the Players started retreating back to town or going out further into the unknown.

A Player walked out with something in its hand and walked over to them, “Hey, Sleepy Head. Finally up for some Dinner?”

‘Weirdo,’ the Player placed a plate down and went back to the town. Looking at the retreating form they were dressed as a Knight with their blue cape fluttering behind them. Their head was fluffy looking and yellow like the sun through the clouds near the end of the day. Either that or just yellow and the lights were tricking them. ‘Weirdo.’

The plate was decorated in blue vines and some sort of brown loaf, taking a small bite they decided it was safe enough to eat and finished the whole thing.

The plate itself was also delicious.

Settling back down they started to doze the sounds of the people in town were gentle background noise and the squishing was a thing of safety. The little ones were being taken to Slime Hope and the whispered greetings and good byes were by the Slime Warriors that were escorting those little Slime's.

They tried to do something different but they were met with an Error message. They figured it was worth a try to Save in a different Save Slot, ‘My Saves are only limited to just this one, no going back to try again. If I die would it save that dead or would it just be over?’

‘Can’t get any new information about the works of the Game it seems, maybe one day I’ll get the answers I’m looking for.’

They just knew that Quest will never get completed. ‘The Game System doesn’t know who they are dealing with. As if I’ll just let anyone Tame me.’

Off in the distance they heard Howling. It started out as just one voice but then many joined along.

“Damn Wolvoxus are getting closer, we’ll need to take care of it sooner or later,” the Guardsmen said as they looked out from the Guard Post.

“We could always put up a bulletin for the Guilds-men to take. They can handle a lot when there’s a reward involved.”

“What do you say we add a bit of fun to it? Make them Tame that Slime over there before they take out the Wolvoxur.”

“Good idea! Those Wolvoxus won’t get too close to town but they get close enough for the weaker of us to stay in town. If we get rid of that eyesore over there two Birbus with one Stone!”

“Planning on dragging me into a useless Quests?” They muttered and tried to go back to sleep.

“Did you hear someone talking out there?”

“Yeah, don’t see anyone though. Hey! Who’s out there!?” The sudden yell jolted them awake, a quick glare in the Guards direction they closed their eyes again to try and sleep.

“Must have been nothing? That Slime is funny though, almost looked like they were gonna attack us for talking so loudly, haha!” The Guardsman quiet down after a few more laughs and conversations of the day.
