In the moments following Nakai’s departure to check what had happened at the neighboring school, Ren felt that things were starting to take a dangerous turn. The evidence they had gathered indicated that they were facing not just a series of ordinary crimes but a complex network of conspiracies extending to higher levels. However, there was something Ren couldn’t quite put his finger on—a mysterious feeling that someone was closely monitoring their movements.
Ren returned to his office and closed the door behind him, trying to gather his thoughts. He sat at his desk and stared at the documents before him. He felt the weight of responsibility on his shoulders; he was no longer just pursuing a killer but facing an enemy hiding in the shadows, concealing their truth behind a mask of deceit and misdirection.
Ren began reviewing the encrypted messages he had found with Dr. Nagato. There was a recurring pattern in some of the messages, but decoding them wasn’t easy. He tried to think about everything he had gone through before, attempting to piece together the threads.
At that moment, Ren’s phone rang. The caller was unknown, causing him to hesitate for a moment before answering.
"This is Ren Haruki speaking," Ren said cautiously.
"You’re close to the truth, but you’re not prepared for what you’ll discover," came the voice on the other end. It was an eerie tone, and Ren couldn’t distinguish who was speaking.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Ren asked, trying to maintain his composure.
"What’s important now isn’t who I am. Just know that every step you take will be meticulously calculated. If you want to survive, you need to know when to back down," the voice said before the call abruptly ended.
Ren stared at the phone for a few moments. The words carried a veiled threat, but he wasn’t one to back down easily. He knew that what he was up against was more dangerous than he had anticipated, but that only fueled his determination to uncover the truth.
He decided to go to Dr. Nagato’s office to inform him of what had happened. When he arrived at the office, he found Dr. Nagato deeply engrossed in reviewing some old documents.
"Dr. Nagato, I just received a strange call. It seems someone is monitoring us and trying to prevent us from moving forward," Ren said, recounting the incident.
Nagato looked at him intently and said, "That’s not surprising. The closer we get to the truth, the greater the danger. But we must be cautious and expect that someone is trying to obstruct us."
"But what do we do now? If they’re watching us, they must have a plan to stop us from progressing," Ren asked anxiously.
"We need to be smarter than them. Perhaps we should use this to our advantage. We can plan our next moves carefully and leave false signals to make them think we’re going in one direction while we head in another," Nagato suggested.
Ren considered the proposal and found it logical. "Alright, let’s start. But we need to be extremely careful. Any mistake could cost us our lives."
The two of them began planning how to proceed with caution. There were many pieces of evidence that needed analysis, and they had to be prepared to face whatever might come their way.
Meanwhile, Nakai was sneaking into the neighboring school. The building was abandoned at that late hour, and darkness enveloped everything. Nakai felt that something unusual was happening here. The feeling of dread grew as he moved through the narrow corridors.
When he reached the abandoned classroom his friend had mentioned, he found the door slightly ajar. He entered slowly, trying to make no sound. The classroom was almost empty, except for some old furniture and posters on the walls. But something caught his attention.
On the back wall of the classroom, there was a series of symbols and inscriptions that looked familiar. They resembled those found at the crime scene. Nakai approached them cautiously, trying to decipher their meaning.
Suddenly, he heard a sound behind him. He turned quickly to find a person standing in the shadows, watching him with cold eyes. Nakai couldn’t see their face clearly, but he had a strong feeling that this person was not here to help him.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Nakai asked, trying to hide his fear.
But the person did not respond. Instead, they began to move slowly closer, their footsteps echoing strangely in the space. Nakai felt time slowing down, and danger was approaching him.
Nakai decided to act quickly, but he found that the doors and windows had been securely closed. He was trapped.
"I think you came to the wrong place at the wrong time," the person finally said, in a cold voice.
"What do you mean?" Nakai asked, trying to find any way to escape.
"You’ll find out soon enough. But first, let me show you something," the person said, pointing to the wall where the inscriptions were.
The inscriptions began to glow with a deep red color, as if they were coming to life. Nakai felt something dangerous was about to happen, but he couldn’t move. He was mesmerized by the strange lights.
Then the wall started to shake, as if something behind it was trying to emerge. Nakai felt a mix of fear and astonishment. He didn’t know whether to flee or stay and see what would happen.
