Mora arrived at a passage in the path interrupted by a stream.
She stripped off her blood-soaked clothes and dropped herself into the running water.
"Ahh... that's good... that bastard had to fall apart right on top of me, those clothes will never be useful again."
The water washed Mora's body, now Selesta, it seemed to wash away everything bad that she had had in her life, a new beginning, a new life. The scared Mora had died back there in the bushes, she no longer felt fear, she no longer felt regrets, and now, she just wanted to move on. Lying in the water, Selesta looked up at the sky.
She got out of the water, the contact with the cold air made her shiver, she couldn't wear those filthy clothes anymore, what to do?
She thought of very small, fine chains, an intricate mesh without any open spaces, she made a commanding gesture to the ground, "Arise, materialize my thought!"
What emerged from the ground surprised Selesta, it was not a piece of mesh, but a very fine chain that enveloped her and began to weave a mesh directly onto her body, after a minute it was finished, and she was completely dressed from the head to the ankles, exactly as she envisioned it in her mind.
With her body dressed in metal, it was expected that she would feel cold, but no, it seemed that her skin was in sync with the metal, it was warm and cozy.
She continued down the path until she came to an old house in ruins. There was no door, she went inside. There was nobody. The ceiling had a hole, she could see the sky, and it was getting dark.
She decided to spend the night there, she laid down on a piece of dry straw and looked up at the sky, she thought of Marianne's words: "If you feel your humanity fading away, that your soul is being sucked out, remember this hug."
She was a little afraid of falling asleep, but after a few minutes the tiredness of the day's emotions got the better of her, and Selesta fell asleep.
She didn't feel her soul being sucked out, but she had the strangest dream: it seemed that her mind was looking straight into the past, that all the secrets of that dark world were parading before her eyes.
In the beginning, there were only normal humans, there were few wars, and most people lived in peace.
Then some humans began to be born endowed with superhuman abilities, they were born with an extra spirit: a spirit of the natural world that increased their physical abilities.
These spirits were pure and devoid of evil, the evil came from the bearer's original human spirit.
There were three types of spirits: The forest ones, concentrated in the western areas, the wind ones from the south, and the fire spirits, from the East and North.
Over time, three huge armies were formed, one for each type of spirit. The battle was inevitable.
On a very rainy day, the three armies met in what became known as the "Battle of the Three Realms".
The site of the battle was a valley surrounded by mountains. The three gigantic body masses converged furiously on the valley to determine which were the strongest spirits.
The battle was furious and merciless, every soldier who set foot in that valley died. All but three. The battle ended with three figures in the center of the carnage crossing shapeless swords, despite not bearing any spirit of the natural world, the power they possessed went beyond anything that had been displayed until then. The human spirit had been greatly underestimated.
From that day on, the world would be dominated by the spirits of those three survivors, even after their deaths, their immortal spirits continued to dictate the laws of the world in the bodies of those who would inherit them at birth, in the following hundreds of years. They became known as the ancestral queens or the Magnificas.
These three spirits had an evil side, devoid of feelings, despite granting powers worthy of a god, they were a curse for whoever possessed them.
In the current time, 900 years after the "Battle of the Three Realms", there were two great warlords, two cruel brothers who shared one of the spirits: Queen Ovora, they dominated the lands of the North and South; Selesta was now also the owner of one of the spirits: Queen Seles; the third had disappeared without trace hundreds of years ago, the spirit of Queen Kaxea.
The two brothers had embraced their evil side without caring about the consequences, the result was pure evil, the world had fallen into their hands, people were no longer free, and they had become slaves.
In today's world, there was only one place where people were still free: a city called "Felica", located at the crossroads between the territories of the North, South, East, and West.
This city was protected by an order sworn to fight the tyranny of warlords: the "Order of the Phoenix".
There were also other two zones not controlled by the warlords: a small portion of the East, which was controlled by the last resistant bearers of the natural world spirits, and all the lands of the West, where the "Forest of Beasts" was located, a vast area inhabited by terrible creatures, where no one dared to enter, not even the warlords.
Selesta woke up, it was already morning. What a strange dream that was. Deep down in her guts, she felt that dream was a glimpse of the true history of that world, that everything was nothing more than an eternal game of power balance and strategy, and she had become one of the main pieces of it.
