Slowly, my eyes open. 

Hurting all over, the pain quickly begins to subside… I guess that’s my ability kicking in. This is… new. Going to take a while to get used to having an Ability I guess… 

Looking around, it looks like everyone seems ok, just winded. No idea what that was, but as soon as it hit I could feel my consciousness just drain from me. 

What the hell was that? 

“Ed, you okay, bro?” Assuming Ed is close by, I look around… and he’s nowhere to be seen....

“I don’t see him.” Isabelle slowly stands up, looking around.

“Adam. I… don’t sense him anywhere.” Sean notions to me, a bead of sweat falling from his brow, eyes wide open.

Wait, what?  “What do you mean? How far away could he have travelled for you to not be able to sense him?

“That’s not what I mean. I do not sense him. AT ALL. ANYWHERE on Umarth. Trust me, I’m trying.” He closes his eyes, wincing his face, visibly straining. He’s really concentrating, but… 

“Sue.” Isabelle, notions to her friend, “Wherever Kousei is, Edward likely is too. Feel anything?”

Oh that’s right, they’re both dark elements, she should be at least able to sense her own element close by.

Suzanna closes her eyes, and sighs deeply. 

Oh no.

“No, I don’t feel his PF, at all.…”

“He’s vanished. Same with Edward...” Sean looks away, clenching his fists in frustration.

“What!?” The shock overtakes me, unable to believe what I’m hearing. How? What the hell happened?

“No... but he... He couldn’t have… not again…” We all hear Shou talking to himself. Wait, “again?” “That would mean I am right and he’s…”

“What do you mean?” I exclaim, “You know what’s going on?” 

“I’m afraid… that Edward may be–”

Shou is interrupted, a sphere of darkness appears, shooting Ed out of it with a thud, and then the loud shuffle of grass, dirt and broken branches. “Ed!!” I rush over to my brother.

“AHHHRRRGG!” Ed coughs up blood, with slash wounds on his stomach… Shit.

“Whoa, bro, you ok?”

“You…” Behind me, I hear the anger in Shou’s voice.

“So… what now Kousei?” Ed struggles to stand on his feet as I help him up.

Kousei stares right into Ed’s eyes, almost like he’s trying to look into his soul, with a look of sheer shock and disbelief.