In Dr. Nagato’s office, Ren was growing increasingly worried about Nakai. He hadn’t heard any news from him since he left, and time was passing slowly. He knew that something dangerous was happening.
"Dr. Nagato, we need to move. Nakai is in danger, and I feel that things are heading towards a disaster," Ren said, standing up quickly.
"I agree. We can’t wait any longer. Let’s go to the neighboring school and look for him," Nagato replied, gathering some equipment.
As they made their way to the school, Ren felt that something terrible had happened. They needed to reach Nakai before it was too late. But when they arrived, they found the classroom locked and bloodstains on the floor.
At that moment, Ren realized that things had spiraled out of control. They had to face the truth, no matter how grim, and prepare for the worst.
Ren and Nagato moved quickly towards the abandoned classroom, where bloodstains indicated something horrific had occurred. The atmosphere was charged with tension and fear, with faint sounds coming from the old walls increasing their sense of danger.
When they reached the classroom door, Ren stopped to catch his breath and plan their entry. “Nagato, we need to be careful. There could be a trap or something worse waiting for us.”
“I understand,” Nagato replied, carefully examining the door for any signs of hidden mechanisms. “But we can't afford to delay. Nakai could be in serious danger.”
With great caution, Ren slowly opened the door. What they saw was chilling. The wall that had been glowing with red light had stopped glowing, but the room was filled with bloodstains and strange symbols that were not easily explainable. It looked as if something had emerged from the wall, leaving behind traces of destruction and chaos.
Nagato looked at the wall with eyes filled with amazement and fear. “This can’t be just a coincidence. Something big is happening here, something beyond what we anticipated.”
Ren moved towards the center of the room where the wall was shattered. He noticed something strange on the ground near the debris. He bent down to pick it up and found a small metal piece engraved with a strange symbol. The symbol resembled those found earlier at crime scenes but was more intricate and mysterious.
“Nagato, look at this. It seems this symbol is the key to understanding what’s happening here,” Ren said, examining the metal piece carefully.
Nagato took the piece and looked at it closely. “This symbol... it represents something ancient and mysterious. But I can’t determine its exact meaning. We’ll need further research to analyze these symbols and connect them.”
As they spoke, they heard a faint sound coming from a corner of the room. Ren quickly moved towards the sound and found Nakai lying on the floor, bloodied but still alive. It was clear he had been subjected to a violent attack.
“Nakai! Can you hear me?” Ren said, kneeling beside him and trying to wake him up.
Nakai raised his head with difficulty and opened his eyes slowly. “Ren... they were here. They were trying to... kill me. I saw... something I can’t explain.”
“Calm down. We’re here now. We’ll get you out of here and make sure you’re okay,” Ren said, trying to reassure Nakai.
But before he could get up, the ground began to shake again. The wall that had been damaged started to crack more, as if something bigger was trying to come out.
“Ren, we need to get out of here now!” Nagato shouted as he ran towards the door.
But Ren was hesitant, wanting to take Nakai with him at any cost. “I’m not leaving him here!”
At that moment, the wall suddenly exploded, and a loud sound filled the place. An invisible force surged towards them, trying to pull them into the darkness behind the wall.
With all his strength, Ren grabbed Nakai and pulled him away from the wall. Nagato assisted them, trying to stay steady despite the chaos around them.
They managed to escape the room and run into the dark corridors. But the mysterious sound seemed to follow them, as if something was relentlessly pursuing them.
When they finally reached the outside, they stopped to catch their breath. The place was eerily quiet, as if what had happened inside the school had left no trace on the outside world. But they knew that this calm was just the beginning of a bigger storm.
Ren looked at Nakai, who was bleeding but still able to stand. “You need to rest now. We’ll find a safe place for you.”
But Nakai had something he wanted to say before losing consciousness again. “Ren... there was... a man with long white hair....... its reaching his shoulders like yours, tall... in his thirties. He’s... behind all this. He also left you a message.”
Ren was shocked by this. “What? What did he say?”
But before Nakai could reply, he lost consciousness completely. Nakai’s final words hinted that things were about to get more complicated and dangerous. There was someone playing a dangerous game, and now Ren and Nagato were at the heart of it.
They knew they were facing a long battle full of secrets. As the truth approached, things were becoming increasingly complex and mysterious. Nevertheless, Ren was determined to continue the path, no matter the challenges ahead.
