A Contradictory Match

Perfect Timing Dad!

Perfect Timing Dad!

Sep 09, 2024

Standing outside his youngest daughter’s room, Phim paused before knocking gently on the door. There was no response. He knocked again, but louder. There was no response. Phim sighed and cautiously turned the door handle, keeping himself alert. He entered the room safely. Well, looks like this time she really did oversleep. Phim exhaled in relief. He slowly approached the queen-sized bed, upon which was a purple and red duvet roll. Completely encased from head to toe.

Phim shook the ‘roll’ lightly. The response was a muffled groan.

“Come on sweetheart, time to get up.” Phim continued to shake the roll with more force, to which the roll, on top of moaning started squirming. “Your Mummy’s making a nice warm breakfast right now and you can't eat it if you stay looking like... a rolled-up bug.”

The roll paused its struggling, seeming to think seriously whether to surface from within or not.

“Or do you really want to eat your Mummy's lovely porridge once it's gotten cold and stodgy?” Phim raised his brow as he landed the last blow.

The roll vigorously rolled to the side, unravelling itself with great momentum. With that momentum it found the edge of the bed and thud found the floor while it was at it.

Phim brought his hand to his face and rubbed his brow. “You alright over there? This is why I keep telling you not to roll yourself up in your duvet so tightly."

Over where the roll fell off the bed, a small and delicate hand stretched up from below the edge of the bed. It grasped the bedsheet and started to pull itself up, one more little hand joined its efforts to pull. Next, a small head with fluffy and curly charcoal black hair popped up with a pair of squinting eyes. The eyes blinked a few times, gradually turning from dazed to sharp.

Ah, she finally woke up, Phim thought. “Well Ada, time to get washed and dressed for breakfast and school.”

The innards of the roll, Ada, opened her eyes revealing a golden amber right eye and a crimson ruby left eye, she pursed and pouted her small mouth and rolled her eyes.

“Daad~ do I really have to go to school?” Ada widened her eyes and looked pitifully at Phim. “It's so boooring!”

Phim narrowed his eyes and raised his brow. “It's a necessary part of life, even I had to go at your age whether I liked it or not.”

Ada's eyes brightened. “Dad, you hated school too!?” Then they dimmed again. “Can't you just let me off, I can't see how ‘necessary’ school is!”

Phim chuckled with a straight face, “Sweetie, do you think either me or you could get it past your Mummy?”

“Tch, fine.” Ada clicked her tongue and grumbled, “I'll go!”

“Sweetie, going to school will give you more knowledge and experiences that'll help with your... inventions.” Hehe, inventions? Ha, darn prank devices!

Ada’s shone like stars. “I'll go, I'll go! So, get outta my room so I can get ready"

Whilst saying so Ada approached Phim and started to try and push him out the room.... though compared to her Father she's pint sized so Phim went along with her motion so she wouldn't hurt herself. Once she pushed Phim out her door, Ada was about to close it when she stopped the motion as if she just remembered something. She poked Phim's leg to which he looked at her, she used her hand to motion him to bend down to her height. Phim crouched down to his daughter's eye level as best he could, and then leaned further forward towards Ada.

“Hmm? What is it sweetheart?”

Ada spread her arms and held Phim's face, leaned forward and placed a big kiss on his cheek. “Hehee, morning Daddy. Love you'" Ada giggled as she released Phim's face and shut her door.

Phim stood back up, looked at Ada's door, shook his head and chuckled. Turning around, he cast his gaze and walked to the door at the end of the corridor on the left side. His son, Rubim's bedroom.

Phim knocked on the door firmly. Like his previous child, there was no response. So, he just opened the door and saw the sight he expected. In the middle of the room on the queen-sized bed a small slim figure with fluffy and curly dark brunette hair, laid with his limbs sprawled in all directions, the dark blue duvet was hardly serving its purpose of covering its owner. It was only covering the owner's stomach.

Phim crossed his arms and sighed; I swear he does the cancan in his sleep.

“Alright Rubim, time to get up!” Phim tapped Rubims foot. And he got a response.

“Nnh, just gimme 5 more days” Rubim muttered nasally as he retracted his limbs and rolled over.

Phim just stared at the back of his son, rolled his eyes as he raised his voice.

“What 5 days, I won't give you even 5 seconds!” Saying this Phim stood over the bed, stretched out his long, thick muscular arms and shook Rubim vigorously. Needless to say, Rubim woke up. His eyes opened widely in bewilderment, his ruby red right eye and golden amber left eye glared in accusation at Phim once his mind came to its senses.

“Dad! What did you do that for!?” Rubim pouted. “I could've slept for at least half an hour more, and still be ready before the girls!”

“You're lucky neither of them heard that.” Phim patted Rubim’s head. “Anyhow, that’s not an option, your Mother’s cooking breakfast right now. So, what you need to do is to get washed, dressed and get your things ready for school.”

“Oh right, school, I forgot I need to go to such an institution” Rubim spoke solemnly.

“You went just yesterday!” Phim retorted.

Rubim poked his tongue out. “Unimportant things are easy to forget!”

“Regardless. Get ready and get your butt down those stairs for breakfast. I'm going to go wake your elder Sister.” Phim paused and glanced at Rubim. “Unless you'd like to help me with that?”

Rubim jumped off the bed and onto his feet with a sudden burst of energy.

“No, no, no need. I'm busy getting ready for torture, I mean school! I'll leave big Sis’ to you!”

Phim shook his head and walked to the door. He was about to get out the door when Rubim loudly spoke behind him.

“Oh, right. Good morning, Dad!”

“Good morning son!”

Phim chuckled as he closed the door and proceeded towards the last door on the right side of the corridor. Sera's bedroom.

Phim knocked firmly on the door and called from outside. “Sweet Pea are you awa-" he didn't get to finish his sentence as the door was suddenly opened, but the doorway was empty and no-one was standing there...well, if you don't count the long slender, rust-coloured scaled tail with a naturally sharply pointed tip. The tail moved swiftly as it caught the surprised and off-guard Phim by the arm and yanked him into the room.

“Perfect timing Dad!” The owner of the tail’s voice spoke with delight and relief. “I have some questions I need your help with!”
