(Lancelot’s POV)
As I brushed my light brown hair backwards, I stared at myself many times in the mirror. Now that I look closely, I really have reincarnated as Lancelot Ral Constance. A slightly 23 and slender stature, Caucasian skin, with amber eyes and light brown wavy short hair.
He has such beautiful features yet not much readers remembered him as he died very early in the novel. I also felt guilty because I too never cared to remember him, especially because he was an evil person, who just does everything that Avery asked him to do.
Speaking of Avery, today was the day where I finally was asked to accompany her to the royal ball in the palace to celebrate her engagement with the second prince, Louis Ilya Tristan. That night will also be the moment where I will die, either by the first prince’s hands, or by the poison. I have trained my swordsmanship skills enough already, so maybe the poison will kill me later than usual.
“Master, are you ready?”
Taylor knocked on my bedroom door. After gaining my permision to enter the room, the old butler stepped inside.
“I am. I will be departing to the Ronan household first before I went to the palace with them.”
Apparently, Avery gained permission to bring me to the capital, in condition where I didn’t stir any trouble or tarnish the royal’s name, because people from other country also gathered there.
Who did the king think I am? Well, I do admit that the old Lancelot caused a lot of trouble that I also wanted to at least upper cut him on the jaw if possible, but now that I am Lancelot, his highness reminding me not to cause trouble kinda piss me off.
Suddenly a movement caught my eyes before Taylor’s hand caressed one of my cheeks.
“Please be careful, Master.” His complexion doesn’t look like his age at all. If anything, it feels as if I am standing in front of someone of the same age as me, a young adult whose gazes are as passionate as his feelings. I immediately jolted.
What am I thinking about towards someone older than me. I do admit I am middle aged internally, but Taylor is on the same age as my old uncle back in my world. I shouldn’t be thinking of something so vulgar towards someone I deemed like my own father.
I gently swatted his hands away and laughed nervously. Taylor is probably worried of me, like how a parents would. The only problem lies on me, my self that wasn’t able to control my desire upon someone of the same sex. It wasn’t that bad when I first came into this world, but the more I accostumed myself with the surroundings, the more attracted I am to experience the excitement of feeling ones touch.
I am shameful.
The two of us then began to walk to the exit of the mansion, where the carriages were waiting for me.
As I stepped out of the household, I noticed that all of the people who would be following me to the capital have all prepared themselves. I brought Carl and three other knights, Hans(Because I wanted to look at him all I want before I died), the maid named Maria and Silica.
“Have you finished packing all the stuffs?”
I asked Silica.
“Yes! All what’s left is for us to depart.”
I nodded to her statement.
Before I entered the carriage, I glanced at the mansion for one last time. Compared to the first time I got reincarnated here, the mansion looked very clean. Like, literally. I mean! I changed the color of the walls to white and bought white flowers and statues with the money that I managed to gain from selling my old things.
As a result, the mansion looked brand new, but it also gave a feeling that there was no one lived there, like an empty mansion.
I snickered.
I have prepared all the ingredients for the cure. Now all that was left is to get Cecilia’s blood. I hope I succeed.
“Master Lancelot.”
A guard called me. “What is it?” I halted my trascend into the carriage and turned to him. He pointed towards the gate where a little girl was standing while holding on to something as she shot me a hopeful look.
“You are...”
I walked near her. As I looked closer to her, I remember seeing her inside the chief’s house. Was her his daughter? Or was her the granddaughter?
“What are you doing here? You might get hurt you know.”
I said, telling her not to stand on the main gate as she might got ran onto by the horse carriage. The little girl pursed her lips and frowned, before slowly, handing me something from her little hands.
“This, the town people made this for you.”
It was a string amulet, braided with strings of white, light yellow and light green.
“...Thank you. It is very beautiful.”
I smiled.
The girl fell silent while she wore the same expression as before.
“...And mister...” The girl suddenly flushed and fidgeted while twisting her toe on the ground.
“Hmm?” I clasped the amulet and gazed at her.
“...See you later!”
Then she ran away.
I was then left there, dumbfounded. Unconsciously I sniggered when I was reminded of her shy gestures. It must have taken a lot of courage to talk to me.
I placed the amulet inside the inner pocket of my long coat and returned to the carriage. To my surprise, all the servants were there before I knew it.
“Wow, what is this?”
I stammered. Seeing them all here kinda make me nervous.
“Master.”
A maid walked closer to me.
“This is for you.”
She handed a box containing an ear cuff that was embedded with seven strangely shining emeralds.
“We thank you for your kindness to let us return to our homeland for a few days. Because of that, I am able to make this ear cuff with the help of the people from my land.”
Oh, right. I remember giving them a four day holiday for them to return back to their home and meet their loved ones, because I don’t remember Lancelot letting his servants have holidays. What a bad employer. But for her to be able to make such magneficient piece in just a few days...
“Did you use magic?”
“...Yes. I am a descendant of an elf.”
My eyes widen. In an instant, I held onto her hands that were holding the box. I looked at her excitedly and I don’t know why, but maybe my eyes sparkle too.
“That... is so cool!”
I said to her. She flinched and blushed in response. The others behind her also blushed in embarrassment. I might be gay, but for a gamer like me, male or female...
ELVES. ARE. BEAUTIFUL.
This rule is absolute.
No matter what game I played, be it elves, night elves, dark elves or blood elves, every elves in games were depicted as a very beautiful being. And now that I see the maid closely, she really is very beautiful with her light yellow hair and green eyes. I don’t know how she managed to hide her pointy ears but she is an elf so of course she knows some magic that could hide some of her features. Of course I will meet some of those other races, the novel setting is in a world of swords and magic after all. But to think that I’m able to meet one so soon, I’m so happy~
“T-Thank you...”
She murmured, getting more embarrassed as time went by.
I smiled and took the box that she gave me.
“Thank you. I promise I’ll wear this in the ceremony.”
I closed the box and keep it in my coat’s pocket before entering the carriage. Then, we exchanged farewells before departing to the Ronan estate.
