An endless tide I forever roam.

Hidden treasures, feeling so free,

I love my life within the sea.

Glistening scales and flowing gills,

No fear of lungs that water fills.

My school around me, my family,

I'll live here in the coral, happily.

But one day our life will be scattered,

And our ribbon of ocean will be tattered;

By human hands that push and pull,

They'll stay until their nets are full.

Then with splashing oars and spinning blades,

A careless goodbye to my home they'll bade.

They'll leave me empty, and all alone,

When torn apart is my home.

I'll stray too far, my old life forgotten,

My will to live, my heart downtrodden.

And slowly as I fade away,

I'll remember the ocean, and that damned day.
