Director Leon arrives. He is a young man with a dark beard and hazel eyes. He wears a black costume. He has a big smile on his face.
“So! Ms Smith! Do we finally get rid of him?” he asks happily.
“I think we do, director.” Ms Smith says with a smile.
We tell him what happened and Doctor Lily describes how bad Rafael’s injury was. Selena and Andrew show him the footage from the class and I, together with Rafael, show him the papers. Doctor Lily presents the sign in the book and explains the situation a bit more.
“When I created the sign-in system it was so that we had an easier time tracking teachers. I didn’t think it could so easily be manipulated. I’ll have to make some changes to it. But this! This is enough evidence! Even he can’t get away this time! Ms Smith, please, kindly bring Mr Harold.”
Ms Smith, with a smile, sits up and goes outside. Instantly, the director calls the police. When Ms Smith is back with the chemistry teacher, he sees director Leon and three policemen.
“What?” he asks, stunned.
“It seems, professor, that your years of terrorising this school are over.” Ms Smith says.
“What? But I’m…” he starts saying, but Director Leon stops him.
“Guilty. You are now fired and will stand trial for your crimes.” Director Leon says seriously.
The policemen start taking Mr Harold away, but then, Selena approaches them. She has a sad expression on her face. Mr Harold looks at her. She looks at him, tears appearing in her eyes.
“You were never my daughter!” Mr Harold says with hatred in his eyes, his words almost like a roar.
“I am your daughter. I will always be your daughter.” Selena says, looking directly into the man’s eyes. “But you were not the father to raise me. And I’ve seen that you’ll never be.”
Her sad expression transforms into anger.
“You never cared about me!” she says.
“Of course, I didn’t! Look at you! You’re a freak!”
“No, I’m not! Just because I’m different, it doesn’t mean I’m a bad person!” Selena continues with a serious tone. “I always hoped you’ll one day realise that… That I’m a human being! With feelings and all! I am your daughter, who, instead of getting love, I only got hatred from you! But today I realised that day will never come. Goodbye, Harold!” Selena says and turns her back to him.
The policemen take Mr Harold away, while he shouts insults at her. Me and Rafael approach Selena.
“Are you ok?” I ask.
“Yes! Now I’m fully ready to move on! I fully realised that he’s beyond hope!” she says and smiles. “I admit, it hurts. But it’s better this way! I’m happy that I at least got to stand up to him and tell him how miserable he’s made me feel for once!” she says.
I hug her. Rafael does the same. The rest of the class comes, and we all hug together.
“My biological father may not love me, but my real parents, the people who were there for me, do! My papa, my mum! So, I will always cherish that!” Selena adds, tears of joy appearing in her eyes.
She smiles again, and so does everyone else. After a bit, she wipes her face and says:
“Well… We just escaped the worst person who ever stepped foot in this school. I think we should celebrate!”
“I agree Ms Selena!” the Director says happily and looks at the rest of the class. “Who wants to party?” he asks, and everyone starts laughing.
The rest of the day, the whole school celebrated getting rid of that horrible man. Me and Rafael danced together, happier than ever, just like we did when we were in the woods. Later, after we stop dancing, I look around. The whole class was around me, together with Ms Smith and Doctor Lily. All my friends are here… I have an idea.
“Selena, could I borrow your camera?” I ask.
She looks surprised at me, knowing what I plan to do.
“Are you sure?” she asks.
“Yes! This is something I want to remember!” I say.
Selena smiles and she gives it to me. Everyone
positions themselves while I place it on a table. I set a timer, and then I
hurry and sit next to Rafael. He looks at me happily, then, he kisses me. A
flash of light appears and the photo is taken. After the kiss, I look into
Rafael’s eyes and hug him. He hugs me back and rests his head on mine. Now this
is a beautiful memory!
