(Lancelot’s POV)
I unsheathed my sword and get into my battle stance. 6 empowered intermediate beasts, huh? Luckily I remembered this scene in the novel where Cecilia would be attacked by the beast when she secretly went home to meet her parents. In the original plot, they fought the beasts for too long that the second prince realize her being gone and searched for her. Ultimately, the second prince would also put the blame of releasing the beast to Lancelot when in actuality, it was Avery who had done it.
I don’t care much even if the blame were put on me, because I’m gonna die anyways, but if I were to let things be, Cecilia’s close aid, Dante Arville will be rendered disable due to the damage that was caused by the curse on the beasts fang. And in the later half of the novel, Dante somehow became evil and wanted to take the throne of the country.
...Sounds mad, right?
But I forgot to tell you that the main theme for the novel is action before romance, so of course many action scenes would appear in later chapters of the novel. By the way, did they really never suspects Avery to be the mastermind of all that has happened? Might be because she is the daughter of the Marquis or something.
I took a deep breath and exhaled. Okay, demonic beasts operates on dark magic, so holy magic is strong against it. Though, I didn’t have affinity towards holy magic or even any other magic because I am just a villian that was gonna die soon so the author decided to give a trashy stats to me!
But I am confident with my physical attacks. If I don’t have any magic attacks, I’mma land a physical attack, again and again until the monsters all fell one by one.
GRRRRRR!
The beasts growled before all of them pounced at me at the same time.
“Good good, come at me!”
I yelled and swung my sword with full power.
Silica paced to and fro as she nibbled on her thumb anxiously. After their master told them to reach the household first before him and left with an extra horse that they brought with them, they have been waiting for several minutes after they reached the Ronan household.
Luckily, Marquis Ronan is kind enough to let them wait for their master before they entered the mansion.
“Do you think, Master will be okay?”
Silica asked.
“I don’t know... I just hope Master was not hurt.”
Hans answered. He clearly looked anxious as he waited for his master’s return.
Then, not far from the gate, they saw Lancelot on his horse as it slowly galloped towards their way.
“Master!”
As he came closer, their eyes widened in horror.
(Lancelot’s POV)
I opened my eyes slowly. As I sat up, I grunted from the pain around my abdomen and chest. If I remembered correctly, last night I was fighthing with the demonic beasts and while my stamina slowly drained, the last beast striked their attack onto me by slashing my front body. Fortunately I won, but yeah, I’m in stitches and my body is in pain.
“Were you awake? Are you alright?”
A woman voice was heard from beside me. They are asking whether I am okay and all, but there wasn’t any concern in the slightest in their words.
I looked to see who it was and to my surprise, it was none other than Avery Ila Ronan herself. She smiled insincerely to me and called a maid to bring me some food.
“Are you alright?”
She asked again.
“Yes? Ah, yes. Yes, I’m alright.”
I answered.
She smiled again.
“Glad to hear. Wait for a moment, the maid will bring your food soon.”
She said and glanced towards the bedroom door.
In just a short time, a set of meals were served in front of me.
“Why thank you.”
I thanked her and started eating.
“...”
In all the moments of me savoring the meal she had prepared for me, she never said any word. She just stared at me like I am some kind of lab animal with that piercing red eyes of hers.
Truthfully, I don’t want to admit but the author made even the villians in the novel look beautiful. Excluding her psychopathic personality, Avery Ila Ronan is one of the most beautiful woman in the Tristan Kingdom. Golden long wavy hair, perfect skin with perfect body proportion and even a lustrous body. She is like the epitome of perfection that even the MC didn’t have.
Unfortunately, her love for the second prince was too deep that she even resorted to harming others around her just to get what she wants. I remembered her ruining the Marquis family just to curse Cecilia. In return, she died because of that curse and Cecilia recovered soon after. The ending was simple but her attempts brought ruin to her and all around her. Simply put, she is the type of woman who was clingy and selfish, and a pain in the butt.
Suddenly I feel kinda lucky to be able to die early than to see her running amok in the country.
“Are you finished?”
Avery asked after seeing me wipe my mouth with the handkerchief.
“Yes, I’m done. Thank you.”
I smiled.
Avery raised and eyebrow.
“...You’re welcome.”
She then stood up.
“Stay here for awhile. I will call the doctor and the healer for you.”
“Eh?”
“You were slashed by a demonic beast, right? That’s what your servants tell me.”
Ah, right. I told them not to mention about the carriage but to tell about us meeting some demonic beasts along the way and I acted as a decoy for them to flee. Good job in hiding it you guys.
“Yes. But... My memory is kinda fuzzy-“
“I’ll call the doctor so wait here.”
Avery said simply and left the room.
Sheesh, it’s obvious that she doesn’t want to see my face. In addition that she have to bring her annoying uncle to the palace, she also had to tend his wounds. Just who won’t be annoyed by that?
The healer came and quickly healed the external wounds while the doctor checked my conditions. The doctor showed a surprised expression before going to discuss with Avery at the far side of the room. I could see her smiling evilly from afar.
After my wounds were treated, she finally allowed my servants and knights to enter my room. They were all literally crying as Silica and Maria clung onto me. The knights were glad that I am still alive and well, and I congratulated them of they excellent work of fabricating the story. After all, if Avery knew that I fought her beasts, she would be enraged.
