A few days had passed since the investigation into Mika Yoru's murder began, and the evidence was becoming unexpectedly complex. Ren Haruki started forming a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding the victim, but the mystery enveloping the case only made it more complicated.
One morning, Ren decided to visit Mika's home in search of any useful clues. The house was quiet, and the streets surrounding it were covered in fallen leaves from the trees. Upon arriving, Mika's father greeted him with deep sadness, a middle-aged man with tired features. He pointed to the living room, which was filled with pictures of Mika and her family, indicating that this might be where some secrets lay hidden.
As Ren inspected the room, he noticed an old book on a shelf. The book looked strange, as if time had conspired to make it seem more valuable. Ren opened the book and found scattered notes and comments. Some pages contained cryptic messages and symbols, as if written in a secret code. This discovery surprised him, as it appeared Mika was dealing with something bigger than just academic problems.
While Ren was engrossed in the book, Mika's mother entered the room, looking more disturbed than before. Her face was marked with confusion and fear. She said in a hushed tone, "We didn't know Mika was suffering so much. She had another notebook, but it disappeared. There might be important details in it."
Ren asked curiously, "Can you tell me where this notebook was?"
Her mother replied, "It was in her bag, but we couldn't find any trace of it after the incident."
Taking this information into account, Ren prepared to leave the house but was stopped by something unusual. He noticed a suspicious vehicle parked on the street and saw some unusual activity around it. Deciding to follow the car, Ren hoped to find new clues.
He trailed the car to a secluded area, where a group of young people were gathered in an unspecified location. From a distance, Ren could see a person wearing a hat and mask, seemingly trying to conceal their identity. Ren approached the group quietly, trying to overhear their conversation.
"Did you get the messages?" asked one of the individuals in a low voice.
Another replied, "Yes, but there's a problem. It seems someone is investigating. We need to be careful."
Ren felt a strong sense that something was amiss. He decided to return to his office and review the new information he had gathered. He had a strong feeling that this mysterious individual might be connected to the case.
The next day, Ren went back to school to meet with Kaito Yamada again. Kaito appeared more anxious than before. "I was looking through the school's old records and found some documents that might be relevant. There are some records indicating unusual changes in Mika's class schedules."
Ren asked with focus, "Can you give me more details about these changes?"
Kaito replied, "The changes seem to be linked to specific time periods. There are unexplained alterations in the class schedules, which might coincide with times of stress and anxiety."
As Ren analyzed these changes, he noticed a troubling pattern: Mika had received extra lessons at odd times, which coincided with the dates when she received the strange messages. Deciding to investigate further, Ren sought out Shinji Komatsu, a student who had been assisting Mika during that period.
Ren met with Shinji in the school office. Shinji appeared to be carrying a heavy burden. He said with a frown, "I was helping Mika with her studies, but she avoided talking about her problems. She received strange messages, but she never shared any details."
Ren asked, "Do you have any idea who might be behind these messages or anyone who could be involved?"
Shinji replied, "I don't know, but there's someone who might have information. His name is Saito Kijo. He was in Mika's class and might know more about what was happening."
Ren decided to track down Saito Kijo and found himself in Saito's office at the school. Saito appeared calm, yet had a mysterious expression. He said, "I wasn't aware of everything, but Mika occasionally mentioned receiving threats. I didn't understand why."
Ren inquired, "Do you have any idea who might be behind these threats?"
Saito answered, "I don't have specific information, but I heard some people talking about Mika in an inappropriate manner."
At the end of the day, Ren returned to his office, his eyes scanning every detail. He felt that each new lead might be the key to solving the "Unusual Case." While reviewing files and messages, he heard a knock at the door. It was Dr. Susuki Katsu carrying new findings.
Dr. Katsu placed his briefcase on the table
"We've discovered something significant. There’s an unusual mark on Mika’s hand that seems to be a symbol used by some individuals to send coded messages. This mark could be evidence of the type of poison used, but it also suggests that a specific entity might be behind this crime."
Ren looked at Dr. Katsu with focus
"What type of poison are you referring to? And how could this mark be related?"
Dr. Katsu responded, "The poison we found is very rare, used only in specific cases. The mark on Mika’s hand could be evidence of intentional poisoning, and it might be part of certain rituals or a symbol for a particular group."
Ren felt a surge of excitement and began connecting the new information with the patterns he had seen in the investigation. "If this mark indicates certain rituals or symbols, it could be a clue pointing to an organization or a specific person behind the crime. We need to analyze this mark further and look for any potential connections."
Dr. Katsu added, "I agree. It would also be helpful to compare this mark with any similar ones found in previous cases. We might uncover a pattern or connection that gives us insight into the perpetrator’s identity."
Hearing this, Ren was more enthusiastic than ever. He knew that each new thread could bring him a step closer to unraveling the mystery, and that this mark might be the missing piece of the intricate puzzle.
