The next day, the weather improved slightly, though dark clouds still loomed on the horizon. Ren Haruki was in his office, surrounded by investigation files and evidence collected from the crime scene. His blue eyes were fixed on the photos taken that stormy night, which showed Mika Yoru’s body on the ground. Everything seemed like part of a complex puzzle, but Ren was determined to unravel the tangled threads of the case.
As Ren focused on his work, one of the assistant investigators entered the office, carrying a new report from the forensic lab. The investigator looked concerned

Ren took the report and read it carefully. The chemicals found were mysterious, adding complexity to the case. The scientist explained in detail, “The poison we found appears to be extremely rare. It’s a neurotoxin affecting the central nervous system and can be lethal in small doses. It requires in-depth analysis to determine its source and how it was obtained.”
Ren nodded and took the information into consideration. That same day, he went to the high school where the investigation continued. Students and teachers had resumed their lives, but the atmosphere was tense with fear and anxiety. Ren went to the principal’s office to seek additional information.
The principal, a middle-aged man, greeted Ren warmly but seemed anxious. He said, “I think there is some information that might be useful to you. Mika had recently been feeling anxious, and some students noticed she was receiving mysterious messages.”
This information piqued Ren’s interest. He asked the principal for copies of Mika’s messages, and the principal provided him with some letters found in her bag. The messages were written in an unusual script and contained strange symbols. Ren decided to investigate the source of these messages, believing they might be key to understanding what happened.
While Ren was examining the messages, Mayumi Kuno, one of the school’s teachers, entered the room. She said with concern, “I want to help with the investigation. I taught literature to Mika, and she was always shy. I believe there was something we didn’t know.”
“Did you notice any unusual behavior from Mika recently?” Ren asked
Mayumi responded, “She didn’t talk about anything specific, but she looked pale and anxious. She increasingly avoided social interactions.”
Based on this information, Ren decided to speak with some students who were close to Mika. Among them was Ikari Satsujin, who had shown concern the previous day. Ren arranged a meeting with Ikari in the school office.
When Ikari arrived at the office, he appeared calmer than the previous day. He said while sitting in front of Ren, “I told you yesterday that Mika was anxious, but I didn’t tell you everything. She sometimes talked about someone sending her strange messages, and I thought it was just a joke.”
Ren asked, “Did you know who was sending these messages?”
Ikari replied, “No, I didn’t. But there is another student named Nakae Haru who knew about it. He might have some idea about this person.”
Based on this information, Ren decided to look for Nakae Haru. Nakae was an ordinary student, but Ren felt he might have useful details. Ren visited Nakae’s home, and when he met him, he inquired about Mika’s messages.
Nakae, showing signs of nervousness, said, “I heard about the messages, but I didn’t know many details. It could have been a joke or just idle threats.”
Ren wasn’t convinced by Nakae’s words. He felt there was something off. He decided to return to the school to review Mika’s notes and check her records.
While at the school, Ren avoided approaching other students who were gathered around, sensing they might be just ordinary observers. However, he noticed something unusual. There was a student observing the scene closely, with no signs of worry.
In the evening, after a long day of investigation, Ren sat in his office, reviewing the notes and messages. He examined every detail carefully. The evidence was still insufficient to form a clear picture of the crime, but Ren was gradually getting closer to understanding the events.
As he worked, Dr. Susuki Katsu, the eccentric friend who assists in investigations, entered the room.
“I’ve received new results from the body analysis. There is a strange mark on Mika’s hand that might be related to the poison.”
Ren took the new information into account and decided to continue searching for additional evidence. He knew that each step would be crucial in solving the mystery.
At midnight, while the city was immersed in the silence of the night, Ren was still working, absorbed in the investigation. The threads of the case were becoming more entangled, but his determination remained strong. Deep down, he knew that uncovering the truth required patience and vigilance, and that every new clue could be the key to solving “The Unusual Case.”
