The days passed quickly, and the day to meet with Director Kaji had arrived. She was clearly not well, but she was not a friend or a colleague but her boss. Her hand was tied even if she wanted to do something. Some time had passed, and the engine's hum was the only sound in the vehicle. 

"It's time to go," I said, breaking the strange silence between us. 

Kilee's eyes darkened as she glanced back at her, but she did answer; she couldn't answer Maria. "He betrayed my trust," she said, palpably angry. 

The car started to move while Maria was trying to find the right words, but they came spontaneously.

"I will watch out." The car stopped at the traffic light, and Kilee looked at Maria. She was standing next to her with a sweet smile on her lips.

"I guess the best option is to stay glued to you the whole time," said Maria, laughing.

Kilee scanned her eyes, seeing that beautiful smile in front of her. In fact, people avoided smiling so sincerely; it calmed her.  

Kilee was reassured by having Maria by her side.

Once inside, Maria was standing right next to the director, as she said, pretty glued to the director. That made Kilee smirk. Kaji was surprised to see someone so close to that director. That one who no one could stand, no, had a small girl standing next to him confident. They exchanged an awkward greeting and headed into the meeting.

Each time Kaji spoke, she found herself closely watching his every move. Kaji was a tall, handsome man with short blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. It was easy for her to understand that he had a reputation as a womanizer.

Maria efficiently provided documents and took notes for the director. Kaji looked at her several times with curiosity. Each time their eyes met, his confidence wavered under Maria's intense gaze, causing him to stumble over his words. Everyone exchanged tired glances as the room grew tense and uneasy.

The director frowned when he noticed Kaji's interest in Maria. He was concerned that Maria could be slightly interested in that womanizer. Looking in her direction, he saw Maria deeply disgusted, which made the director return to his senses. 

After the meeting ended, all of the businessmen men disappeared in thin air, relieved that the meeting had come to an end.

"Director K! Wait," Kilee frowns her eyebrow, hearing Kaji behind them.

"Mr Kaji, may I help you?" Maria was standing right behind the director when Kaji gave quite the gaze in her direction.

That gave Maria a strange feeling and Kilee the certainty that he was interested in her secretary.

"Thank you, Mr. Kaji, but we have another meeting for the day," answered Kilee.

"That's unfortunate, but please join me next time," Kaji said, grinning at Maria.

Kilee opened the car door for Maria, who blushed while getting in. Kaji saw all that and got amused at Kilee's gaze toward him while getting in the driver's seat. It was usual that the secretaries would drive their boss around, but Kilee was treating Maria differently. It made Kaji excited at the idea of stealing the famous Director K secretary.

"It makes me wanna take her from you," said Kaji, talking to himself.

They returned to the company to finish and take home some projects. The director usually worked even on weekends.

"Take this, or better yet, Maria, go and ask for the "Corp" new proposal in the secretary's office." Kilee just dazed and dazed documents on the desk.

"All right, I'll come back as soon as possible. " Maria got down to the fourth floor.

Once on the elevator, she heard someone raise her voice. It was a woman. The more she descended toward the fourth floor, the more precise the voice was.

"The document is not ready yet," Louise said. We still need the final data to complete it as soon as possible.

"You have to give me that document this right moment, cant you understand?" shouted the other woman.

At that moment, Maria entered the office, seeing all the secretaries in silence at their desks and the fierce dispute between Louise and the Other Woman.

"Hello, may I help you?" asked another secretary.

"Who are you?" asked Maria.

"I'm Helena, one of the secretaries. How can I help you?" she asked.

"Ah, yes, I need the new proposal for -Corp," I said with a smile.

"I'm sorry, may I ask for what reason?" she asked. It was a valid question; not everyone knew who I was since I wasn't seen often.

"Director K needs it," she looked at me wide-eyed. "I'm Maria, his secretary," her eyes lit up instantly.

"The director's secretary! Just give me a second, and I'll bring it for you." She turned around and went to retrieve the document.

In the building, Maria was known as the director's beloved secretary after he was seen carrying her following a previous incident.

The shouting woman turned around upon hearing that Maria was the secretary. She was fierce, wearing high black heels, a tight cream dress, long black hair, and sharp brown eyes. With a sulk on her face, she approached Maria.

"A pumpkin was chosen as his secretary," she said, crossing her arms.

"Excuse me?" I asked her.

The woman scrutinized Maria, who was standing calmly, looking at her. She was eyeing that position herself, but because she was a manager now, she could not do it, and in the past, the director had always refused her.

"I can't believe they pick up someone without a backbone, " the manager remarked again. All the office fell quiet in an instant. So how did you seduce the director?" she said, laughing. Maria felt rage in her veins; being called like that was humiliating.

"What do you mean?" asked someone behind her.

Everyone froze in an instant; that voice was too familiar. The director had just entered the office.

"Maria, the document," asked the director.

"Ah, right here. I had to restamp the final graphic," said Helena, running toward them carrying many papers.

"Let me help." Maria took the papers.

"Thank you," she said, then carefully organized everything.

"Can I have the collateral branch, too?" Maria asked Helena.

"Sure, give me a second, and I will give it to you right away," she said. She ran off, and in just a few minutes, she returned with the file.

"That should be all," she said.

"Yes, perfect," said Maria after checking everything.

Portia, the manager, was quite angry but was trying to moderate her comportment because she was in front of the director.

"Director, I have them all," said Maria, getting back to them, but the director was standing there with a frown on his eyebrow.

"Then, how much require you to answer me?" asked him.

The office instantly became a war zone. Everyone knew the director was a maddog when someone did not respect him. And disrespecting Maia was like disrespecting him.

"Director K, that woman is..." commented  Portia, the manager, but the director interrupted her before she could finish her sentence.

"The only answer is, I am sorry, and I will be more careful next time. Understand?" She had nothing more to say. The director was clear.

"I am sorry, sir," said the woman, but without apologizing for real to Maria, she just left for the moment, which made the director mad, but she stayed quiet to make everything flow.
