The iron golem revealed himself to be actually quite a muscolar elf in his thirties, when he removed his helm. His name was Tebonai, B-rank adventurer. Although elves disdained facial hair on the young, he still was unshaven past the point where it could be justified by laziness. He brought Kaede to an infirmary room and started treating his open wound, not unlike Garnlao did back in the Scentful Valley Sect.
"Why didn't you use the pill on yourself?"
"The girl was dying, she needed it much more than I did. Besides, I don't want to risk allowing myself to forgive what lord Vosphel did today."
Tebonai was noticeably delighted by an answer he didn't expect. "But eventually you will need to heal this, how do you plan to do that?"
"Well, you've seen the contents of my bag, I'm sure you already figured by now. I have all the ingredients I need to make a Venerable Rejuvenation Pill anytime I want."
"So you are an alchemist."
"I have no title, though."
Tebonai needed a few moments to process his thoughts. The mere fact that Kaede was being open about aspects of his identity he was clearly trying to hide from everyone else eclipsed even the fact that the iron golem finally found what he was looking for.
"I'm sorry I can't reciprocate your trust even though what you just shared might even be a bigger deal than what I'm hiding."
"That's fine, you don't have to. That being said you do need something, right? A pill?"
"How could you tell? Actually, I need a poison."
