Chapter 14.
Stage fright.
The Alpha could smell the fear and nerves that his companion was feeling, her body practically trembled in front of the members of the pack as if she were a newborn and abandoned kitten.
Then, he patted her on the back three times trying to calm her nerves, he had seen many Alphas from other packs at that event wanting to calm their moons, but there was a big difference: those moons were wolves, but their partner was human, so the stage fright she was experiencing made it even more evident that she was a simple human and could not be a murderer, since she did not have the ability to do so.
After saying goodbye to the members of the pack and many of them putting themselves at the service to help Luna adapt to her new environment, the Alpha was truly completely grateful for all the affection with which they had received the news.
The pack was happy and the banquet that was being prepared for the night was even more so… he carried the girl as if she were a princess in his arms while she did not dare to even look at him, her face was completely expressionless.
it could not be read at that moment, but he knew that what he had done was right, he had to present her to everyone as what she was: his Luna, his partner and who would accompany him until death.
Her brain slowly understood what had happened… among the crowd, she could see the happiness, the excitement and also the disappointment of some members of that pack.
The announcement was followed by loud applause and she was very nervous, never in her life had she felt the urge to run so far, but looking at all those happy wolves it seemed that she had already taken off the weight with which they had pointed at her from the beginning.
For them, she was their boss's partner, so she was no longer a killer; and it was much better to be looked at with the eyes of an Alpha's partner than to be pointed at and criticized for being a killer... all this seemed like a mistake, but she felt an internal conflict in the sense that there was no one she could trust with her life.
Worry took over her when the Alpha carried her through the crowd... really, she did not want to be in that place, she looked at everyone, but she could not experience complete emotion, she had heard that a banquet would be held in the evening in celebration of her and some members of the pack had told her that they would help her adapt, so she could simply say thank you and give them a small smile with her lips stuck together.
She had no words, she didn't even know what to call what she was experiencing, but when they were completely alone, he confessed to her in a room in the same house where he had previously intimidated her: only you have the right to be my partner.
If the goddess of the Moon has sent you to me, I will do anything for you… don't look at me as a stranger because it really hurts me; look at me as your other half, she gulped because the air became stifling and she found herself wanting to caress his hair between her fingers.
She didn't even realize that Connor had approached her face and looked at her tenderly… for a small second she wanted to shorten the distance between them, but then she fell back to reality when she remembered his true appearance and that made her step back and look away immediately.
