So you know how there’s like a hundred villainess reincarnation stories out there? There’s usually a prince character, a prime minister’s son one, maybe a sibling, maybe another love interest or two, something with magic. You know the story.
And then there’s the girl, the poor innocent soul, usually with a shitty past, who spends the entire story just trying to stay alive. There’s usually a school arc that the original book took place in. She wins them over with her kindness and by the end everyone is supposed to love and adore her. She’s happy because everyone she loves is happy. She’s a truly selfless individual. But, then what?
She marries the prince? The one she’s been lying to since the start. Or maybe she goes on lovelessly and does something revolutionary for the nation with her dear friends. You know the friends she also lied to for years. Or we go the family arc where she dedicates her life to the family who knew nothing about their child who was born with the love of another family buried deep in her heart or the hatred. Bottom line, it’s a life of secrets.
She just, what, continues to stifle herself and past memories for the happiness of others. Her inner self just has to remain in the shadows for “survival.”
What a shitty way to end the story.
And there I was at the end of the story. My reward for surviving this long seemed to be an identity crisis. That and a dance with the crown prince, and a very unexpected kiss.
Yeah that kiss, the one you usually read to the end for. That’s where I’m starting so deal with it.
