WELLS

As I’m walking back to my cabin after leaving Eastons I realized that one of the trails that I love to go on is really close so I started walking towards it, knowing it will take me longer to get home. But that was almost the point, I wanted to avoid Flora, knowing I'd have to give her a reason for what I did last night. 

I’ll just say that I don’t want to talk about it for Easton’s privacy. She probably wouldn't pressure me then. 

I just want to go back and swim in the lake…

I make it to the clearing in the trail near our cabin just as the sun has reached its peak in the sky. Meaning it was about time for lunch. I start walking to the back porch to let myself in, noticing that Flora is busy painting and blasting music so she won’t be able to hear me. 

I let out a sigh of relief. Now I won't have to talk about it until later. I make my way to the kitchen to make lunch before swimming. 

I turn on my own music so I can focus on what I’m doing. I click on one of the first playlists I see, one of my country playlists. I really like country music, it makes me feel calm and reminds me of the time I’d spend at Calla’s home when we were younger. Her parents always had country music on and it eventually became a thing that would calm me. 

As I start rummaging through the fridge I realize we need to go to the store again for food but I would be fine making a salad for today. Once I finished the salad I took a seat on the bench of our table, pulling out my phone. 

The first thing to pop up on my screen was the picture of Easton I got this morning with him all wrapped in the blankets. I laugh at it again debating whether to send it to him or not. I mean we don’t really text each other. But maybe I’ll send it then go out for a swim and not look again until I come back in.

I was making my way to get changed for swimming when I saw a text from Easton show up.

thanks again for last night. i really appreciate it.

Well that was just perfect timing, as I was getting ready to head out for the swim either way. So I responded with the photo from this morning and a message saying he's welcome, it's not a problem. 

I don’t get to see what he responds with before I toss my phone away and jump into the water.

EASTON

After getting Wells' response from my text, I try to remember when he would have taken it. Considering I was up before him it wasn’t hard to realize that he had really taken a photo of me this morning and that's what I heard.

This might be a stupid decision but I had already gotten my shoes on and was at the door so might as well go with it. I knew the trail near my cabin led to a clearing by Well and Flora’s cabin. It took me a little to get them but when I did I saw that Wells was swimming in the lake.

Wasn’t he cold? 

As I walked further into the clearing I accidentally stepped on a twig. I froze realizing that Wells had realized I was here now and he had a look of fear on his face. Why?
