On the sixth morning of the investigation, Ren Haruki felt an increasing pressure to uncover the truth. After days of scrutinizing evidence and reviewing information, the strands of the case began to intertwine more intricately. There was a feeling that something big was approaching, and time was running out. Yet, Ren was determined not to let the pressure affect him; he was resolute in his pursuit of justice for Mika Yoru’s death.
Ren received an unexpected phone call from the school principal, Mr. Yoshida. "Ren, can you come to my office? There’s something I think might help you with the investigation."
When Ren arrived at Mr. Yoshida’s office, he found the principal waiting, next to a table full of old files. "Thank you for coming, Ren. I wanted to share some information that might be important."
Mr. Yoshida opened one of the files and showed Ren a collection of documents and photos from years ago. "These photos are from an incident that occurred at the school ten years ago. A student was found dead under mysterious circumstances. I think there might be a connection between the two incidents."
Ren took the documents and examined them closely. There was a strange similarity between the two incidents, but the details were not clear enough. "Could this incident be related to the current case?" Ren asked.
"I can’t be certain, but I thought it was better for you to know about it. There might be something you haven't noticed yet."
Considering this new information, Ren decided to go back to the investigation file, focusing on the photos and documents provided by Mr. Yoshida. There were hints pointing to common elements between the past incidents and the current case, but Ren needed more evidence to confirm his suspicions.
While Ren was in his office, he received an anonymous text message: "The threads you’re searching for are in the shadows of the past. Uncover them, and you’ll reach the truth."
It was clear that this message was a hint towards something Ren had not yet discovered. He decided to begin investigating the school’s old history, trying to find any connection between past incidents and the current case.
Later that day, Ren went to the public library to search through old archives. After hours of sifting through files, he found a news report about another similar incident that occurred at the same school years ago. The case involved another student who disappeared under mysterious circumstances and was never found.
During his research, Ren received a call from Dr. Katsu Suzuki, who informed him that he had found something interesting during his examination of Mika Yoru’s body. "Ren, I found something unexpected on the body. There’s a small mark on the victim’s body that I didn’t notice at first. I think it might be significant."
Ren hurried to Dr. Katsu’s office, where the latter showed him the small mark he had discovered. It was a faint symbol on Mika’s wrist, resembling ancient runes. "Do you think this mark could be evidence of something specific?" Ren asked.
"I can’t be sure, but it might be a symbolic mark pointing to something. It could relate to themes connected to the past."
With this new information, Ren felt that the threads of the case were beginning to intertwine more tightly. He decided to return to the school and talk to people who had been close to Mika, especially her classmates and close friends. His aim was to gather additional information that might help explain the meaning of the mark.
Upon arriving at the school, Ren chose to speak with Masaki Ito again, the student who had interacted with Mika. This time, Ren was more incisive in his questioning. "Masaki, do you have any idea about the mark found on Mika? Did you ever see any symbols or marks she might have mentioned?"
Masaki appeared nervous and began avoiding eye contact with Ren. "No, I didn’t see any marks or symbols. But she used to talk about strange things, and I thought they were just random thoughts."
Ren continued to interrogate him, trying to extract any valuable information. Despite Masaki’s attempts to conceal the truth, Ren was able to notice hints in his disjointed behavior.
After leaving Masaki’s office, Ren decided to investigate the places Mika frequently visited, such as the library and the school. There was a sense that something hidden was lurking in the school’s corners.
While inspecting the library, Ren noticed a small room behind the bookshelves. He entered the room and found a collection of old files that were not publicly accessible. There were notebooks and old books referring to unusual experiments and tests conducted at the school in past years.
Among these documents, Ren discovered a notebook belonging to a former teacher. It contained notes about students and strange events witnessed at the school. By reading these notes, Ren found information about a former student who had disappeared in a similar mysterious manner.
Ren felt that the missing pieces of the case were beginning to come together. He sent the information to Dr. Katsu for further analysis. Meanwhile, things started to accelerate, and concerns grew that the killer might be planning another move.
As night approached, Ren felt immense tension, as the evidence began to reveal itself, but at the same time, there were signs that the killer was planning something bigger. He felt that something important was about to happen and that he needed to be prepared for any challenges that might come his way.
