Alpha Felix had always considered himself an expert in reading people and anticipating situations. It was a rare scenario when that skill escaped him and a situation slipped out of his control.
Like the one playing out in front of his very eyes.
The Alpha Nathaniel was watching his future Luna as if possessed, his eyes glazed over in utter mesmerisation. The man could barely move and stood hypnotised in front of her before he caught himself and quickly schooled his features. He grabbed Eileen's hand and kissed it softly, his lips lingering for longer than necessary.
Eileen was likewise confused about his abrupt shift in behaviour from coldly polite to almost erratic.
This annoyed Felix.
She was too damn smart for her own good. Even if the Alpha had become infatuated with her on sight, he didn't want her picking up on it and getting stupid ideas in her head.
He had been initially concerned about the Alpha of the Crescent Blue pack being unattached and quite famous for not having chosen a Luna, but he hadn't anticipated that he might become interested in his future bride.
A wave of fury rose in his blood and he wrapped one hand around his fiancées waist and pulled her against him. He kissed her almost aggressively, while she unsuccessfully tried to struggle against his chest to push him away. He tightened his hold and he felt her awkwardness surge at the display he was putting forth in front of the Alpha who she was meeting for the first time.
He finally allowed her some relief as he pulled away from her and stared square into Nathaniel's eyes to gauge his reaction. To give him credit, he kept his expression neutral.
Eileen's face was red; her cheeks flushed as her eyes flashed with a murderous expression. She already hated being put on the spotlight, and displays like these made her so uncomfortable that she felt like crawling out of her own skin.
This behaviour was only going to get worse by the looks of it and the more she hated it, the more he'd feed on her hatred and up his antics until they became intolerable.
Alpha Nathaniel was politer than she had expected, and she struggled to face him after the show her fiancé just put on. He smiled at her softly, almost reassuringly and the expression on his face surprised her. Before she could smile back in gratitude though, her fiancé gave a wolffish grin and exclaimed,
'Isn't my wife beautiful?'
The alpha smiled in agreement.
'Yes she is'
Felix felt smug and told him with his eyes, shes my prize. The alpha met his eye, not backing down in the challenge. A guard entered the room with a knock and announced that the luncheon had been served. They filed out of the room, the alpha ushered the couple to leave first. Before he followed behind them he thought, future wife, not wife. I wouldn't be so smug if i were you.
