When I woke up, it was already dark outside. I accidentally fell asleep on my boss's sofa in his office and spent all afternoon sleeping instead of working.
The office was shrouded in darkness, with only the faint glow of a streetlight casting eerie shadows on the wall above me. The occasional car light added to the surreal scene. As I stirred, I realized I was not under a blanket but a jacket.
I got up and sat down. I touched my forehead, and it hurt. There was, for sure, a bump.
The director was working with headphones on at the desk in front of the window, tapping furiously.
A yawn came up furiously and got the attention of the director, Kyle.
"You woke up," he said, rising from his chair and approaching me. He knelt before me, gently moved my hair, and tucked it behind my ear with his long fingers.
"Ah.. I'm sorry," I said, embarrassed. His touch was way too seductive, and looking at him under this soft light in the middle of the night was breathtaking.
"Look at this bump," they said, looking at me with sweet eyes. I gulped as I regained my breath.
"It's late, you should have woken me up," I said, changing the conversation.
"I thought about taking you to the hospital," he said, "but instead I called a doctor. He said you're under stress and fatigue, so I let you sleep," he continued while getting up and stretching his back.
"Shall we go?" he said, watching the clock on his wrist. I stood up and took my things. In just a few minutes, I was in front of his car.
"Jump in, I'll take you home," he said, opening the car door and inviting me in.
I got into my seat without saying a word, and he closed the door behind me. For some unknown reason, I got trepidatious; it was something exciting.
He walked around the car and got into the driver's seat. As he started to put on his seatbelt, he noticed that I was standing, unmoving, and gazing in front of me. He sprinted closer to me, our breathing in unison, and grabbed my belt, buckling it on me.
Our faces were just inches apart. I could sense his coffee breath on me; it was so hot. He looked at me unsettlingly, like a predator stalking its prey.
I feel my own heart pumping. I've never felt something like that. He then cleared his voice and got back in his seat.
I didn't even realize the time was passing, but when I turned around, I found myself standing in front of my house, with the director escorting me.
I grabbed the keys and opened the door, only to find that water was slowly starting to flood the apartment, soaking our shoes. Despite all the taps being closed, water flowed from the walls, indicating a pipe breakage.
We spent an hour calling people to secure the fallout, only to discover that my apartment was uninhabitable. At that point, I was on the street with no money and no place to stay.
I was on the verge of crying.
"Take your things youre staying at my place," said the director, sighing.
Speechless, I tried to refuse, but it was impossible. So, that was another time I blacked out until I got to my boss's house as a guest.
Isn't life just having a problem with me, or what?
Did I do something terrible to a king in my past life? If so, why was all that happening to me?
"This way," said the director, taking my luggage outside. All my things were inside two suitcases. He was bewitched by the small amount of stuff in my possession but said nothing.
I fretted about getting out and into the luxurious building before me. We arrived at the top floor, and I was fully immersed in a big apartment with a view of the mountains, which was so breathtaking that I could not speak.
Once inside, the director started undoing his tie and jacket and throwing them on the sofa.
"This way," he said, telling me to follow him inside a long corridor. The second door on the left is the guest room; you can stay there.
"ah, yes sir, thank you," I said, watching the big bedroom.
"That there is your personal bathroom, is that alright?" His slightly unbuttoned shirt and undone hair gave him an aura not many people have seen.
"Yes, thank you," I said quietly. "I'm sorry for bothering you." At that sentence, his hand moved and petted my head. "Everyone has a bad day," he said, leaving and closing the door.
I was relieved, conformed. Director Kile was an incredible person.
It was already Friday, two days later, and I was still at the director's house. Somehow, I've seen many aspects of this person.
Tall, slender, and somehow built up, a blessing for the eyes.
" Here, the files are done." I got up and went to the sofa. The director was working when I stepped on a pencil, and the pain made me lose my balance.
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself on top of the director on the sofa. My hand was right on his chest, a way too soft chest for a man.
I was standing there confused, unbothered to get down from his lap.
His hands moved fast, put them on my shoulders, and, with a bit of force, got me on my back onto the sofa. At this point, he was the one on top.
"What, that a move or what?" asked, looking at me and blushing up.
"just an incident, I'm sorry," I said while looking at his chest.
"Are you disappointed with what you touched?" asked again with a crumble on the forehead. I bit my lips, and I was unsure of what to ask. He was not very masculine, but that is what I felt was not a pectoral but a woman's breast.
He was standing there anxious. Was it something he would take hidden?
I bit my lip again, but I was determined to speak for myself, and of course, I could take in any secret he was hiding.
"Director Kyle," I said, " Are you a woman?" His eyes widened when he heard my words. He had chosen to hide it from the last years, but she was not discovered for just one mistake.
Director Kyle, in fact, was "Director Kylee," the third daughter of the CEO. She was hidden for many years to unsettle the business partners and reestablish the company's proper order because of embezzlement.
"What if I am a woman?" she said, putting some pressure with her body into mine; that was turning me on rather than scaring me.
"You're hiding your gender; I will keep quiet." Hearing me out, she just kept some distance. "Why? " she asked.
"I admire the director, i would no care if men or woman!" that answer made the director remember why she was impressed by Maria during her first job as a Woman director and conflicts because of her gender. Maria was the one who stood up for her. She and only her.
After discovering that her boyfriend was cheating, Maria was offered a job at B-Corp, the company of her dreams. However, she was surprised to be hired as the secretary for the workaholic director, Kyle. The only hope remains that they will understand each other over time and eventually learn to communicate. Or will there be more?
