Much to the Eileen’s annoyance, they covered her shed and locked it completely without giving her the keys. She was told that her healer duties were suspended while the crescent blue pack was here, making her temper rise even more than usual.
Not only were they getting into bed with an animal like her brother, they were also getting in the way of her work, she thought with an exasperating sigh.
She watched the dreaded scene through a window as they slammed the large door shut, locking it up using chains and a heavy lock. It was like she was keeping weapons in there or something.
Luckily her herb garden was outside and considering that they didn't know about it, they couldn't lock that up or keep it away from her. She would make do with them for now and find some other spot to keep performing her experiments. This extra time could be used to make more of her candles, something even her tyrant of a fiancé allowed her to decorate the main house with.
A sharp tug on her hair forced her eyes back to the full length mirror in front of her. Maids flanked her from all sides, working on her like she was mannequin. They were buffing her nails, painting her face with makeup, pulling on her hair and styling it in curly waves. She was wearing a silky sheer nightgown, the one she had slept in before it was removed and the corset was brought forward.
Great.
The corset was tight enough to constrict her breathing and her ribs ached when two maids pulled on its strings and stretched it to its furthest limit. She wanted to slap their hands away but her fiancé was watching her every move like a hawk, his frosty gaze roaming her body as he inspected her like she was a piece of furniture.
The head maid, who was the one barking directions and murdering her hair, would consult with him every now and then. They put a skin tight red dress on her, which hugged all her curves like a second skin.
She cut a striking figure in the mirror, but it gave her no sense of joy or satisfaction. She felt like a doll being dressed up to be presented at an auction and she felt dread over the prospect of being shown off like she was some prize.
Given the look on her fiancés face, he was planning to do just that in front of the crescent blue pack.
God, she hated them already. She wondered fleetingly what their Alpha would be like- though if he was working with her brother then he must be like her fiancé.
The maids were finally done dressing her and after curtsying to her fiancé, they left the room quietly. The air became suffocating as the two of them were left alone in his bedroom, or as he reminded her wryly, their bedroom. At least until the other pack was here. As if she wasn't dreading their arrival already. Her things had already been moved in- considering how sparse they were, it didn't take long.
She caught the whiff of two kinds of flowery perfume- presumably of the two women she saw leaving his room last night who were draped all over him at the breakfast table this morning- ,on her fiancé when he stepped closer to her and stood behind her in front of the mirror. His massive body dwarfed her and she was reminded of their difference in power, especially in physical terms.
He placed his hand on her nape and forced her to meet his eyes in the mirror, tightening his grip when she tried to look elsewhere. They gleamed with mischief as he gently cradled her neck and pressed it to one side, exposing the side of her throat. He placed his lips on her neck, kissing her softly before he bit into it sharply.
His eyes were still on hers in the mirror and he practically dared her to make a sound. Besides a sharp intake of breath, she managed to not give him the satisfaction of a reaction. He pulled back then, seemingly bored, and inspected his mark on her neck.
She felt sickened by the realisation that he must have made that mark just to show off to the other pack, and her fears were confirmed when he ordered her to keep her hair on the side so the mark could be visible.
Reading her thoughts, he gave her a sardonic smile and winked at her in the mirror before he whirled her around and offered her his arm like a caring gentleman. Her nausea grew but she slid her arm again this and steeled herself to head outside.
To meet the pack they considered an enemy.
She wondered fleetingly just how long all their facades would hold up.
