I had never once believed there was a single thing wrong with the life I led. How could I ever want to change anything about my life? I have a job I enjoy, amazing friends who always look out for me, and my fiance and soon-to-be wife Penelope. The very woman who made every day of my life into a dream come true, and would never let me forget how lucky I was to have her. her very presence never ceased to put my heart at ease. Sure my life may be a simple one, but I have never wanted to be rich or famous, just happy. I may be a simple man with a simple life but for me, it truly is a perfect life.
As a groom-to-be, I had been immersed in the endless whirlwind of wedding preparations for months. But now everything was finally perfect, my suit had been carefully tailored, I had personally coordinated everything with the vendors, and I had even practiced my vows the night before until my throat was sore with overuse. Until finally, all my preparations were in place and the greatest moment of my life was about to begin. An electric blend of excitement and nerves flowed into my every action and thought. It felt as if lightning and heat were building up inside of me. All my eager anticipation for the most joyous occasion of my life, was finally about to pay off.
My heart danced violently in my chest as I watched in awe as my darling bride strolled wondrously down the aisle, in a flowing gown that seemed to glint in the light like melting snow on a cold winter morning. As she looked at me with a radiant smile her emerald eyes sparkling with love and joy, she exuded elegance and grace. She looked every part like the angelic woman I knew her to be. Our eyes locked as she joined me at the altar surrounded by all our family and loved ones.
her soft hands clasped my hands as I clasped hers. For a moment the entire world seemed to go silent as I felt a ringing in the back of my head slowly growing louder and louder until -
"I do"
My fiancé—no, my wife's words pulled me from my daze and back to the present.
"Do you Vincent promise to take Penelope to love, to honor, and to cherish, for better or worse? For richer or for poorer? in sickness and in Health?
Pastor John, a dear friend of mine, his question was the easiest I had ever been asked so I answered clearly and without any doubt.
"I do."
Immediately as the words that should have led me into the greatest moments of my life began to leave my lips, it was already too late. Hope and excitement turned to crushing despair in my chest as everything I had ever wanted was suddenly taken from me.
<Would You Like to Play A Game>
The sudden appearance of a glitched semi-translucent game screen, reminiscent of the video games I'd played long before, stole the words meant for my wife and with them seemed to seal my fate.
Some returners go back in time as a way to escape from a terrible future, but not Vincent. Vincent has a perfectly ordinary life with the perfect Fiance, or at least he did. Right before the most important moment of his life, Vincent was stolen from the life he loved and sent back in time to his first days of elementary school. Can he achieve his goal of returning to his original future by repeating his past or will the butterfly effect and his flawed memory lead him to an entirely new future?
