I thought about what this fantasy southern kingdom would look like socially, built around the great council that speaks for the main races who are in power. It does always seem like only those who belong somewhere have power, and that always felt wrong to me, at least if not everyone can belong somewhere, but it is how we navigate the world often.
The elves are on top, backed by the Dragons, with their Queen the absolute ruler and source of magic, which only the members of the 8 Houses have access to. The Dwarves have their gold and craft, but even they have their frustrated, and the Orcs are just happy to be taken into account. Others like the halfling don't even get representation. NOTE: I had written the first few chapters a few years back, but working with my therapist, she advised me to try writing again and it has helped me a lot, so, I'm going to try and finish it here over time.
