—And what's your name?
— I'm Makoto Nishimura and the bitter girl from before is my older sister Yuriko.—He pointed to his sister who looked at him in a bad way.
—Japanese?
—Yes, we moved a few years ago because of dad's work.—He explained with a relaxed air as he walked on his back.
—I see.
—And are you...?—He left the question in the air waiting for me to complete it.
—Aisha...only Aisha.—I answered, looking away.
—Are you an orphan or something? —Yuriko's voice surprised me—Don't you have a last name?
Her younger brother turned to see her and all her expression yelled at her to shut up and not be reckless. But either the girl didn't notice it or she simply decided to ignore it.
—I have. But... it's complicated.—I said, in the hope that she would stop insisting.
Luckily, neither of them asked anything about it or asked again about my last name.
We have been walking for a couple of minutes. We managed to cross only three long blocks but unfortunately this didn't get very close to my destination. We have run into a couple of small monsters but the men in suits have taken care of them without any problem.
Unlike the previous beasts I've seen, they look extremely weak.
We also found a couple of corpses. However, the men of the Nishimura brothers have been in charge of blocking the view for us, which I appreciate. I don't stop wondering who they are enough to have escorts or where we're going, but I'm a little afraid to ask. Anyway, it can't be as bad as these beasts, can it?
—Do you know... what those things are?
Yuriko let out a sigh.
—We probably know as much as you do. They just started to appear all over the city and they are destroying everything and killing people.
—Y-You were able to kill them very easily—I mentioned remembering how they only with a couple of shots manage to kill them and I took a lot of effort to kill a single monster.—How did they do it?
—We don't have any miraculous secrets. We only found his weakness, that's all.
—Weakness?
—That monster had very thick skin but multiple eyes. It was something obvious that that was his weakness. Luckily, Mom made us carry that lamp.
'¿Her mother?'
I repressed myself so as not to ask what that meant. I didn't want to intrude too much and make her get angry with me again. It is a great gain that she answered my questions in a good way.
—I see.
'Then the weakness of the monster I found was... the fire?'
—So those little monsters...?
—Ah, actually those are weak. You don't have to worry about finding a weakness or something like that. With a simple shot they are already out of combat. — She looked at me and smiled at me in a somewhat chilling way —Who you have to worry about is the big ones.
I was silent without knowing how to respond to her strange but certain comment. Suddenly everything made more sense and I couldn't help but feel even more fortunate to have discovered the weakness of my monster by mere luck.
—How did they get here? —Murmure to myself but I was heard.
—I have a theory, but my sister refuses to accept it. —Makoto crossed his arms making a pout.
It was a little strange that he acted so relaxed considering that he has a somewhat rude appearance. It's a strange combination, but in a certain pleasant way.
—I deny it because it’s stupid.—Her sister said with a tone of annoyance. —This is not one of your silly video games.
—But it's possible. Nothing is impossible in this world, remember?
—What is your theory?— Ask, interrupting their conversation. It seemed that she would jump at any moment to hit him.
His eyes shone when he heard my words. Totally excited that someone was willing to listen to it.
— Dungeon.
—Dungeon?...like the ones in role-playing games?
—Yes, you know, an area full of monsters.—Without being able to avoid it, I looked at him as if another head had grown —It's not so crazy if you think about it. Maybe it's not a dungeon completely, since we don't enter any portal or anything like that. But the universe is so extensive that it is not crazy to think that in one way or another they managed to reach our world.
I thought about his words for a second. I've already heard about dungeons sometimes, so I have a little idea of what he is referring to, but it's hard for me to think that fantasy content has come true.
—Aren't we the only ones?
—No—Yuriko replied instantly. —Shortly after this disaster began, the news said that this had happened in some parts of the world. But they still don't know how it all started.
Silently, I watched as my feet moved step by step. I didn't know whether to feel relieved that we weren't the only ones or worried that this had happened on a large scale.
—What do they want?
—Easy, what all the monsters want. Conquering our world.
—Why? —I asked, confused— If it is true that they live in their own world, why would they want to start a war and come here?
—Hey girl—Yuriko stopped walking, forcing the rest to do the same. His cold look made me shiver. — If we knew everything, we would have done something to solve it, don't you think?
