Later in the day, Onnie is found treading the dorm halls. She soon starts running to get to her destination. When she reaches Rosaline’s door, she tumbles on to the floor and catches her breath. After a few seconds, she gets up and starts knocking aggressively. “Hey Rose, it’s Onnie! Open up!”
“Come in!” says Rosaline. “Hey, what you up to?” “Oh, nothing, just studying for magic. I’m not doing the best, sadly.” “Oh, I can help. I’m a witch, after all. I also need to work on some of my magic,” says Onnie.
“I was going to ask you but, I need the challenge.”
“Well, what are you working on?”
“Every type of magic,” says Rosaline. “Okay, that’s easy. Let’s start with the basics.” says Onnie. Rosaline lets Onnie in to her dorm and sits her down to study. “First is Foretelling magic.” Onnie explains, Foretelling magic is magic where the caster can learn secrets long forgotten by time. They can interpret dreams and even read minds. They have the ability to touch a book or even a tree and learn who made the book and what their life was like. Or the moment where that tree’s seed first touch the ground. Sometimes if they’re great, they can even see into the future.
“This magic is manly used by fortune tellers or historians. Most magic has symbols that go with them. The symbol for Foretelling magic is like a book or stacks of books,” says Onnie. “Fun fact, a witch who was trying to find her missing kid founded it. She touched the trees around where the child usual played. She eventually found her kid lost in a cave.”
“That is interesting.” says Rosaline. “Okay let test this out.” says Onnie. “You touch someone, or something, then do the spell and think about what you want to do. I think. Go on, think of something.”
“Okay.” says Rosaline.
Onnie holds Rosaline’s face and presses her forehead against Rosaline’s. Rosaline thinks to herself, “Thanks for helping me study, Onnie.” “Aww your welcome Rose.” “Heh, next one, please.” says Rosaline. “Okay, next one is Warding magic.” This magic type comprises protective spells. The caster that uses this magic can create physical or magical barriers and or weapons. They can protect themselves or other from magical or physical abilities, harm trespasser and even banished victims to other planes of existence.
“Oddly, this magic was first used by the spirits when they first banished the demons to the Nether Realm. The symbol for Warding magic is a shield.” says Onnie. “I know Linden mainly uses this magic, so does Alphonse and Luca, which is cool. Okay, time to try it.” “What are you going to do?” asks Rosaline.
“Don’t worry, I will not banish you. Just throw something.” Rosaline throws a bear plush at Onnie. Onnie throws up the back of her fist. A golden but transparent shield materialized from thin air. “Yay!” Rosaline claps with joy.
“What’s next?” “Okay, next is Reform magic.”
Reform magic is magic that changes the physical properties of creatures. “Easy enough to understand, right? This is somewhat of a rumor, but I still think it’s true. The first person who used this magic was like a shapeshifter. Either that or the animas used it first,” says Onnie.
“How interesting.” says Rosaline. “The symbol is a heart surrounded by a plus and minus sign.” “A heart?” “Yeah, it’s supposed to be a sentimental meaning about to always remember you can change your appearance. But you can never change who you are inside or at heart. Hey Rose.”
“Yes?”
“You want to try something cool?” “Sure.”. “Okay, don’t move.” Onnie points her wand at Rosaline. A beam shoots from the tip to Rosaline’s stomach. The beam wraps around her body then explodes, leaving a shiny dust all over the room.
Onnie wipes the dust from her eyes and stares at Rosaline’s changed body. Her eyes widen and smiles ear to ear. “Oh my, I did it, I really… did it.” Onnie peeps down Rosaline’s body. “OH MY!” Onnie grabs a cloth and throws it at Rosaline’s bottom half. “What, what happened?” Rosaline asks. “Just look for yourself.” says Onnie.
Rose goes over to the mirror. She moves her hair from her eyes to. Rosaline takes a long look at herself then screams till all the air leaves her lungs.
“Ahh, what happened!” Rosaline’s body has transformed into a humanoid, less furry version of herself. Rosaline takes a step back then loses her balance, making her stumble to the ground. “Where’s my back legs, where’s my fur, where’s my- oh, I still have my hooves?” “Hmm, this still needs work. That is not important! Are you okay?” “Yes, I just lost my balance, not used to having only one set of legs, ha.” “Get up slowly.” says Onnie.
