Chapter 4.
¿Have you seen something…?
Not even two days had passed since the incident when the police finally arrived at the door of my grandfather Yurik's house and began questioning the old man and practically intimidating him to get information that he really did not have, he was getting upset and suffering from the tension, in addition, he said it to the four winds: in this house there only live two very correct men who advocate for the truth, they cannot come and slander us for a crime that we have not witnessed, an event that occurred in the early morning when we were all asleep, ¿how do you expect to accuse us in our house of being accomplices of those criminal trash? ¿Why do you do your job well and take charge of looking for them instead of accusing innocent people?
The officer had one hand on his waist near the gun and was looking at the grandfather, searching as if he were debating in his mind whether to do it or not to do it… that terrified me, and then I intervened and said: Grandpa, don't say anything else, sit down and relax and Mr. Officer, please don't shoot us, we are cooperating with you in all that we can with your investigations, but on the day of the events we went to sleep around ten after having come from seeing a play at the theater, if we had known that this type of thing would happen we would not have even gone out to the theater in the afternoon, but as you can see, only my grandfather and I live in this house, my parents died many years ago, and although this is not relevant, I also they were also victims of some criminal organization, so if there are people who are more than willing to collaborate, it is us, who are indirectly affected by these types of organizations that do not think clearly about their crimes, so the officer answered: you discovered the young fish, but your grandfather is disrespecting our work, it is very good that you want to protect him, but what assures us that the murderer is not the one you protect, after all, the largest trace of blood of the victim was in front of his house, ¿why?
Tell me, ¿could it be that you are also part of the crime and trying to hide it or by chance the grandfather is innocent and you are the criminal?
Panic took over my face and I fell on my knees imploring the officer that what he was saying was not true, because we would never be accomplices of criminals neither in this nor in another life…
And then I remembered something and I said to him, officer, check the cameras that are in the lighthouses, I know that they were installed 3 years ago in this place…It's better to check them and prove our innocence, because we are decent people who have killed at most mice and some snakes in the garden, but we would never touch another human being.
The officer took note and asked again: ¿Does this place have cameras? It's good to know, now you see, that people understand each other when they talk, young Ritchie, we will look for the tape from the cameras from two days ago and we hope that you are speaking the truth because if your grandfather and you have anything to do with this murder, you both will face a very heavy sentence…