My cheeks blushed. I felt embarrassed to realize that I was being unconsidered with her, taking into account that we are all in the same situation right now.
—I'm sorry. I'm just... I'm very upset about everything.
—You're not the only one, so don't dare to play the victim. —She turned around and kept walking.
A hand landed on my shoulder giving me support.
—Don't take it too personally. She is only very upset by all this, she is a nice person once you meet her.—Makoto gave me a half crooked smile, which told me that he himself was not completely sure of his words.
I reciprocated his smile as best I could.
One hand took my wrist and I was pushed to the side of the street. A woman in a suit made her way inside a dilapidated building. We went in after her and sat glued to the wall.
—Hey, what...!
—Shut up—Yuriko interrupted her younger brother.
A second later, a strong tread was heard outside the building. Without even thinking about it, my body shrank and joined the wall in the hope of making me almost imperceptible to any possible enemy.
As the steps and a metallic sound approached, my anxiety grew more and more, as did my curiosity. In a short time the steps were heard right behind our backs. The few people in suits and the rest of us get more tense when we know the whereabouts of the beast. I was afraid to make a small move and reveal my location. But I couldn't help but do it when between the cracks in the wall I saw something moving.
A creature at least two and a half meters tall. Green skin, fangs, a large axe and clothes made of furs. It didn't even take me more than five seconds to identify what kind of creature it was.
'An orc'.
—It's smaller than I thought.— Yuriko whispered, looking through his own crack. —If we find his weakness, we can face him.
—Are you crazy? —Makoto scolded in the same volume as her. -I don't know what's out there, but it doesn't sound good. Let him go.
—It's better to attack him before he attacks us.
She was eager to get up but I stopped her by taking her by the arm. She looked at me and his bodyguards prepared to attack me if necessary, but I ignored them. After all, if things went wrong, not only would she die.
—We can't do it.
—And why not, little girl? Let go of me before I hit you too. —I held his gaze and ignored her threat.
—It's an orc.
—¿And?
—It may not be that big for you, but could you fight five of them at the same time? —Her doubtful look told me everything. —Those things always go in a herd. If we fight, we will lose.
—How are you so sure of...?
More footsteps and sounds of metal being dragged began to be heard behind our backs. They just appeared out of nowhere. Yuriko and I went to our respective cracks just to see how two other orcs of different height approached the first one.
I noticed how Yuriko stared for a second at nothing, realizing that I was right.
—We’ll wait.—she said resignedly.
We sat in silence for what seemed like an eternity. The orcs growled at each other, anyone could say that they were fighting or giving warning signs, but for me it was more as if they were communicating to each other.
It was a strange feeling and I know that if I say it out loud they will think that I am crazy, but there is something in their way of acting that I find curious and familiar at the same time.
When we finally heard the steps moving away, I let out the air that I didn't even know i was holding back. Just like everyone else.
Once the sound disappeared, one of the men in black peeked out.
—They're gone.—He made a sign indicating that it was already safe.
Cautious, we came out of our hiding place and for fear that they might come back we hurried the step.
—Where are we going, is there a long way to go?—I whispered near Yuriko.
—No—She turned around on a corner and I did the same.—We're here.
In front of us there was a large cream-colored wall with a thick black gate that prevented us from seeing inward.
—Here is...?
—Our house—She shrugged her shoulders, taking it away from importance.
Before I could say anything else, the gate opened and an older woman with a yukata came out. She bowed and then looked at us with a warm smile.
—Welcome. I'm glad they came back safely.
—Hello nana, we're back.
—Oh, I see that they brought a guest. —Her look and smile remind me of a grandmother's. —I'm not sure the master likes the idea.
—Don't worry, I'll talk to him.
We went into the house and the interior was completely different from the modern and cold impression that the exterior gave.
Inside there was a large garden with cherry trees and a beautiful pond with Koi fish. A little far from the entrance I could see a house with an old Japanese style but with a touch of modernity.
I knew I shouldn't talk about it, but before I could suppress myself, my mouth was already moving by itself.
—What did you say was your father's job?— Ask Makoto in the midst of my astonishment.
—He's a yakuza.
