Morning chaos awaited me without knowing, but I was standing in my kitchen sipping coffè without a care.
Meanwhile, a storm was brewing in the office. Surprisingly, the Director was less calm than I had known yesterday.
"What do you mean you lost the contract with the JK?" the director director shouted at the secretaries.
They all stood immobile without saying a word, making him as angry as a beast.
"Go find it Immediately!" he said, frowning. All that gave him a headache, and frustration grew. "MOVE, DON'T JUST STAND THERE." All the secretaries started to run, tear, and throw out the entire office without a clue when Maria had just entered her office.
When she arrived, she found the door to the Director'sDirector's office open and the study in chaos. "What happened here?" she asked herself.
She got in and started cleaning and folding all the documents back in order; one by one, everything started to fall into its rightful place.
After half an hour, the DirectorDirector returned to his office and noticed Maria's bag on her desk, but she was not there. "Is she also non-working? She seemed to be diligent, damn incompetents," he said while entering his study angrily.
Once inside, he freezes up, seeing his study all tidied up and the documents perfectly ordered on his desk.
"Oh, common, come here, damn paper," said Maria from under his desk.
"YES! The last one," she said, happy, and jumped up, bumping her head under the desk.
"Aaah, it hurts," she said, violently stroking her head when she suddenly saw the Director looking at her.
Maria was a tiny woman with short dark blonde hair, big gray eyes, and a hazel accent in the superior part of her pupils. Her gaze was different; you could see she was trustworthy and had nothing to hide.
"What are you doing?" he asked, looking at her, caressing her head. Her hair was messy, and she tried to put everything back in order quickly.
"Director, you're back!" said Maria with a smile. "I organized your office a bit; it was a little chaos when I came in," she continued, showing the pile of documents on his desk.
After seeing everything packed up so unitedly, he instantly regretted thinking she was also not working correctly. He sat down in his chair and reviewed the documents. Everything was perfect; nothing was missing or put in the wrong field.
"Good Job," he said, taking a breath while throwing himself backward onto the back of his chair.
He started to frown and stroke his forehead again. He was usually getting migraine out of frustration.
"Are you alright?" Maria asked out of concern, but he stood there without a word to signal her to go out.
Once out, she sat in her chair and breathed for a second. Her head was still itching from the bump she had taken earlier.
"Does he have migraine?" she asked herself. Then, she took her wallet and went down to buy some meds.
"This woman does really work her butt off," said the director director meanwhile searching through some docs. His migraine accented like hell; he opened his drawer and took the painkiller box. But it was empty.
It was shot right into the garbage. Fortunately, everything was done; only the JK was missing, and that one was urgent. The phone started to ring. It was Louise.
"Did you find it?" asked the Director. We're sorry, sir, the clod seems to malfunction." What the heck was that about? Without asking more or giving her space to speak, he hung up, exited his office, and noticed Maria was gone. Where was she? He thought, seeing all her stuff still there in the bathroom or something.
Down on the second floor, the IT programmers were in chaos. They knew the Director would come down at any moment and were sure a fight would have started at any point. They were right. In just a few minutes, the Director appeared.
Maria went back when the whole building was on fire. Only the Director was on fire; the others were roasting slowly.
Louise saw Maria and took her right to the director to persuade him to calm down and take a break. Someone was definitely losing his job.
"Wow the hell do you manage this place?" shouted the Director at the technicians.
"That's a software problem, sir. We need time to solve it," shouted the head technician. He was a strong man by character, and the Director did not scare him a bit.
Louis pulled me aside, and as I approached the Director, he accidentally waved his hands and hit me in the forehead, causing me to fall onto my butt. He didn't realize I was standing behind him.
"That hurt a lot. I tried to hold back my tears while the Director and technician panicked.
"Are you alright?" the Director knelt to ensure I was not hurt.
I tried to keep it together, but a tear escaped from my eyes as I bit my lips. It really hurt, especially my forehead."
I immediately said, "I'm fine," but he was not satisfied with my response. He helped me stand up and escorted me back to the ninth floor while everyone looked in disbelief.
I found myself lying on my boss's couch and in his office with a pack of ice on my red forehead. I was standing there watching the ceiling of the room increase. The Director sat down next to me, and raising the ice, he caressed my forehead with his long fingers. That did not help, at least. All the places he touched were burning as if he had put on hot chili.
"It'll bump up," said him, concerned.
"I-It's fine," I tried to say, remaining as calm as possible, but who was I joking with? He was hot AF. I found myself attracted to him; he was utterly different from Ioan. In fact, I liked Ioan because he was honest, and I had never looked at his exterior aspect, but now, seeing the Director, I guess Ioan was not exactly my type.
The Director returned the ice pack on my forehead, and his face came nearer mine. "Don't make me angry," he said, then got up, returned to his desk, and continued his job.
I felt burning both inside and outside. I tried to keep my breath so as not to make any noise. Little did I know that even the Director has his own point of view.
Meanwhile, the director was stiff as his desk, and the image of Maria under his body on the sofa was kindly turned on the side he thought it did not have.
In fact, Maria was his past acquaintance; she helped while working in another company as a secretary. Director K had his eyes on that secretary for quite some time.
After discovering that her boyfriend was cheating, Maria was offered a job at B-Corp, the company of her dreams. However, she was surprised to be hired as the secretary for the workaholic director, Kyle. The only hope remains that they will understand each other over time and eventually learn to communicate. Or will there be more?
