Intermission
❀
Madeline and Emmett met at some paint and sip. An old friend of his had convinced him to go. Meeting people and talking wasn't his cup of tea but Val was convinced that this would "open his horizons".
They were sat beside each other. Later on they'd joke about how it must have been fate that brought them together.
Drinking mimosa after mimosa while painting some random nude dude was definitely a conversation starter.
"I didn't even want to come. My sister practically begged me." She'd laugh as her sister jammed her side with the handle of a paintbrush. "Hey!" Madeline and her bickered for a moment before she'd turned back to Emmett. "Heh, sorry about that-" she tucked a long blonde strand of hair behind her ear. " Woah! You're super good!" She wedged her way into his personal space, and maybe it was the alcohol, but he'd let her.
She was so cute. She wore this cute green bandana with white flowers on it, and carried a matching tote bag. Her smile seemed to rob Emmett of all air in his lungs.
He was tipsy, or maybe he was just smitten.
"Uh, thank you."
And then there was this moment. This moment where she looked up at him and said. "I like your piercing."
Whether she'd meant his dimple piercing, or his gages, or any of the other many piercings he'd had- it didn't matter. He felt something within him bloom.
"I like your bandana."
He never knew what to say. But she looked at him like he'd always said the right thing. "You like my bandana?" She smiled at him and he felt like the most important person on earth. "Yeah." She giggled a bit before scribbling something down on a tiny piece of paper before handing it to him. "Here."
He took it hesitantly before taking a look at the note.
Ah. Her number.
"Oh- uh, thank you." he stammered, searching high and low for the right response. She giggled, her arm rested on his shoulder for a moment. And for a moment he couldn't breathe.
She was bold and shy and sweet and...
It wouldn't take him long to realize that she was everything.
