Late at night, Ren Haruki and Nagato sat in the police station office, their faces etched with the strain of the ongoing investigation into Akuma Kuro. The scattered files and maps on the table indicated an ongoing intellectual battle.
Suddenly, Ren’s phone rang, and the distressed voice of Investigator Kato came through. “Ren, we have a major problem. Akuma Kuro has disappeared from prison.”
Ren froze, his gaze shifting to Nagato. “What do you mean he’s disappeared? How did this happen?”
“Yes, there was a security breach at the prison. Other inmates confirmed they saw Akuma exiting through a secret tunnel. It appears he escaped late at night.” Kato said quickly, sounding anxious.
“This is unbelievable. How could he escape without being detected?” Ren asked, quickly gathering his papers.
“We don’t have all the details yet, but we need to investigate immediately.” Kato added.
Rapidly, Ren and Nagato left for the prison to investigate Akuma's disappearance. Upon arrival, chaos was evident everywhere. Gates were open, and security was in disarray.
As Ren examined the area, he noticed something unusual: there were markings on the walls of the tunnel leading to Akuma’s exit. What caught his attention more was the presence of tools that did not belong to the ordinary inmates.
“Look here, Nagato.” Ren pointed to the tools found. “These tools are not part of the prison equipment. It seems someone assisted Akuma in his escape.”
“Do you think there’s a traitor inside the prison?” Nagato asked, beginning to grasp the magnitude of the problem.
“I believe so. This escape was meticulously planned, and it couldn’t have happened without inside help.” Ren said, examining the tools carefully.
The investigation continued at the prison, and Ren delved into every corner. While inspecting, he discovered a hidden recording device in one of the corners. When played, it revealed a conversation between the involved guard and Akuma, providing instructions on how to use the tunnels for the escape.
“This is the evidence we were looking for.” Ren said, showing Nagato. “The guard was aiding Akuma and has now disappeared.”
“Do you have any idea who it is?” Nagato asked, concerned about the ramifications.
“We need to review all the guards who were present during the escape.” Ren said, taking notes.
At that moment, Investigator Kato entered the room again, appearing rushed. “Ren, we’ve got new information. The guard involved in the escape had suspicious communication with Akuma before the incident.”
“We need to apprehend this guard and find out if he has any further information.” Ren said, reorganizing their plans.
As they pursued their investigation, Akuma continued to move in the shadows, preparing for his next moves. The game had become more complicated, and Ren and Nagato were about to face even greater challenges.
By the end of the chapter, everyone was tense and on edge, every step crucial. Ren knew that uncovering the traitor was an important first step, but the matter was far from over. There were more secrets to reveal, and a greater danger looming on the horizon.
