AN: This is a short story I wrote for class a few years back set in my Old Beginnings Universe :) Hope you enjoy

It's been almost three years since World War two ended, and for me at least life has been chaotic. I’ve used up all the money I was paid and I can’t find any work. No one wants Dr. Trea Fletcher the war doctor to work with ANYTHING in the hospital, ‘What if he has a freak out and kill the patients!’ Well at least that's what a woman said when the news got out that I worked in the war. Everyone just wants leave the soldiers, doctors, and everyone else who was involved alone. Put them on a shelf and forget the war. It's been very difficult for people like me to get work, I’m just happy that I even made five dollars this week.
Lately I’ve been sitting on curbs begging for money in the morning and either looking for work or drinking in the evening. Today is one of the days I drank. Unfortunately for me I drank myself wasted and ended up here in this dimly light dumpy police holding room.

Trea looks annoyed and tired from the long night of staying there.
The light flickers, showing Trea handcuffed to the table. His hair is a mess, dark brown with a thick hazel striped of hair, his eye shine a piercing red, his face is unshaven and tired looking, almost like he hasn't slept in days. He’s wearing what used to be white lab coat, now its dirty, ripped, and stained. His pant are old and ripped, and his boots look even worse. He also has a simple metal chain with a small gem at the end of it, the gem is the same colour as his eyes. He reeks of alcohol.
The door slowly opens and a lady appears. She's beautiful, her hair is a brownish orange, very curly, her eyes are blue like the deep sea, and her cheeks are a glowing pink.
Trea sighs, annoyed.
She looks at Trea with no surprise in her face only annoyance, like she know how this is going to go.The dress she wears looks stunning on her, it's a white dress that is accented by a bow around her dresses collar and belt just above her belly button, they're the same colour as her eyes. The bottom of her dress is quickly fades from blue to white. Her shoe match in colour, they're are 1940’s oxford, service type shoes with round leather toes, and cuban heels. They match amazingly with her outfit. She walks to the table and sits down.
“Hi-”
The lady tries to speaks but Trea interrupts, “Yeah, I'm going to tell you what I told the policeman. I DO NOT remember what I did last night! So PLEASE stop interrogating me!”
The lady sighs, “ That's not why I'm here.”
“Then why are you here?” Trea interrupts again.
“Well if you would let me continue you would know,” She glare.
“Fine.” Trea gestures her to continue.
The lady continues, “Is it correct that you're doctor Trea Fletcher?”
Trea sighs, annoyed, “I thought you want to continue, not have me talk? But yes I am Trea Fletcher.”
“Thank you. I'm Julianna Chocan an CSIS agent sent to investigate you, and it has come our attention that you aren't as normal as you say you are,” Trea looks at the lady, Julianna, sternly but calm.  “Are you aware that in not reporting any technology or ‘magic’ that could make a person immortal you could be charged with treason?”
Trea pauses for a moment then a smug grin grows on his face, “And where would I report such a crazy thing? I mean who would even believe such a preposterous thing?”
Julianna looks at Trea for a moment. She has a look like she knows what going on here, “Yeah such a preposterous thing could never exist, but last night you were screaming and yelling about just a thing like it.”
She sounds smug. Trea doesn't know what it say, it's obvious that he didn't see that coming.
“What are you talking about?” Trea is trying and failing to play dumb.
“It's just last night you were yelling at people about how horrible both wars were and you like living in the 1600’s better.”
“And you would trust the words of a drunk?” Trea says, still trying to play dumb.
“Doctor. That's enough playing dumb, we both know what's going on here.”
“And what is that?!”
“Doctor, if you stop play dumb and give me what you have then you can go home.”
Trea, defeated, says, “That would be hard as I can't take my, what you would call magical, necklace off,” Julianna looks a mixture of confused and intrigued.
Trea continues, “You see in short I've been wearing this necklace for the last 368 years.”
Julianna utterly perplexed gasps in shock, “Ho-how old are you?”
“Just about 388 sometime this year, isnt this what you expected?” Trea tiredly sighs.
Julianna shakes her head and resumes her stern, professional look, “Do you know of any other persons who have a necklace that could make someone immortal?”
Trea sighs, “Yeah, one guy. I haven't seen for a few years though.”
Julianna seemingly excited says, “Do know if he still lives in the same residence?”
“Yeah, I can give you directions to his place.”
“No. By order of the RCMP you are now placed under MY watch until further notice.”
Trea is dumbfounded, “What?!”
“Now doctor Fletcher, you will take me to your ‘friend’s’ place of residence or you will be held in solitary confinement. Do I make myself clear?” Julianna looks at Trea, who right now is completely out of it, “Do I make myself clear?” She says, looking sternly, terrifyingly angry at the same time.
Trea snaps back, “Uh, fine!”
“First, you need a shower! They have one down the hall,” Julianna breaks her composure and finally pinches her nose for relief from the smell.
“Yeah…” Trea smells his armpit.
A shower sobers up Trea. After Trea is done with his shower and in some clean clothes, Julianna starts on the drive with him to Trea's friend's house. Julianna drives as Trea sits watching the trees go by. At first it's a long silent drive to Trea's friend's house in the middle of the forest. On the way the two talk, “Are you sure this is the right way?” Julianna says, getting increasingly concerned.
“Yeah. He lives out here, cause he was making a ton of noise getting him kicked out of town.”
