Chapter 7.
You can run, but you can't hide.
Through the mental link that the Alpha maintained with the pack, he informed them that today there was a curfew and they should stay sheltered in their houses with increased security around them; and that he would personally be watching every corner of the forest.
The words in the link were seen as a threat and could really be interpreted as such, so Gregor was a little scared, because he didn't know exactly how far was Connor going to be able to stay stable and not lose his mind…
Ana felt that it had been a bad idea to say that the girl had left, she felt that it was her responsibility to prevent the girl from escaping and the first thing she had done was to leave the path clear for her to flee... it was humiliating for her.
While Connor ran in his werewolf form throughout the northern area of the forest, he inhaled the air trying to find her, but the woman had been smarter, because she had no scent and both his werewolf and his wolf protested and growled, because the woman belonged to them.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Katie ran in the south direction that led directly to the human city and so she could leave through the botanical garden where she had been kidnapped and go directly to her house, buy a ticket to another country and say goodbye to the wonderful life she led in Whistler.
She didn't know why, but she was really fighting with all her might to get out of that place, as she couldn't wait for that rope of shape-shifting lunatics to devour her for dinner whenever they wanted: she would fight back…
And if this was the way to fight back she was doing it in style, she had left her shoes and was running in socks, her throat was a little dry, she wanted to drink water, but it wasn't the time, it was just the time to keep running.
So, catching a little breath, the echo of a terrifying voice reached her ears with the illusion of the wind, where the words could be clearly heard: you can run little companion, but I will always find you.
The voice was deep and the girl became frantic, she had heard those words from the crazy woman in the cabins, even the man who was desperately trying to kill her because he mistook her for a murderer, claimed that she had killed his companion.
So, those words were simply the anxiety of the death sentence, the girl's eyes began to fill with tears, because she did not want this to happen to her... she did not want a bunch of lunatics to abuse her in a group and even less when those lunatics change into dogs, wolves, cats...
She did not even know what they changed into, but they changed and it was disgusting; it could be classified in the porn world as bestiality and she was not willing to contaminate her body with something like that.
Not today, not when she was close to finding freedom, she didn't even know where she was running, she was just running in a straight line hoping that on the other side there was a road or the entrance to the botanical garden; anything was better than being chased in the woods by an unidentified civilization that seemed to be taken from a fiction movie…