Rosaline supports herself on Onnie. “Wait, are you shorter?” Onnie asks. “Yeah, I’m naturally small for a centaur. I guess that just transferred.” Rosaline poof back into her original state and the dust disappears. “Well, look at that. I’m back to normal.” says Rosaline. “Great, let get back to where we were. I think it’s time for a speed round!”
Spiritual summoning magic, the magic art of calling for creatures of spiritual origins, meaning demons or spirits for spiritual assistance. “The symbol for this magic is a shooting star with a fire under it. Very interesting. The first people to use this magic are the gods themselves.”
“Next is Bewitchment magic.” This is the art of magical manifestation; it comprises chanting for what you want to appear. “It called bewitchment for misconception that what we ask for comes out of thin air or manifested, but nowadays it’s guessed that the gods give us what we ask for,” says Onnie. “The first one to use this magic is unknown. And the symbol for it is a hand pointing at a gaping mouth with a long tongue sticking out.”
“Hallucination/Illusion magic, this one is kind of self-explanatory. Few witches use this magic. It’s mainly used by other species like Nagas and Harpies. The first people to use this magic were the harpies. The symbol for this magic is fog over an eye. Necromancy, you should know this one.”
Magic that involves communication with the dead either by summoning their souls as apparitions, visions, or raising bodily for the purpose of Foretelling. “First used by Salem, the first witch. The symbol for this magic is simply a skull.”
“Magic of the conjuring.” Conjuration magic that calls materials and creatures to the caster. It can also be reversed to send creatures to other places either over long distances or even to a whole different plan of existence. “Cool, right?” says Onnie. “The first person to use this magic is also unknown. And the symbol is an open portal. Pause I have to try this. Hmm, what should I summon?” “How about a pumpkin?” says Rosaline. “Ah! Rose, you’re a genius!”
Onnie thinks long and hard about what her pumpkin should look like. “Alright, here I go.” Onnie opens a portal and closes her eyes. When she opens them, the portal is gone. “Did it work?”. “Aww, it’s so cute,” says Rosaline.
Onnie peeks down to see a walking black half pumpkin half bat creature wrapped around her leg. “Aww, I wanted it bigger.” “Onnie, look at its pointy teeth, it’s sooo cute.” “I made it resemble like a Jack-o-lantern, but I guess it’s cute.” “Can I keep him?” Rosaline asks. “Sure, but if I summon him, he’s mine for the day,” says Onnie. “I’m going to name him Jack.”
“Jack?”
“Yes, Jack-o-Lantern Valentine.” “Hey, why not my last name? I made him.” “Fine, Jack-o-Lantern Orli-Valentine.” “Perfect.” says Onnie.
“Okay, only a few to go.” Cancellation Magic is magic that cancels all magic. “It’s only used by advanced witches, though, because it can cancel literally all magic. The symbol is just an x sign. Next is Elemental magic.” Magic that uses any elements like fire, earth, water, ice, wind and so on to make or do things. “The first people to use this magic was the frost folk. The symbol for it is fire, water, wind, and earth. Material magic.” Material is magic made from different materials. “It’s basically potions,” says Onnie. “Beatrice mainly uses this magic and the symbols for it is a potion bottle. The first people to use this magic first were the dwarves.”
“Now on to my favorite type of magic, soul magic.” Although all magic comes from the soul, soul magic is magic only using your soul. You don’t need a magical relic to use soul magic. Soul magic differs by only uses symbols made by your hands instead of wands.
“The first people to use this magic were the fairies. But Nora the kind, thought Oziel, the legend how to use it. With that knowledge, he became the first person to fully master it. Even though fairy were the first, they can’t do all the things witches can with soul magic,” says Onnie. “The symbol that goes with is well, a soul aka a white orb.”
“And last but not least, Anti-magic, which is bad magic like stealing souls or whatever, you’re not gonna need this on the final test. Just forget it. It’s rumored that the first person to use it was the grim riper. So, they made the symbol a scythe. Of course, like anything, there can be magic yet to be discovered. Also, there are subclasses of past magic mentioned, but those will not be on the test.” says Onnie. “Oh okay.” says Rosaline. “Well, there you have it the basics of magic.” says Onnie. “Now, that we’re done let’s go see Fauna.” “Who?” Onnie puts Rosaline on her broom, and they head outside to the garden.
