The next morning came with everyone in the main house buzzing in anticipation of the grand breakfast banquet.
Apparently, word had gotten out about how handsome the alpha of the crescent blue was and all the women of the pack had donned their most elaborate gowns just fro this breakfast. The healer stood near a corner while watching the chaos of the unnecessarily fancy preparations play out, with no such interest in any of it.
She was relieved that the previous night had passed without incident and her fiancé hadn’t tried to coerce her into bed with him. Luckily he was two occupied by the two women who were all over him yesterday- apparently they’re his flavours for the week.
She watched the flame flicker on the special herb candle she had made recently, this one in particular had a lavender and rosemary infusion. She took a deep inhale to savour the scent and smiled- a secret, yet genuine smile.
Alpha Nathaniel, who had been watching her from the side became even more enthralled with her once he saw that rare smile. He moved closer to her, determined to unravel the mystery about why she hadn’t picked up on their mating bond, but paused when he noticed her stiffening upon his approach. He stood beside her and noticed that her smile had dropped and she appeared almost annoyed. He glanced at the candle instead, ‘it’s quite lovely’
She turned to him, apparently surprised.
‘Pardon?’
‘The candle i mean. The fragrance is lovely.’ He sniffed the air around them. ‘Lavender, is it? And something else-‘
‘Rosemary’ she replied
He smiled at that. ‘That’s it! I just couldn’t put my finger on it.’ With a finger on his chin he made a thinking gesture.
She laughed out loud, the sound absolutely lovely as it reached his ears, and he stared at her again. ‘These candles are quite rare to get. Where did you find them?’
‘I made them, actually’ her face beamed with pride.
He looked surprised at that, ‘how did you make these by yourself?’
She chuckled softly and told him the story behind them. He listened with keen interest, genuinely curious about her work and she felt exhilarated being able to tell someone.
So much so that she hadn’t noticed her fiancé standing behind them, who was watching their interaction with a furious gaze.
She stepped away from Nathaniel as soon as her fiancé made his way towards them and announced his presence with a booming, ‘Good morning!’
He had a cheeky grin on his face which made a chill creep down her spine as he slid in next to her and grabbed her elbow in a painful grip which made her wince.
‘I was just telling him about the candle’, she insisted while keeping her voice neutral.
Her fiancés smile faded and morphed into a stony look.
He looked at the alpha, ‘You do seem quite interested in my future wife, don’t you? Why don’t you take a seat and I’ll tell you all about her, then?’
Her stomach fell at that, bile rising in her throat as she realised that he means what he said, even if the details of her past would sully his reputation as she was his future wife. She tried to calm him and pulled him towards the breakfast hall, insisting that they shouldn’t keep the other guests waiting
but his decision seemed to be set in stone.
Her fiancé led the Alpha towards the couch and handed him a drink, and began revealing her past, while all she could do was listen in despair.
Alpha Nathaniel has spent his entire life putting his duty to his pack, the Crescent Blue, above all else. Until he meets the future Luna of the Cerallio pack- a pack with whom he is currently negotiating it. A forbidden attraction takes root between them and he realises how far he is willing to go to obtain her. Is all fair in love, even war?
Power means everything to the Cerallio pack. Words like these are like a death sentence to Eileen, who despite being the Alpha’s fiancé, is doomed by her former slave status and her ultimate weakness- not having a wolf of her own. Her life is at a standstill until she meets Alpha Nathaniel- who claims to be her mate! Will the two be able to overcome this fatal attraction or will their desires overtake them and lead them to their downfall?
