As the day began to transition into evening, Ren Haruki arrived at Dr. Shiro Nagato's office. The air inside was thick with the scent of medicines and chemicals, and the dim lighting added an aura of mystery to the place. Ren entered, his eyes scanning the shelves filled with books and equipment, searching for the doctor.
"Dr. Nagato, are you here?" Ren called out.
The doctor appeared from behind one of the shelves, holding a notebook and a stack of papers. "Ah, Ren, welcome. You’ve arrived just in time. I was reviewing some recent findings."
"Can I talk to you about the symbols we found at the crime scene?" Ren asked as he took a seat on one of the chairs.
"Of course, have a seat. I'll show you what I’ve discovered," Nagato replied, sitting across from him and opening the notebook. "The symbols you found represent a type of ancient script. It seems they are used to convey hidden messages or prophecies."
"Do you think they’re connected to the recent crime?" Ren asked, his curiosity piqued.
"Possibly, but we need to explore all the possibilities. The symbols might be a sign of something deeper. Do you have any idea where they came from?"
"Not yet, but I have a feeling there’s something mysterious behind them. Nakai Haru, Mika’s friend, mentioned seeing a suspicious person loitering around the school."
"Interesting. We should investigate that lead as well. But first, let’s talk about the symbols. There’s a theory that these writings could be a type of ancient cipher."
"A cipher?" Ren asked, trying to grasp the connection between the symbols and the crime.
"Yes, the cipher could be a way to hide messages. The killer might be using it to communicate something specific. But we’ll need a key to decode it."
"Do you think that key could be related to the other crimes?" Ren asked, focusing on the details.
"It’s possible. If there are hidden messages, they could be linked to the crime or even to a series of crimes. We might have to look for other signs that point to the cipher."
At that moment, one of Dr. Nagato’s assistants entered the office, carrying a stack of files. "Doctor, here are the files you requested."
"Thank you, we’ll need to review them. Ren, let’s go through the previous crime files. There might be details that could help us."
Ren took the files and began reviewing them with Nagato. As they worked, Nagato’s phone rang. He answered briefly. "Sorry, I have to attend an important meeting. Can you continue reviewing the files?"
"Of course, I will," Ren replied, feeling the weight of responsibility growing. After the doctor left, Ren continued examining the files with greater focus. He noticed hints of similar crimes occurring over the years, but they had gone unsolved. Some of these crimes contained details similar to those in the symbols.
As Ren worked diligently, he received another call from Nakai Haru. "Ren, I need to tell you something else. I had a strange dream last night. There was a person sending me a message, saying that something big is going to be revealed."
"What did they say in the dream?" Ren asked with concern.
"I couldn’t see his face, but he said the truth will soon become clear, and that I should search in places that seem familiar."
"Do you have any idea what places he’s referring to?" Ren asked.
"I think he means the places I used to visit frequently. Maybe the school or the spots Mika and I used to go to."
After the call ended, Ren felt that new leads were emerging. He decided that he needed to return to the school and explore the places Nakai had mentioned. But before leaving, he decided to review the encrypted messages Dr. Nagato had been working on. He discovered a certain pattern in the messages that could indicate a specific location.
Once Ren completed his review, he decided to head back to the school. On the way, he thought about all the details he had gathered. Every clue and every message led to new mysteries, and the closer he got to the solution, the more complex it became.
Ren arrived at the school and began examining the places Nakai had mentioned. During his exploration, he felt something unusual. There was a mark on one of the walls, as if it had been drawn recently. The mark resembled the symbols he had found at the crime scene.
As Ren continued his search, he noticed someone wandering around the school, seemingly trying to avoid being seen. Ren wasn’t sure who this person was, but he felt there was a connection between him and the crimes.
As time passed, Ren felt that things were heading towards an important revelation. He sensed that the solution was near, and that he would need to be at his best to uncover the truth behind these crimes.