“Why does he make so much noise?” Julianna inquires.
“He’s kinda a mad scientist, so…”
“Oh! Did he work in the war?”
Trea pause to consider his answer, “Not exactly…”
“What is that suppose to mean? You mean he was supporting the war or something?”
“No, he was more like an engineer… Or like a technology scientist, he created stuff for the war.”
Julianna's expression changes to scared concern from hearing this. The rest of the ride is silent till Trea points out a small clearing in the trees. Signs line the entrance with a black mailbox standing just outside the tree line. The signs read, ‘Do not disturb’, and; ‘Keep out’ in bold black letter on the plain wood signs. Julianna turns the car, hesitantly, into the long dirt driveway. After a few minutes they arrive at a small brown oak cabin with worn yellow window sills and door. The windows of the cabin are dirty and hard to look into. The door looks to have about six locks lining it.
Trea smurks then says, “Are you sure you still want to go in?”
Julianna gulps, “Yes.”
The two walk up to the old yellow door, Julianna knocks. The door opens a small crack, it's dark in the house only a puff of light brown hair and light purple eye can be seen.
“Hello. Who are you?” A voice comes from the door.
Julianna says sternly, with only a small hint of fear, “I am Julianna Chocan an CSIS agent,” Julianna flash her official CSIS ID badge; “and I'm here investigating a report of a strange necklace.”
The voice pauses, the silence of the surrounding forest looms around them. Suddenly the sound of locks being unlocked breaks the loom of silence, and the door opens. A tall man holds the door slightly open, his face looks friendly but his expression is stern, and he strangely has five o'clock shadow. His ears are scarred and torn up looking. He's wearing an oil stain brown leather vest with a old blue wore out long sleeve shirt. Both his sleeves are rolls up showing from the elbow down on his left hand is made of metal. The metal arm has strange buttons on it and a suspicious diamond shaped obsidian stone, that has a light glow emanating from it. He also wears a rusting gray pair of goggles around his neck. His pants look new, they're a light silver, but odd leather straps with knee padding are attached around his legs. The boots he wear are baggy, beaten, and  stained looking.
The man speaks, “What are you looking for?” Trea states at the ground as the man notices him. “Doctor Fletcher?”
Trea looks up, his expression is a concerned, worried, nervous look. “Yeah.”
“I haven't seen you forever, how have you been? What are you doing with Ms. agent blue eye over here?”
“Oh, you know! Getting caught drunk and certain people threatening to put my in jail if I don't help them get information on necklaces that can make people immortal…” Julianna looks a Trea a bit annoyed, but happy she can get straight to the point.
“What! Really you got drunk! How drunk were you this time?!” He laughs, his smile glows.
“Just so drunk I can't remember,” Trea relaxes and smiles at his old friend.
Julianna confused asks, “I'm sorry, what's your name?”
He looks over at Julianna sternly. “It's James, James Browne. Why don't you two come in so we can properly understand each other,” James directs them though his slightly messy house, inventions are spiraled about among his furniture and dust.
They walk down a dimly lit hallway, Trea remarks, “The police office had better lighting,” James looks saddened by this.
They reach the dusty kitchen table. “So you're looking for a necklace that grants immortality, is that right?” Julianna nods. “Why don't you just take Trea's here than?”
Julianna is puzzled by this. “He said it couldn't come off…”
They both look at Trea. He is not likening the attention. “It doesn't I've tried,” he chirps in.
“You sure, Fletcher? Mine comes off easily.”
“Believe me, would have taken it off years ago if I could.”
James looks suspicious and concerned at Trea. “So you have one?” Julianna says, her expression excited.
“Yeah, but you can't have it…” James turns to Julianna, his tone stern and cold.
“Why not!? What do you need it for?” Julianna tones changes, angry.
“I need it to power my arm, so I can work on my inventions. Anyway why would someone like you want immortality, anyway! You look like you're livin' good!” James starts to raise his voice.
“I'm getting it for the country's safety!” Julianna yells, slamming her hands on the table.
“Why would the country even need protection from these things!” James and Julianna both are standing, hands slammed on the table. Trea sits staring at the ground like a scared kid.
“It's so hooligans like this weird red eyed idiot-” Julianna points at Trea. “-don't run around causing chaos for times to come!”
Trea looks up at the now furious Julianna, he looks like he's about to cry. James is shocked. Julianna quickly realizes what she has said, “Oh! Uh… Trea I-”
Trea cuts her off, “No, I get it… I'm a pretty old person and last night I probably caused a lot of chaos…” Trea gets up out of the chair. “I'll just wait outside for you two to finish,” Trea walks outside, tears welling up in his eyes. James and Julianna are in shock as Trea walks out the door. When Trea is closed the door the two are silent for a second.
“... I’ll go see if he's okay…” James rushes out leaving Julianna standing, frozen, at the table.
James gets outside and looks for Trea for a moment before spotting him. Trea is balled up behind the car, crying. James is surprised to see his old friend like this at first, but then goes to sit by him. Trea hears James approaching and digs him face into his knees. They're both silent as James sits on the ground next to Trea, his friend.
James signs, “Remember the war? So many people fighting to keep their loved ones safe, everyone working their hardest and fastest to help anyone they could,” James pauses, looking at the cloudy sky. “You were best doctor they had on staff, you knew how to be nice but also honest with your patients. And the day I came in my arm so damaged that it had to be amputated, remember?”
